Darn - ok this maybe a groundhog moment for Andrew - sorry! Anyway, I am extremely frustrated - mentioned on another thread that I pought 2 videio ipods - one for DD-20 and myself - my first ever! Anyway, DD uploaded her and was using within the first 5 hours - mine - I just bought it yesterday and after about 8 hrs of trying to charge - finally got it hooked up and guess what? This LOVELY, BRAND-NEW, EMPTY Video IPOD is CORRUPTED!!!!!

So apparently, I am the kiss of death of not only to my DS's relationships with girls (hence he won't intruduce them to me unless they been going out for 1 year) and now anything electronic - DH yelled at me and told me he's never seen anyone like me who can ruin a brand new - toy - plus - there was not directions in the box - had to download a manual from apple.com in order to view the directions - I was so frustrated with the darn thing that I was until 5 am! I finally packaged the darn thing up and am hoping the store will exchange this - I just bought it yesterday - anybody else have this problem? I'm so and at the same time - I don't know what to do! Please tell me someone else has this problem - I notieced on our last cruise this same problem - I lost about 500 pictures right in the middle of Barbados - thank God a friend was able to recover - and another beautiful person on the excursion was able to lend me a card until I got back on the ship - that was anothe escapade I must tell you about later. In the meantime, someone make me feel better and tell you too are the Kiss of Death on something? I don't want to be a loner!

Well, this is not good, particularly after seeing the pictures. But, we may have to back out. It seems ELW's department may close, which will leave her out on the street. Well, not really, she still can live at home. But, without a paying job. Which makes the cruise all of a sudden real iffy. And, this was to be our 30th Anniversary trip. We may have to settle for dinner at Chucky Cheese. We are trying to look at numbers and see if we can work this out, but it's tough. Personnaly, I think heating and hot water are overrated, but I may be voted out on this.
So, we'll see what the next few days brings. I'll keep you informed.

Dear Laura,

Don't feel bad, this tech situation is moving too quickly. I just obtained my first really nice digital and now I lost the port that allows you to charge it. I'm such an idiot! I really need to get this straightened out before this summer. (I'm hoping my DD20 will help me, soon!) We're all in the same boat (nice pun!) ...Really!! I have an Ipod, but I'm completely illiterate with that as well!

Andrew, gorgeous pics!! I don't think we can go wrong, both of those cities look beautiful (I'm alittle scared of heights, however!) There are so many decisions, hopefully, we'll know in just a few days!

This is a very hard one, the dollar dare I say is loosing value a lot at the current time we went over the £1= $2 mark this week and the pound is predicted to get stronger as we will increase interest rates on May 10th.

I have found that as the local countries have an abundance of local currency it is often better locally it its own country than abroad, hence dollars better i USA etc.

But shop around, the tourist places shops, airports etc give bad rates, far better in banks.

Credit cards our exchange rate on credit cards is far better than in cash/money.

I am not an expert on Italy, but in the UK purchase from main retailers online seem to be the best.

DCL will have an exchange facility at the port, it says so in the doc's.

But apart from local purchase the issue is how much more the dollar will fall in the coming weeks.

Thanks Andrew - I will have to decide how much to exchange and maybe I will exchange half of that amount here and the other half have my parents do it for me in Italy.

Need to figure out how much soon. So far, except for Palermo, we are doing all dcl excursions (never heard from the taxi company in Obia either). Need to estimate money for tipping, gelato , pizza, drinks and a souvenour here and there. I am sure I am forgetting something .
