July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

Looks like we'll we on the adventure hike with you -cool!

Excellent! :woohoo: I think it will be a lot of fun. I've read some positive reviews online. Many people said hiking boots/shoes are recommended and those that didn't have them wished that they did (lots of slipping in tennis shoes). We're going today to buy boots!

We've changed our excursions plans a few times already. There are just so many good choices. But I think we have it now. looks like we'll be joining tksbaskets and Nascar's families as well!

Skagway - Takshanuk Mountain Trail 4x4
Juneau - Mendenhall Glacier Adventure Hike
Ketchikan - Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour

Did anyone else notice that the Bering Sea Tour in Ketchikan ends at 7:45pm, but the all aboard time is 7:30? I'm assuming that since we booked through Disney that we'll be OK.

WOW I didn't notice our excursion ends after the ship sails. I'm thinking we'll be OK since we booked through Disney.

Do you have older children? I'm thinking our sons may be the only 20 yo's on the ship.

Anyone thinking of their Fish Exchange yet? Guess it's time to start thinking seriously about all the fun we'll have on the ship!

Funny you should say that. We were just talking about it today.

Do we have a final count and have we set a cut-off?

is it possible to opt back in to the FE? we backed out a few weeks ago as I was feeling totally stressed about selling our house and couldn't think of adding one more thing to my list. Well, we decided to take our house off the market and stay . So, we'd like to participate if it's still open. 2 adults, 3 kids (10, 13, 15), staterooms 5126 and 5127 (FE will be at 5126). let me know...

im going on this one too. It will be the 1st time that im going on a disney cruise im getting real excited. What will I all be in store for?

Welcome~~ :cheer2: What are you in store for? A great time! :goodvibes

You are probably already looking at the DCL threads on the DIS boards. Have you cruised another cruise line? I can only compare to Carnival in a past life. Once we took our first Disney Cruise we were spoiled for any other.

In a straight up $ comparison Disney is usually higher. In our book the fun/level of service/family atmosphere is worth every $. Although you can find a lot of adult activities on the DCL, we have never found it to be the floating party cruiser Carnival was.

Now that Disney is opening so many new itineraries we'll continue to cruise with them for quite some time. We have never repeated an exact cruise as it is a lot of money. We are normal working people who save for vacation and for our money we like to explore new places. We did take one Adventures by Disney tour to Wyoming and loved that as well!

Do you have specific questions?

Welcome aboard! I think Teresa summed it up pretty well. Our difference is we've done the same cruises a number of time. :)

We've always found the DCL experience to be a great one and I hope you do too.

That's awesome! I need to get a move on.

I did however call DCL today and give ourselves an onboard credit that will cover our excursions, spa and tips. That way it will be paid off before we even get on the ship. With the hotel and excursions we want to take in Vancouver I wanted to get as much out of the way money wise as possible.

Good morning my fellow Alaskan cruisers!

They all look to be available. The Lumberjack show didn't say Disney Exclusive but there was only one that was the Lumberjack show itself and it is available.

Has anyone started planning what they are doing before/after the cruise?

We're coming in to Vancouver on Saturday. We're looking to do two day tours. One day to Victoria, still not sure on the other. What is everyone else doing?

Our plans are to fly into Seattle on Saturday to explore the city over the weekend. Then take a train to Vancouver on Monday so we don't have to worry about rushing to get to the port on Tuesday.

I bought a couple of Vancouver tour books and have been looking at that huge thread for Vancouver FAQ. There are currently 69 pages of information so it is a bit overwhelming.

I'm still thinking about our FE!

we get in about 4:30 the day before, so I don't think we'll do much beyond hotel/dinner. I think we'll do the aquarium the day we disembark as our flight doesn't leave until after 5.

Hi all...hope ya dont mind but I read all the Alaskan threads to see what great info everyone is posting...:thumbsup2 I am on the July 19th cruise.

Saw this post so thought I would let it be known that I called the Bering Sea Crab and they said that the excursion starts at 4 and ends at 7:30.....she said that they are only a ships length away and that everyone walks to and from the ship. Also if you have friends that decide that they want to go on that excursion and it fills up through DCL that they hold back 30 seats for other passengers and they will also take DCL pasengers that book on their own along with the ones that book through DCL.

It is also cheaper. This is how I am doing it. DCL will have no problem making up the time they are late...and the ship will not sail without you as long as you are with them. Have a great cruise. :thumbsup2

Here is the tread I am on and I have posted lots and lots of info on page #1 first post if you want to look and see if anything interests you. :)
