Thanks Rose Petal for the review. that was very helpful. Wonder if I can talk my sister into doing this and splitting the cost.:rolleyes1

Hi,
Just wondered if anyone could help.

We have booked the AC Barcelona privatly (it was half the price disney was charging) for the day we leave the ship.

Just wondered if anyone knew how much the disney tranfer from ship to the hotel would be? Or would it be easier just to find a taxi @ the port.
Does anyone know if there are taxi's at the port?:confused3

Thanks
ps
I would love to do the mexican cruises next year - but we couldn't afford it.
I know when I leave the ship I will be unbearable as we dont have anymore cruises in the pipeline so to speak
x

Check these links out, the Disney Magic will be in Terminal C at 0430am till 10pm:

http://www.apb.es/en/PORT/Cruises/Terminals/Terminal_C_Moll_Adossat

I believe you can take a taxi but there is a shuttle that runs along the road in front of the World Trade Center that you can connect to from Metro or buses. I'm trying to find the link for that.

If you zoom in you can see the path of the Port Bus to the cruise terminals. It starts at the Columbus monument which is near the Drassanes Metro station.
Here is another good link: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/transport/barcelona-cruise-port.html
It says that the taxi to the terminal from city center is about 8 euros

I am back from my quick 3 day on the Wonder. We had wonderful weather. (80 degrees and sunny) I booked 8 cruises while on the Wonder. 6 reservations were for friends that we moved to Thanksgiving 08 (60 of us will be cruising together). The other two were for me :3dglasses :3dglasses :3dglasses

I moved one to the Westbound Panama for just me and my DS18. The other I moved to Eastbound Panama for DH DD14 and DD12.

DCL will bankrupt me!!

I know Andrew will be on the Eastbound Panama. Any one else on either of these Repo cruises?

Like Andrew, we have been swept up in the booking frenzie of Jan 31st. We got lucky and got both Repos with room #'s

Life is Good

WELL DONE SEE YOU ON THE E/BOUND AS WELL

I do not know the DCL transfer prices guess $30pp ( its that to the airport)but a taxi will be cheap and easy to have

My solution was to book a room at Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel. Published rates are ludicrously high ($1,166 - $6,477); fortunately, I was able to pre-book last year for $330USD/night via a popular online site. We'll probably wind up in a broom closet....

Couldn't be any more convenient:

So, do you think taking a taxi directly from the airport will be cheaper than transfers?? I thought the transfers were about $50pp (RT) on previous DCL trips.............:moped:

The excursion article was fantastic...........every once in awhile I've booked non-ship excursions but those are, most often, when we've been "ripped off"...............however, sometimes DCL offers less choices than what could be arranged. Almost everytime, I do it myself there is additional stress. That being said, last summer we cruised on RCL AND THERE WAS NO COMPARISON between their excursions and DCL. DCL is much more organized and enjoyable, there's always alittle "Magic" as well.

It's just hard to know which to choose..........:confused3 :hourglass

I will be taking a taxi from the ship to the hotel (Ac Barcelona) Its not that far from the port and I think it would be cheaper thatn $30 pp.

I just wanted to check there was a taxi rank near our terminal.

Thanks guys

I talked to Disney a while ago and was wondering the same. They said the transfer for airport to ship is $50. And then to add in hotel to port is $84 (I believe its free if you book your hotel via Disney but $84 if you book your own flight). But I believe I saw somewhere that you can only get the hotel to port transfer if you book via Disney for your hotel.

I too booked at the Grand Marina but I ended up booking on my own. Disney wants about $75 more for the rooms (and it seems some of the other hotels you can save quite a bit by booking on your own). I tried to book via Disney early on but I think I will just cancel those. Not sure why Disney is so much more unless they are reserving the better rooms?

We also booked the Grand Marina on our own for pre and post cruise nights. Does anyone know if the terminal is in walking
distance of the hotel?

Hi Future Sailor, :wave2:

Will you be sailing with us?

Welcome if you are.

We should update our cruise list soon. I have not seen many previous posters on here.

Well, I had anticipated that DCL would use Terminal Maritime Internationale, Quai Barcelona, Terminal S (Barcelona Sud, 18 C) -- as pictured below, sharing the wharf with Eurostars Grand Marina & the World Trade Center.

Unfortunately, it appears that DCL is currently assigned to berth at Terminal Maritrime Internationale, Quai Adossat, Terminal C.

Is this a good book or can someone tell me which one I should buy?

FWIW -- I elected to purchase the handy AAA Spiral Guides to a few of our ports:
  • Barcelona
  • Rome
  • Tuscany
  • Florence

Of course, there are plenty of other well-reviewed series, including: Rick Steves' guides, Eyewitness Top 10 travel guides, the Lonely Planet series, etc.

Our private guide in Barcelona, Jose Soler http://www.pepitotours.com/, just published this tome:
  • Title: Barcelona -- Then and Now
  • Publisher: Thunder Bay Press
  • Date: December 2006
  • ISBN:9781592236572

Before visiting Florence, I plan to read about Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi's dome design for the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral.
  • Title: Brunelleschi's Dome: How a Renaissance Genius Reinvented Architecture
  • Author: Ross King
  • Publisher: Penguin Books
  • Date: January 2003
  • ISBN: 9780142000151
