I know July 4 at MK can easily close for capacity and park hopping. Any thoughts on the 3rd? Do I need to plan to stay in park all day or risk being shut out that night?
I fully agree with this. Hence, I book all my ADRs for lunch… it makes planning a weird brain gym activity…We decided to do MK on the 3rd for that reason, hoping everyone isn't thinking like us, lol. In terms of hopping the 3rd (as well as the 4th) will likely be fine.
That said, I'm really wishing I didn't do hoppers with the park capacity stuff. We like making dinner reservations and it makes it so much more difficult when it's not 100% we can make them.
We have animal kingdom booked for the AM on july 4th, and plan to park hop to HS for a dinner we have booked that evening. I kind of want to change the morning to HS so I know for certain we will make dinner (our favourite restaurant), but that basically makes the hoppers a complete waste. I probably won't change it but it's unsettling.
If you have a reservation for a park, you are guaranteed entry to that park no matter when you arrive. You can also leave and re-enter as many times as you want. If the park reaches capacity, they'll close it to hopping, but guests with reservations for that park will still be admitted. So if you'll be there on a day that's bound to be crowded, book your desired park reservation ASAP, before that park books up.HMMM- that brings up a question for me. Say you have a park reservation for MK, but it is your arrival day and you don't get there until after park hopping time starts and it closes to capacity due to all the people park hopping. Do they still let you in because you have a reservation? Do they turn you away even though you have a reservation? Do they scan you in and tell you go to to another park because you can't actually enter the park as it is full? Anyone know?
I just saw someone else mention the park will close at 4pm for capacity at MK. I’m getting nervous about leaving and coming back!If you have a reservation for a park, you are guaranteed entry to that park no matter when you arrive. I think they were guessing at that. None of the parks closed on Christmas Day or on New Year’s Eve in 2021, the two most busy days of the year and the two days most likely to have closures before the pandemic. Only once since reopening in 2020 has a park closed to hopping, and that was MK for only a few hours on the afternoon of the 50th anniversary, October 1, 2021. Guests with reservations were still allowed to enter when it was closed to hopping. Now, will it be so crowded that I wouldn’t want to be there on July 4? Very likely. Will it close to hopping? Maybe. But guests with reservations for MK will still get in.I just saw someone else mention the park will close at 4pm for capacity at MK. I’m getting nervous about leaving and coming back!
No, Disney has never released capacity numbers, and they probably adjust them each day based on staffing and other factors.I am not sure if this is listed somewhere or anywhere but do we know what the current capacity numbers are for each park or does that number vary from day to day?
Since starting park reservations, it is far more frequent that you are unable to book a morning park and gain entry (for example, you cannot enter a MK or HS a single morning right now in june unless you already hold a reservation). So we aren't really sure what capacity is anymore. Not sure where all this "closed to hopping" misinformation is coming from. And yes, I know what the Disney website says. Could it happen in the future? Sure. Has it happened under the new reservation system? It has not.
That's the genius of park hoppers. You will have no trouble making those parties and ADRs... Nothing to regret. We do it every trip including trip 5 (since reopening) coming up in July. You will be fine. Hoppers are worth every penny.I'm regretting booking hoppers with ADR's/dessert parties/genie+ because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have to think about it at all.
That person was guessing and almost 99% certain to be incorrect.I just saw someone else mention the park will close at 4pm for capacity at MK. I’m getting nervous about leaving and coming back!
Even if they gave out the number of park reservations offered that has no bearing on max capacity a park can handle.I am not sure if this is listed somewhere or anywhere but do we know what the current capacity numbers are for each park or does that number vary from day to day?
Honestly, you'd stand a much bigger chance of having an accident on the way to the park you are hopping to than you do not getting in the park due to closure and I doubt you spend time worrying now too much about an accident then. In other words, you are spending time worrying about something with such small odds that it's just wasting your energies on it. If the parks were going to close for hopping they would have done so already at various other points on much more crowded days. Having attended Disney both pre and post Covid on their most crowded days, post Covid Disney doesn't even come close to what pre Covid Disney came in the way of crowds.Since starting park reservations, it is far more frequent that you are unable to book a morning park and gain entry (for example, you cannot enter a MK or HS a single morning right now in june unless you already hold a reservation). I think I'm probably safe because like you said it hasn't happened in the past. However, also like you said, it could possibly happen in the future, which is on my mind. I'm regretting booking hoppers with ADR's/dessert parties/genie+ because if I hadn't, I wouldn't have to think about it at all.
