July 30, 2010 Mickey's Adventures England to Espana Cruise

I dread to think how long Scottishwee35 journey will be! Ours will be a 5 1/2 hour journey with 2 changes! we're about 250 miles north of London. The journey to London is 2 hrs 30mins then its across London via the underground berfore another 1hr 15 mins ??? to Dover. Having travelled by coaches the train is fatastic!
We caught the train back from Birmingham on 26 Oct. I booked about a month in advance and got a First Class ticket for me and DD for about £10 more than economy. (2hr journey). We travelled at lunch time but the same offer was on and better for 6pm + travel! By the time we had a drink and a bacon bap it covered the difference in ticket price! I would recomend checking the website on a regular basis from about 2 months out! You can pre book seats which is a plus on busy trains! Luggage storage is a bit of a problem but with seating plans you can pick seats near luggage compartments or either side of a table. Then sit back and watch the country go by!

My vote is train!

Hello

I agreed with you as you vote is Train so our...

From Edinburgh to London about 4 half hours (fast train with unlimited stop) few stops...then we maybe take taxi to another station for Dover... look like all day travelling, hopeful we arrive by tea times? We will apply family rail card for 4 adults 2 kids... and we want to book seats too... I am glad only one way lol...

I told in law can flight to London but they want with us...

I am sure Kids will enjoy it...

We're going to do the station transfer in London by taxi too! The thought of luggage on the undeground:scared1::scared1::scared1:

We will be catching the Edinburgh train from Leeds! You never know we may be on the same one!!!!!

We did ME last time we went do Disney and it stopped at Pop Century. DD got excited and kept asking what the icon meant, especially the 70s! I think it is a good choice with children.
Viccie

What Pop Century like? as I am looking around for one night before the cruise in April 2011 and wonder if I book Pop Century or sports for the kids as I think Magic Disney Bus pick up from there? Is that right?

Scottishwee35

Good Morning:

Pop Century was a fun resort. We have never stayed at any of the All-Star resorts, so I cannot compare them. Pop Century has a great theme with the giant yo-yos, cell phones, dancers, jungle book, etc. We had a lot of fun wondering around looking at the buldings. Pool was popular. Food court had many choices. Busses ran all the time. We had heard negative comments about the transportation from this resort, but we did not have any trouble. We were in the 1950's building near the front.

Looks like Tropical Storm Ida fell apart this morning. We are expecting a little rain from her.

The new 2010 TA port Excursions are on the dcl site!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Go check them out, to get a full list you have to delve deep, the new site is confusing for researching excursions.

Can't see any of the Baltic ports or new Med ports, hopefully they come up soon! Looks like it is mainly the TA ports for both directions. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/cr...rsions/search/

I am back from Miami and my 4 day cruise on the Majesty of the Seas. I discvered I love to cruise and solo or adult only trips I could have fun on any ship.

Travelling with the girls I see only DCL in the future. The ship I was on was not suited for kids and after the first couple of hours the girls would be bored.

I will try and post some pictures later, but now I have to get back into the real world of laundry and work.

I went to look at the excursions for Gibraltar and Cadiz and nothing jumped out at me as being a must do, hopefuly the other ports will have some special ones.

Thanks for posting some pictures. I read your comparrison on the main thread too. Hadn't realised that coco cay was their private island!

Gib and Cadiz are both small ports. I think that they are very doable on your own. I must admit there was nothing that caught my eye excursion wise, but then I was planning on doing these port ourselves. If something had caught my eye I would have reconsidered.

We are definately getting a taxi tour on Gib. Partly because we want to visit the military cemetry as DH great uncle is burried there. He was shot down over Gib. We would have got a taxi to the cemetry anyway so doing the rest of the rock by taxi makes sense for us.

Don't feel guilty, I came back and everyone had so much fun that I should have stayed longer. I am sure you do lots for your family and deserve a break. They will be fine without you.

Enjoy your trip.
