I read somewhere else that the semi-formal nights were not posted in the navigators so there is less of a need for formal wear?:confused3

I think there is less need, but it doesn't mean that it won't be fun to dress up a bit, particularly on sea days (other than the first, which of course will be the actual formal night).

Your Vacation begins in 400 Days

(well thats next year)

Is that true? Is today 400 days until embarkation on the Panama Canal cruise! Wow, that sounds like a long time from now, and yet I'm sure it will be here in no time.

We're all thinking of you . . . let us know!

Not sure about that - but I read that they add it to laundry if you have laundry done - bummer!!

We ordered a phone from here: http://www.mobalrental.com/gsm/handsets.asp

It came very quickly.

Congrats!!

We are going to Paris after the cruise (but we aren't going to DLP - no flogging, please) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hope this works out ok for you!!

That's harsh!!

Well, I'm feeling bad that I'm not doing tshirts or fish extenders. Just too much for me - maybe next cruise. I am doing the gift bag and lanyards - I think that'll be enough for me. My family will probably give me a hard time once we get on the boat - but they aren't helping with any of this, so too bad!!

On second thought, what was the easiest way to do the shirts - online, I mean? Cafepress? Too many posts back for me to check. Did you do the pocket and the back too? I don't know, do you think any of the places saved what you guys sent in? Suggestions??

Cafepress was quick and easy. On post 12828 are the links to the graphics.

Well, we're nutty enough to go to a party at the Barnes and Noble 3 blocks from our apartment, and enjoy the games and such until getting our copy at midnight!

That does sound nutty Julie. But lots of fun!!!!!!!!! The hardest part would be to go to sleep without reading it.:sad2:

Hi Gang,

DH here.... firstly for you ATT/Cingular users who'd like some info. I went to my local store and inquired about their Intl. Services. I was given an 800 number to call: 1-800-335-4685

In a nutshell they have two plans:
  1. $5.99 per month / $.99 a minute roaming fee
  2. $0.00 per month / $1.29 a minute roaming fee

So, since we're only going to call a couple of times, we went with the $1.29 per minute plan with no monthly charge.

Looks like we'll be catching the shuttle from the airport to DLP. Hoping to hook up with a few of you folks on the cruise doing the same thing afterwards.

I started a blog at blogspot. Not sure how active we'll be but hopefully we can keep it going.

Not much in the travel docs pouch... less than we remember from our previous DCL cruises... hopefully it's all there

Who did you contact for the Orly to Paris shuttle?
I need to do that too.

Leslie, I used the same company for both Barcelona and Paris - we fly into Orly and they said that the mini-vans would be better for our large group. They are supposed to have AC and they will meet you outside customs with your name on a placard.

They were pretty quick with the confirmation, the site is as follows: (Hope I don't get into trouble for listing it: www.airport-shuttle.com.

They seemed pretty reasonable. There is a couple of other ones that were a bit more but I liked the idea of the company being in both countries so I had a history - course it could work the opposite direction too. Who knows.

Anyway, it was about $120 Euros from the airport to the hotel but we are coming in before 7 pm. So there might be a slight higher charge for nighttie pick-up.

They charge per group - I think they can accommodate up to 8 pr mini-van and Private is much better for large groups. The vehicles are supposed to be a bit on the upper class so we can hope that our big buts will fit in them. :lmao:

Let me know how things go - I got a response within minutes! Course I was on late too! ;)

Hi Guys

Until a few days ago we didn't realise that there's such a community of similarly afflicted so here's our first post.
We've done WDW and DLC more times than our our friends over here can bear too hear and this is our 3rd DCl with 2 more booked.
The question though, is whether or not the DJ(Tux) to most of you guys, can stay at home and a Linen Suit will do for the formal and semi-formal nights. Any ideas?
ps tickets turned up yesterday by UPS and we just cant wait:goodvibes :confused3

OK, Maryann, that was almost too easy - I ordered shirts for all 5 of us - went ahead and upgraded shipping, we're leaving a week from Monday. I'm sure my family will think they are dorky - but that is my job, right, to embarrass them!! If nothing else, they can be worn with a bathing suit as a tshirt.
Thank you so much for making that painless for me!!
I did purchase my gift bag items today - even got a cute Montana gift bag (tee hee hee).

I'm gonna check them out. I'm winging it in Barcelona. I keep hearing that taxis are reasonable and plentiful. We get in at 11:05 am. But, I'd like to have something organized for Paris. Did you get a recommendation on this company? Or find them yourself?

Can't answer that one but soon you will be inundated with answers.
Welcome!!! Where are you from?

Welcome!!!!! Check out our first page for more info about us and the things we've organized for the cruise.

DH is doing a tux for the first time. The main reason is so he doesn't have to waste the space in the luggage for a jacket. Just read some where that there doesn't seem to be any semi formal nights in the navigators (check about a page or two back). It lists the nights as cruise casual. Not 100% sure.

Hi Helen - DH put down a huge onboard credit to be used for our excursions. So yes, you can pay for it ahead of time. He put down just enough to cover the cost of our DCL excursions which we will be cancelling once I can get on the site and not kicked off that is!

Thanks for thinking about this! We already had our on board credit for booking, but had not thought about adding to it like this---great idea!:thumbsup2 I made the phone call and put a nice additional amount into an on board credit so that really helps out! Now maybe that paper will fit under the door after an 11 day cruise!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

go to blogspot.com /and click make new blog / you pick a template / and you are done / and it's free

Okay, above is the directions from my DD22, she's working so I cut and pasted this from an AIM!!!:confused3

It's not much yet, but we've set one up...

Yes, welcome, welcome. I'm taking my tux. I don't care if it's just for one night. It's the whimsical of it that appeals to me.

GOOD NEWS!
DCL docs are in hand. Now, off to Target for something else the DW wants for the trip. Our checkbook has been bleeding for the past month.

Question about Paris:
We are quite content to wander and take metros on our own while in Paris. But, we really want to do Versaille too and I'm unsure how to organize this one. Should we just take the train there ourselves? Or do you really need a guide to do it justice? Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

I just noticed in the great post that JoAnn found (thanks JoAnn) the mention about only one formal night and no semi-formals - all cruise casual. Think we should ditch the semi-formal clothing?????????

Maryann

I like to dress up, and what I have out is easy to pack and does not wrinkle, soooooo---I think I will probably take it anyway!!

Hi Kidcoos and MrsG

We are from NW England, between Liverpool and Manchester.
Still can't believe what a popular board this is.
I've seen one of the Navigators which triggered my question on the Tux's but wasn't certain if it was 'official' or not, it would certainly make packing easier if we could lose one suit.
Is it worth posting somewhere else on the board or will the answer find us anyway?

Oh Boy, is she the first to report only one formal? My dd was just trying her dresses own. She loves to get dress anyway. Perhaps I should bring the semi-formal for the formal and the rest casual?

Don't feel bad. We are not doing fish extenders either. I would do the t-shirts but I am totally clueless as to what everyone is doing when ordering them. Are they ordering just plain t-shirts? Is the iron-on transfer thing coming from somewhere?:confused3 :confused3 I am so confused, so unless someone wants to order them for me (and I can pay them), I will not be doing this.

I want to bring as less as possible. I overstuffed my luggage for WDW.

I just mailed a package to Italy which weighed 11.4 lbs - it cost me $59.10 because I did not want that extra weight in my luggage.

Hi,

Are you on our cruise? Welcome.

Mary Jo - where are you? How did everything go today? Waiting for some good news.

Documents are now in the house. It is now becoming a reality.

Starting to organize papers in folder and throwing some junkie ones out.

Docs say ashore for Palermo at 5:30 am. Should I have my relatives meet me at 6/6:30 am?
