Ok, as near as I can figure, here who is arriving into Barcelona when:
24th: MrsJobba1
26th: Kyla (eve), Eeyorelvr10 (eve), RuthB
27th: LynnTarrant, PixieDustII, MrsG, profdsny
28th: jlawall

:cool1:

Yes that's right for me. SM bags sound like a good idea -so count me in:goodvibes
I booked the pre and post hotel independley as there were much cheaper than Disney. So we're in Hotel Jazz prior to the cruise and AC barcelona post crusie.
Would love to do Palo but travelling alone with my son- so count me out:sad1: sure your all have a great time though;)

Is anyone else travelling alone with children? and any other 12 year old boys going?:confused3

We're arriving on the 26th. Did I get the date wrong? We're taking the red eye on Wed. so we arrive Thurs. morning Barcelona time. Can't wait!

I have a Razr from Verizon and that will not work in Europe. Then I looked into renting a phone. That would cost over $50.

So, I then found a phone that you can buy for $50 and you get the SIM card, the phone, and voltage adapters for different countries. You do not have a monthly service charge. Your assigned a UK phone number and your charged only when you use the phone. I actually upgraded to the higher priced phone because we cruise often and I have clients in Europe and it will work all over the world with the upgrade plus I can call from the U.S.. The standard phone will work all over Europe and several other countries.

Send me an e-mail for more details!! I can get you a $10 call credit!!!

Interesting that you posted that because I was wondering. I read a Rick Steves thing a week or so ago that mentioned just buying phone cards over there to call home. He said it was a lot cheaper per minuet or call. Now, I'm not a big RS fan, but is that right? What has other's experience been?
Btw, thanks for posting that info and doing the research.

The SM grab bags sound like fun. Now I need to think of something to get.

Helen, again thanks for the informative links:thumbsup2

Aren't you also on the West Bound Panama....I think that makes three of us!!

Rick Steves also recommended the phone I bought. It just depends on how often your going to use the calling card vs. the phone. To load the calling card more than once could justify the purchase of this phone. The phone does not have a monthly service charge. You just pay as you go for the airtime. To call the US from Spain is $1.95 per min. and from Italy and France it is $1.50 per. You can also get the upgraded phone and that will cover you all over the world including the Carribean, Caymans, etc..

So if you travel outside the United States often it is a great phone to have.

I think the $99 phone is better, because it works in Mexico......what do you think?

Hey all, we are getting so cool on this board!! Thx to all for the amazing suggestions...........so far I haven't arranged my transfers from the airport but I'm thinking of doing DCL. We booked our air on our own..........we're leaving the night before on a "red eye"............

I have had room delivery thru DCL before, it's really nice, I think it's just charged to the room, it's a nice surprise...........MAYBE WE SHOULD JUST MEET UP AND ENJOY OUR WELCOME CELEBRATION TOGETHER.........

I have been away from the boards for awhile - but we would be happy to participate in a DIS grab bag for the cruise. For Mexico last year, we brought those Mickey antenna toppers with the golden 50th anniversary ears - everyone loved them! We all swapped stuff at a DIS meet in the lounge.

We are travelling with my family (5), my sister's family (4) and my mom and her husband. We have four category 3 suites, and we are arriving in Barcelona 7/25 and staying at the Hotel Arts til the cruise, then coming right home after the cruise.

We need to decide on our excursions - would love help from anyone that has suggestions - we have 5 kids in our group age 8 down to age 2.
Looking forward to a great cruise!

Pixie dust,

Susy

OK Palos brunch, I had a call they will let me know about 30 days before, if we have the private dinning area, I have requested Brunch first sea day, for thoose of you who have been in contact, you cannot take this as guaranteed, DCL will confirm near the time if they can do it, but they havent said No!

I need your DCL confirmation numbers and names as I lost these last year, thoose in contact since yesterday no problem.

Spaces 14 in total.

Absolute best deal I think!!:surfweb:

I bought that one because in the event that we ever do go on a west coast cruise we will be all set. :thumbsup2

Hey there Buck4568 - I was just about to buy 2 that also work in Europe and Mexico but I was willing to pay $150 - can you pm me or send me the info on the one you got? I think the one I was considering didn't have the plugs - will have have to recheck the link - thanks - :thumbsup2 I knew I was waiting for a reason - I was a little skeptical thinking this might be a ripoff - hope it isn't - you keep the same # right? Is the phone a locked phone with their dedicated SIM card? Thanks a bunch! :)

Hello all, hope your all well.
We are arraiving on the 26th( my son and i)and have heard of a light dispaly at one of the fountain in Barcelona on Friday night that other cruise threads are meeting at- so this is possible if anyone is interested?

as promised-the Magic Fountain of Montjuic -Barcelona Photo Guide

The magic fountain of Montjuïc's first performance was on May 19, 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition. The designer Carles Buigas submitted his plans one year before the exhibition and many thought that the project was too ambitious to be created, let alone completed on time.

Over 3000 workers were commissioned to work on the project and less than 1 year later the magic fountain was born.

The magic fountain is a spectacular display of colour, light, motion, music and water acrobatics - if you mix all these elements together in just the right combinations, you end up with pure magic! The magic fountain is a "must see" when you come to Barcelona and highly recommended.

Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 pm to midnight

Entrance Fee: Free :goodvibes

Hi Suzy, :welcome: back

RE: Children's excursions

In my guide books, I have read really good things about the chocolate museum in Barcelona, I know they hold activities and workshops especially for Children. However I believe these have to be booked in advance.

I think this is their website and you can contact them through this (if you scroll down the page it tells you about the childrens workshops)

Also

These are two threads I've found on taking children on a med cruise and kid friendly tours

Hope they help:goodvibes

Hi all - just checking in again - bumping us up again so that I don't have to scroll down so far - LOL - anyone else flying up to Paris when they get off? If so - when and who are you all taking? Airlines that is - and Disney or non-Disney? Orly or CDG? Staying on-site or off? May be have been addressed somewhere but haven't had time to go back - I'm skipping between a lot of threads here - so as our esteemed Gover ARRRR-nold S. says - I'll be back!;)

checking in to see if anyone's had a chance to respond - will check in later! :thumbsup2

good morning - 4 weeks till we can book excursions !!!
:goodvibes

Dont know about anyone else but Im getting really nervous about that. :confused3 Dh says to relax and if we dont get what we want we'll just have to chill on the boat. But the whole point about going on the med for me is to see some of it. :rolleyes1

I know what you mean, its a lottery sometimes, to take the pain out of it for me this time, I have most of my trips as private tours, booked already so the 29th is not make or break for me, and the two ports where I will use DCL, I am not that bothered if I do/do not get the trips.

Done Palo's before, will not go for Dinner, as I want to be with kids.
