Thanks everyone - I totally escaped my mind to start backward - I got distracted, butr your right that's the best way to start. Also, thanks for the trip oin the med forum and the excursion forum didn't even know about those ones. Have a great day everyone!

Hi Laura just wanted to say welcome :goodvibes

This time next week its feb and another month down till the cruise

Hi everyone - my name is Laura and I checked into this thread sometime last year. Plans weren't finalized yet and promptly forgot until today about this thread. A couple of questions if anyone can help. Is there a check-in spot or is there somebody in charge who will be kind enough to let me know of anything going on? I am wondering if I need to go through all the 48 pages to catch up. As I learned on another thread - that may be impossible sometimes. LOL -

Anyway, we are a group of 6 traveling in 2 cabins. Our group consists of: DH-41, ME-41, DS-22, DD-21, DD's friend-21 and youngest DD-15. As this is our first trip to Europe so therefore we are have no clue where to begin. Unfortunately, my TA doesn't have a lot of info on Europe, Barcelona or France as she mainly books stateside. Hoping I can get lots of tips and info from everyone. I have yet to be disappointed by my DIS family & friends.

In case anyone catches the profile. I forgot my original name and password and ended up using my oldest daughter's name and just took that over. So I am on the level and could really use some help in planning this trip. Thanks to anyone that could help.

Hi Laura - (what was your old screen name here? no matter :) )

We are a family of five - two cabins also, Myself and DH, DS 21, DS 19 and DD 14. We are traveling with Disneymagic316, her parents, her bil and sil.

This will be our fourth DCL cruise and I was born in Italy and have only been back once when I was a teenager. I am really excited because I was born near Palermo and I am looking forwad io having relatives meet us at the port to take us to my hometown and stroll down where I lived, the piazza, etc.

We have browsed some of the excursions and have some idea of what we want to do. We plan on keeping it short in obia and (4 - 5 tour) and I think Villafranche or Marseille.

Welcome again. Will post excursions again in another thread.:)

Anna. I did not realise this, it must be really special to go back to your old town. I am excited for you ;)

:goodvibes

Thanks Helen.

I am exicited. It brings tears to my eyes when I think about walking down the street. I can't wait. I was nine when I came to the U.S. so I remember some and 14/15 when I went back to visit - it's been a while.

Let me toss out a DISmeet location and time for our review........how about 10pm in the back bar (I forgot what it's called, someone help me!)..... you know, the one behind, Rockin'Bar D..... :dance3: :cool1: :yay: I believe we depart at 9pm so by 10, we'll be ready to convene!

Thank you for starting to think about this

I wonder what will happen about dinner that night? I know in the past when we've had the late late seating ie 8:30 we dont normally finish dinner until 10. But that means all those on second seating will miss the sailaway party:confused3

Could I suggest 10:15 for the meet, just to give anyone who has late dinner time to nip back to room and change?

Dont know about anyone else but Im starting to get really excited:goodvibes

Bar's a great choice, but should there be something for the underage also? Or will they all be settled into the clubs by then?
As an alternative, and just an idea is all, since first day is at sea, what if it was a morning meet somewhere the day after we leave? Then we can find a bar that's open.
Btw, wouldl DCL give us a meeting room, or reserve a spot of a meet? Maybe bring in coffee pop or snacks? Seeing as we are a great group, on the board, maybe they would comp it?

Hi, welcome. There are about 3 boards right now. This, for those of us going on this cruise, a general Med forum, and a new excursion forum. So, by the time July comes around, you should just about finish reading all the posts.
I might suggest that you read from the back. That will be more current, and you can breeze through things that don't really apply.
Like everyone else, I'm waiting for what our meeting spot is going to be for the group. Excursions will be interesting also, with lots of ideas. If you have the travel channel, make sure you watch for the programs with Samantha Brown in Europe. I think there is one for almost every one of the stops, however, haven't seen one yet on Sicily or Sardinia.
Anyhow, welcome again.
Can you provide a link for the new excursion forum? I can't find it. Thanks

Thx for keeping us alive while I WAS IN NYC with my DISfriends from the last West Coast cruise!!!

Could someone please remind me what the "back bar" is called behind Rockin' Bar D? 10:15pm would be fine...........that's a good point about dinner.........I do want to be on deck when we depart and we always have late seating..........did anyone else hear that maybe we won't depart until 10pm, BTW? That would solve the dinner conflict, in which case we should meet at maybe 10:30pm.........about the kids...............a few years ago, a DIS meet I was in, had our group meet on the Deck 9 at the pool around 10pm.....the problem was that most of the kids weren't there anyway or didn't stay...........we ended up having an informal meet in the check-in when they opened the ship up around 12 noon............so..............how many are planning to check-in when we can at noon on Saturday??? That meet formed some really special friendships............what do you think about that??

Of course, the kids need to meet, hopefully on such a long cruise, our kids could hang out in their respective age groups............let's keep planning, all!! :woohoo:  :cool1: :thumbsup2

Diversions?

Not sure when we will check in. Depends if we do a shore excursion in Barcelona. But otherwise, we will try to be there at checkin at noon.

Andrew, I haven't been keeping up. Whatever happen with the group reservations at Palo? did they go through?

Our flight arrives early - we have dcl transfers - if all goes well, we should be there at noon also.

:moped: I'm pretty sure we will check in at 12 noon and then maybe leave the ship after we're settled. We fly in early Saturday morning..........now one thing I read indicated that Barcelona has a long siesta each day from 12 to 4? Anyone else hear that?? Just thought I'd ask.......:scratchin

Let's consider meeting at check in in the lobby before they call us to go in (the earlier you get there, the less time you wait, usually).........Diversions is the name of the "back bar" I think............let's keep that as Plan B..........we should know how the departure will go when we get closer........pixiedust:

We can also think of another time and spot (like 4pm on Deck 10?):cool1:

Let us know, Andrew about the Palo ressie as well.........that's another really great way for all of us to get together.........also if any of us plan excursions, that could be fun..............

Are we allowed to book excursions 90 days out? Does anyone know for sure?
