Lisa,
I'll send you a PM tonight (we're off to a bday party @ skating rink) with Meg's Myspace. Both girls will be nearing their bday at the end of the trip. So, she may want to visit with your son of that age as well. Andrew, my younger one might pen pal w/your son?

I have to process all this and get a gameplan going. First order of biz (aside from passports) is airline tickets. I'm leaning more to the idea of coming in day of departure and staying 1-2 days afterwards since we'll be heading into the weekend.

Most likely flying from Dallas to BCN via? I haven't seen anything less than $1100 ... and I've been checking for months.

Otherwise, the idea of returning via Paris then London, and back to US is appealing. But may be too much to take on in first trip abroad.

Airline tickets - We are flying Air Comet - Spanish Airline - Round trip to BCN $500 - but we booked months ago. We found it on Travelocity. They only fly out of JFK - but I bet you could get to NYC with no problem??

On Travelzoo, all of a sudden I have been seeing $500-$600 round trip flights to BCN from several US cities...but they never go out as far as our cruise - Must complete travel by 6-30-2007 kinda thing.

We arrive the day we board the Magic and we are staying 2 extra days in BCN. We booked our hotel though Disney and I think the "deal" of the century is the trasfers - from the airport to the port - from the port to the hotel - from the hotel back to the airport - all for $59 per person!!

I was thinking af Paris after as well, but decided it was too much our first overseas as well.

I am really getting excited!!

What grade is Meg? Annie is a 7th grader, but very old for her age. She is almost 14. Most of her friends are 15-16.

My son will be headed off to college as soon as we get back. This trip is his graduation present for the family!!

Andrew, how is Alice feeling? Gretchen said she has not heard from her in a while. I hope is feeling better!!

Welcome to our latest members!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in my second to last grad course this weekend................when this month it over, I'll be finished!!!!!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :woohoo: :dance3: :yay:

Nice luggage, Helen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All,
It's March, so time to get down to some real planning for this trip. I think we're the only family thus far on the list from the great state of Oklahoma! Glad to see so many already linked up for the 7/28 departure, and looking forward to networking and collaborating with friends here as we prepare.
Have a great weekend.

Sorry, I gotta work on my funny avatar faces and other identity things.

Hi, welcome to the club. I'd suggest you get on those passports ASAP. Better to have them nice and safe now rather then worrying about them. Get into your local Walgreens tomorrow and get your pics, and get them out next week. Believe me, you'll sleep easier.

Welcome FormerPCer

We are a family of five traveling with Wendy (Disneymagic316) and her parents and sil, bil. (14 total).

We are flying out of (okay can't remember if it's Newark Or JFK - I think it's Newark  - on Friday, July 27 and arriving early (9:15 am) on the 28th. Flying back right after cruise. We booked this air before Christmas almost $1,300 each, direct/non-stop.

Not sure if we are doing any excursions in Barcelona yet. We could not add extra days before or after due to limited vacation/time off for dh and sons.

Welcome again.

Wow. I feel like I've found a long lost family here. Had dinner with the in-laws. They've traveled a bit and highly recommended we try to make it to Paris if possible. So, I was wondering what options there were to get from Barcelona to Paris. I read earlier where (I think it was Andrew) said there was an overnight train with sleeping quarters. Any other options? Would it be better to return to Barcelona to fly back to states, or home directly from Paris? On the passports, we've got a plan to take care of it. Did we ever figure out if the 75-day request from DCL was a guideline or demand?

I saw air flights on Ryan Air for .99 Euro from Barcelona to Paris ...I could not believe it, but it was right. They charge for luggage and toilet paper.....:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: and they fly at the smaller airports....

but still .99 Euro is really good!!

;) Morning all,

I think those of you who are flyin in on the same day as the boat is leaving are very brave. Having done the transatlantic many times -I couldn't do it - my nerves wouldn't be able to handle it. Infact even though we are coming from the UK and have just a 2.5 hour flight we are still arriving in barcelona 4 days before we cruise!!! Just incase;)

Have a great Sunday!

jlawall,
I'm still working on flights, trying to convince DW that arriving day of departure will be fine. I guess it will be fine if DCL is coming in that day as well. Is that U.S.Air? Thanks!
