This cruise was a gift to each other for our 25th wedding anniversary which was this past November, so although it has just passed, it is the main reason we went all out- also carley will be celebrating her 13th birthday 2 weeks after we dock, and my 49th birthday ( the final one before hitting the big 50- a week before we leave! The Phelan's have a lot to celebrate !!!
Oh yes- and making so many new friends!!!!!

Sandaneli

We are celebrating our 10th anniversary VERY EARLY. It's not until Nov 98 but this is a dream cruise and it won't be available in 2008.

ANDREW

Well for the first time we miss celebrations on this cruise, for the last two our wedding Anniversary in August and DS Stephen’s birthday have fallen on the cruise, or whilst we are away.

My anniversary, and DS Birthday will be a couple of weeks after the cruise, in 2008, they fall within the 15 night cruise.

Great idea regarding the pictures and nice ones too! I need help from my kids to do this :confused3

My dd will be graduating from 8th grade June 15.

Early 25th Wedding Anniversary for dh and I (Nov.).

I also remember a while ago discussing a grab bag (we did this in '05) - Any updates on this?

hi everyone!

the phelans are also in on the gifts bags   -we love surprises-!!-

I will try to handle the teen/tween bags- carley has already posted about it and the kids that have posted seem very interested. :woohoo: :woohoo:
I told carley to suggest that the gift should represent where they come from, although not necessary- anything thing will do- its the excitement and thought that counts. She said she is probably going to do a NYC theme bag ( tee shirt, Empire State building souvenir etc) , or after talking to Emily from Iowa, she thought a beach theme would also be great since we live so close to the beach. I'm not sure what to say about a limit on the cost- my thought was $15- $20.00. but please let me know if this is too much or too little.

I'm starting to get that - holy cow- how and what am I going to pack nervous feeling my stomach- I'm the type thats packs for -just in case- and you never know- Im the type that would bring a winter coat to the Caribbean- JUST IN CASE!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: lol

Understand the principle..does someone sellect the name of who you are going to get the bag for?

Thats the question !!! A grab bag means that you put all the "gifts in a big dark bag and each child reaches in for one"- but that causes many shopping problems--boy/girl thing

sooo
we could have a separate boy and girl grab bag, so girls will pull from a girl bag and boys will pull from a boy bag

or when I get all the names , I will match boys with boys and girls with girls based on the most geographic differences, and possibly age

or I will just pull 2 names out of a "hat" at random

again... I will take suggestions- also, ask your kids what they think, and majority will rule I guess

im off to work- I will check in there!!!

Yes there is the Girl/boy/age issue, So to make the buying better and easier, and the child to get something nice for their age and sex, I would suggest, sellection by name first.

Just checking in. Between soccer games, weather (I'll explain) and family and church activities we didn't have much time to check the site this weekend.

Speaking of, I hope everyone had a good weekend. DD Madelynne's soccer team went 1-1 with her scoring the winning goal at Sunday's game at the last minute. It was great to see her smile from ear to ear!

DW and I had the opportunity to see the national tour of CATS in town Sat. night. We've never been to NYC (but I guess that could change after we make some new friends on the cruise) but love going to the theater. The show was good, but seems to appeal more to the ladies. BTW, my favorite is still "Movin'Out".

All of this was tempered by the perennial severe weather that plagues us here in Tornado Alley each spring. I'm sure Barb in IA can testify to this as well. A 'dry line' has been sitting over the state for last few days reaking havoc. Our home was hit in the F5 that swept through OKC in 1999. So we're always nervous this time of year. Looks like we're still under threat for the next few days at least. Arghhh!

Maybe we can get our girls online tonite! I know they would love to do the grab bags, and would enjoy sharing items from our state. Oklahoma is celebrating its centennial in 2007. One-hundred years must seem to young to most of you who live in areas that are hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. We're just a baby, yet have so much to offer (except for the tornadoes, and a fair amount of visitors from the UK take vacation here each year to chase them). Come visit us some time!

As far as the lanyards go, please count us in for four. I'd be happy to lend my graphic design skills to help if you want.

Last thing ... already dropped a few #. Woo-hoo! Now if I could just get my butt to the gym it might really fall off (the pounds, not my butt).

PS -- Andrew, any more word on the Palo Brunch on Sunday?
