I found a page at About.Com for some cruise book reviews:

Top 5 Top Picks in Mediterranean Cruise Books

It's not much but it's something.

Let's start a Book club. I will buy the first book on this list:

Mediterranean by Cruise Ship (2 Releases)

Subtitle: The Complete Guide to Mediterranean Cruising

And I will read it and review it so we can know which book is the best without buying all 5. Anyone else want to volunteer to read one of the other 4?

Hi sorry it took a long time to tell you about this book  . It came last week while I was away.

DK (Dorling Kindersley) Eyewitness travel guides
Cruise Guide To Europe and the Med.
Cost £14.99 ( I paid £2.50 on ebay :goodvibes ) published 2001

This book is good but I don't think its worth paying the proper price for it. See if you can find it in the library.
It has info on lots of European countries ( not just Spain, France & Italy)
All of our ports are covered ( usually 2 pages per city) basic map of city, key sights, fact file inc markets, shopping specialities, local food specialities and excursions.

Hope that helps
:thumbsup2

Thanks Helen - I really appreciate the review :thumbsup2

I was thinking of getting Frommer's Italy 2006. Reading up a bit on Frommers, they update annually, and this one came out August 2005, so I was thinking of waiting til august and get the 2007 version. Also, since Rome fasinates me, I was planning on getting Rome Eyewitness Travel guide too. The above looks good, so I'll await your review. :teeth:

There has been good advice on flying through London....any info on if it is practical to go through Paris. Not sure if we would, but we are considering staying for a couple of days and visiting DLP.

Different note...my boys are home today and watching HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL...again!!! Funny thing is it really sets the day with a bit of energy and puts them in that whole teamwork mode. I think our kids have watched it at least twice a week since it came out. The school is using at least two songs in our Spring Sing. Funny how this has really made a positive influence in several grades.

if you look back through the thred I posted a link about a train service from Paris to Barcelona, this can be linked with the Channel Tunnel Service EuroStar from London to Paris.
Flights to barcelona wouldn't go through Paris although obviously you could do London - Paris, Paris - Barcelona, but then you might as well fly into Paris to start with.

I LOVE your post, disneylover!!! :cool1:

BTW, we've got staterooms!! 6630, 6631!!!!! :thumbsup2

I decided to keep in touch with the younger crowd and find out what all the fuss was about so I recorded this tonight. I don't get to rave to the youngin's about Grease if I can't relate to the latest teen musical.

I hope I don't feel too silly watching - but admit it... all of you - you've read all the Harry Potter books yourself. ;)

AJ-

Good choice on Grease too! We let ours watch this year. It was a riot to listen to my kids singing the entire show...just like I did when I was in eighth grade! Have to admit...I like High School Musical too. It's fun. Actually we have exposed our kids to at least one musical and one black and white on every trip we take. This year they watched Easter Parade! One of their favorites is Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

So, what did you think of HSM???

By the way Lynn...thanks for the reminder of the train idea!!! Options...options...options!

Sleep well all!

None for us, I am so sad :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1: :sad2:

I went to two bookstores last night, Barnes and Nobel and Boarders and neither one had the Med Cruise book. I found it on Amazon and ordered it there.
I can't wait to get it, you would think we were cruising next week :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I just want to join in the board. Heck, I can't go, but can live vicariously through you guys! Hi JoAnn and Lynn!!!

You guys will have a blast!

JoAnn ~ I was just thinking about you. YOu have a house full of kids for the sweet 16 and I am watching Barry Manilow singing on Larry King Live!!! :lmao: Who's having the most fun???? :lmao:

We would love to get our cabin numbers put in...We are 6099 and 6098!!!
To those that have not gotten their papers...keep the faith!!!! They will be coming! Believe! :tink: Remember, Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust!!!

Which Med cruise book are you getting????
How are everyone else's book reviews coming??? We will be travelling with friends who went to Rome this last fall...LOVED it! We are hoping to get good info from them. I don't know their cabin # and they aren't boarders...at least not yet! They are Mike and Dianne, Jonathan, will be 12, and Lauren, will be 8. I will definitely relay any info I get that could be helpful!

Looked into hotels today, too. Looking for post cruise. The Grand Marina seems to be at the top of everybody's list. Didn't see availability for summer 2007.

Hey, Jenny..........JOIN US!!!............i THINK YOU WIN.......Barry Manilow rules!! :cool1:

I haven't booked a hotel yet, but that's because I'm still debating what to do. We'll probably spend two nights in Barcelona, and I'm thinking that we want to go to DLP, but I'm still not sure if we want to do that before or after the cruise. I certainly don't want to have to rush anywhere.
