This thread travels a bit!!! slower than the other one, what tips would you like?

Well - we finally got the airfare down - but tossing hotels around for Barcelona and Paris - would you suggest staying in Paris or onsite? We do want to do other sights in Paris. My son's friend recommended that we stay in Paris & just take the Metro into DL Paris.

Also, do you know of any company that might meet and great at the airport? Don't have any idea on how far the airport is from the terminal and how we'd get there as we are getting in 2 days before sailing date. We will probably be over there for 3 weeks so we will be traveling with lots of luggage. Also, we'll be getting into Barcelona around 6:30. Is it dark then? Will we have plenty of time to get to the hotel, when we find one? Also have heard most rooms over in Europe are rather small. Will 2 rooms be rather crowded for a party of 6? Thanks for your help -

Staying onsite is more expensive but you will be ontop of everything there its compact, and can get to Paris easily, the Metro station for RER to Paris is under Downtown disney.

The journey takes about 40 mins so it is up to you, your preference,
COST Paris is cheaper, plenty to do there, it is easy to get to DLP, but if you want to get into the parks early and have Disney magic staying onsite is better.

I do not know a company transfering at DLP but DLP itself has a shuttle service to Charles De Gual Airport.

Hotel rooms in Europe are generally smaller than USA, so yes best to split up unless get a family suite, I have one in Barcelona.

Barcelona airport isnt that far from the city or the port to the south, Taxi coach or train transfers are easy availabile and very cheap. it isnt a problem take 20mins/30 mins max, bar Rush hour. I am in conact with one transfer company for arrival, havent had confirmation as yet, will post if I do, but I might do train on arrical, I have booked DCL transfer for the end

There are additionally trains from Paris overnight to Barcelona analternatice to flying.

DLP the disneylandpark can be done in a full day, Studios is smaller about three quarters of a day.

Hi everyone,

Checking in again.

We're going to be flying in to Paris also, probably flying in on Sunday or Monday prior to the cruise, and spend a couple of days sightseeing, including one day @ DLP.

Then we're planning on taking the overnighter train from Paris to Barcelona Wednesday night.

We'll spend a couple of days in Barcelona. I'd like to visit Monserrat, and then board the ship on Saturday. :boat:

After the cruise, plans are to travel to a town in northern Spain, then a day or two in Madrid (if my cousins let us go lol).

We plan on flying home on August 18.

Sounds great DLP will be hard in a day during summer though.

Sounds like a nice plan/trip :)

I envy all of you who can take so much time off. I wish dh had not only vacation time but paid vacation time:sad2: .

Just paid off balance of my cruise. :woohoo:

Congrats on paying off cruise, I also paid off my 2008 Repo as the dollar rate was so good, but have to pay for USA flights in September.

I will do a week at Barcellona before the cruise flying BA but will come back the last day of the cruise.

Anna, Congrats on paying off your cruise. I plan on doing that in the near future. That plus the flights will be a good chunk of change.

Andrew - we figure that DLP will be pretty packed. We just want to check out the differences between that park and Disneyland. We live close to DL, and go there a lot, so we're not expecting to go on every attraction. We're only going there on one day. We're more interested in the Louvre, Eiffel Tower & other Parisian spots. :)

UKand Europe school holidays start about that time so yes will be very packed indeed. Off season I think it could be done in a day, but at peak you will miss things. Paris is great so you do not wish to miss thoose sites as well so it is a balance on your time.

Big Thunder mountain, space mountain mission 2, POTC, are must sees all different to USA ones in some way, I think BTM in DLP is the best of the three parks.

DLP is quite compact more like a small DL CL with a small Downtown disney next door. Not like spread out WDW. Its easy to walk park to park.

Mr Andrew - seems like I've heard that name before????:rolleyes1

Anyway, just popped over here to show my oldest the difference in boards. We too are on this cruise. Didn't put two and two together until tonight - Your on top of the ball - We're winging it - we 'ascared' of the flight and we're intimidated but we'll jump on the bandwagon soon enough!

Any hints you can toss our way?

Okay, this is just toooooooooooo weird.

We are on this cruise with you.
We are on the Westbound Panama with you
We are on the Eastbound Panama with you

Do you think someone is trying to tell us we need to meet??

Thank you for the tips. We'll probably just hit the big attractions, including the ones you just named. Sounds a little like Disneyland here in CA, where everything is within walking distance. We won't have time to visit the resorts, which is a shame, but maybe another time.

The same thing happened @ WDW last December. We were there for just a couple of days, and spent a few hours at MK, Epcot, & MGM Studios. We still had fun.

Hi all,

Just checking in- I would love to do a repro cruise but sadly my bank balance doesn't agree;) Im sure you will have fun!

Anna- congrats in paying off your cruise

Andrew - 158 posts deserves a congratulations too - now I take it there is a button somewhere that tells you how many posts you've done -if you sat and counted them all well ...:surfweb:

Now?

Dh and I are on late seating and have requested the 8pm slot. I was wondering if there was anyone who would like to link reservations and sit with us for dinner? As there is just the two of us? We did this last year and it was nice to know the people in advance.

Let me know anyhow -either here or Pm if you prefer.

Take care all
H xx

158 Post must get a life- if you go to the front cruise meets page look at this thread click replies it tells you.

I am on early but it might clash with a few shore trips been reconfirming them this weekend. Kids like early and if I was on late they would eat too much junk food.

INTERESTING ON MAIN CRUISE FORUM
I just spoke to someone at Disney. She said for the 11 days formal night is the 2nd night the 7th night & the 10th night (in france) I haven't received my packet as of yet.

She also said the day that we leave, in Barcelona, we can check in our luggage on the ship at 1pm, have lunch & then leave & tour Barcelona. We need to be back by 9 pm.

I am so happy about this, since I wanted to tour, but didn't know what to do with our luggage. If your staying in a Hotel that is with Disney, then you will not have to worry about your luggage at all, Disney will deliver it to the ship.

She also said, while on tours, if there are long lines, someone from Disney will be there to entertain us.

She said that the kids club, will have themes that have to do with our tours.

Hope this helps

Patricia

Lifeboat drill day two at sea then??????????????????????????????????

Ok, this is very interesting........first of all, it tells me we won't be leaving until about 10pm.........also, I guess we can all eat dinner late seating and still go to sail away (and our potential DISmeet, if that's what people want!) We will sit with you Mrs. Jobba, but I'm not sure about the 8pm time, how do you get that?? I would love to eat then! We are a family of 5, with my two parents (and hopefully lynntarrant - a couple of 2 from GB as well).........so how can I get the 8pm late seating??

Also, we won't pay off our cruise until late April, then we'll have to book our excursions!!! I'm leaning towards the DCL ones, but we'll see..........hope all is well..........we're hoping for some snow this week!!!

Just checked DCL website very very limited availability on our cruise as follows:-
07/28/2007 11-Night Mediterranean Cruise Category 06 : Deluxe Stateroom w/ Verandah $ 14,440.04
07/28/2007 11-Night Mediterranean Cruise Category 08 : Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom $ 12,840.04
07/28/2007 11-Night Mediterranean Cruise Category 09 : Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom $ 12,440.04
07/28/2007 11-Night Mediterranean Cruise Category 10 : Deluxe Inside Stateroom $ 11,040.04
07/28/2007 11-Night Mediterranean Cruise Category 11 : Standard Inside Stateroom $ 11,040.04

No its one way only -£84 in total for both ways
;)

So in reading this, it sounds like we can have one bag for free if its under 25K. If its over 25k then there is a fee.

Since I'm coming from the USA, then I get two bags less than 25K for free. Am I reading that correctly?

I just booked with limoinrome for a full day Rome tour. I got Claudio for your driver guide. Still need to look at the other ports:surfweb: This is going to take me forever. I think I will just go with DCL for Pompeii. I booked Grand Marina on my own since it seems a bit cheaper and I couldn't get the days I wanted through Disney anyway. I got the two nights before for $246/nite (pre-tax) and nite on return for $226. I see that they will charge a 7.5% VAT but I wonder what else? I wonder if it would be cheaper to go with Disney if I could get the days I wanted considering the transfers (resort to ship) would be included.

So am I reading this right? The prices look doubled what we booked.
ETA: This must be for four people but still seems like prices went up quite a bit.
