Hello all I know I've not been around for ages but "life" just got in the way. Me, Paul and the boys are all just fine.

Josh has started at his new senior school and is really loving it. I'm glad I fought like mad and appealed to get him in there as he seems to have bloomed since starting.

Paul has a bit of a cancer scare a couple of weekend ago but after having the most awful 48 hours to wait for test results it turned out to be nothing more than a really, really bad infection so now he's seeing an ENT quack !!!

And just to add more fun to the boiling pot our au pair quit and gave us 1 week to find another one so now I've gone even more grey !!!!

Hey ho ! that been my life in a nutshell for the last couple of weeks.

Anyone seen or heard from SallieP lately. She did say that she was planning to join us at WDW next April but I can't seem to get hold of her. I do hope all is well in the Phelan house :grouphug: :grouphug:

My love to all, hopefully I'll check in in the not so distant future

:thumbsup2 :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Anyone else still obsessed with last summer's cruise!! I keep talking about it to anyone's who's been to Italy! Hope all are well!!:goodvibes

Garry just had two doctor appointment's this week and he had on his hat from Monaco both times. Each doctor wanted to know all about the trip and both of them agreeded they needed a vacation just like ours! They only problem is they won't have the friends we did!:goodvibes

Izzy, glad Paul got a good report!

We are getting so excited to go to WDW in December and found out one of the people we met on the boards from our cruise from March 06 is going to be there and we will be getting together for the first time since that cruise! We had a nice group on that cruise, but it was nothing like our Med group. Susan is the only one we have stayed in contact with so we are really happy to be seeing her again.

Did everyone see Disney's announcement this week about the new Disney Resort to be built in Hawaii??

The following is from "PassPorter News"---It does make you think!:confused3

We enjoy looking for the trends behind Disney's press releases, and it doesn't take a psychic to see a particularly interesting trend. Just how much of a coincidence is it that within a few months Disney announces new cruise ships and new resort developments in the Pacific region? Everyone who follows the Disney Cruise Line expects that, after its new ships enter service in 2011 and 2012, one ship (whether one of the two new ships, or the existing Magic or Wonder) will be permanently assigned to Los Angeles. Naturally, the nearby presence of Disneyland Resort supports the cruise line's classic Land/Sea vacation packages. Now, with the addition of Hawaii to the Disney vacation portfolio (in time for the first new ship's arrival), Hawaiian Land/Sea vacations are also in the cards (seven-night one-way cruises plus two-three days in either Honolulu or Disneyland), and even Land/Sea/Land vacations that would include stays at Disneyland and in Hawaii. (While we expect that most West Coast itineraries will visit Mexico, special seasonal itineraries to Hawaii and/or Alaska are certainly in the cards.) Toss in an Adventures by Disney escorted tour, another hop or two across the Pacific to Tokyo Disneyland and/or Hong Kong Disneyland (Asia-based Disney fans may appreciate a cruise that departs Honolulu for Disneyland) ... What's next? In keeping with this Pacific Rim strategy, perhaps a Disney resort in Alaska to support cruise line visits there (following the example of other cruise lines)! For those of us who cover the Disney "beat," life never gets boring.

Izzy,

Glad all is well. Great news about Paul and it's wonderful that Josh loves the school and is doing well. It was worth the fight!!!

Sallie just popped in once or twice, but I guess she has been busy too.

Harole Ann,

Thanks for the update about Hawaii. It really does make you think and it sounds plausible. I can feel the palm trees swaying in the breeze now.....ummmmmm.........

Hi Izzie,

Glad all is well with your husband. It is very scary waiting and not knowing.

I am happy to hear that your son Josh is also adjusting well in his new school. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Just checking in - I have not written because I don't want to whine or bring my misery to anyone. I don't want to be or sound like a downer. Not sure if that made any sense -

First, I want to thank God that my dh is okay and alive. That goes without saying. Again, without sounding like I am not grateful - what keeps me going right now is that I know it could have been so much worse. I do ask myself, "what happened". Things were going good/well. My oldest son got the job he had applied for months before our cruise and at the time we did not know if he would get called before it. He is in training - We did everything we were supposed to do and even w/working and if any extra money was there, I have always lived frugal, beneath our means and on a budget. Luckly because of this, we have some savings. They always say have at least 6 months of savings for emergencies. You hope whatever you save is for the future/retirement/children, etc.

Okay - the test results are not encouraging. He cannot go back to work. There is too much damage in the interior wall/lower bottom of heart/scar tissue, etc. There is a leaky valve (which we don't know if it was there before or the cause from the heart attack). He did have a silent heart attack before also. His heart which should be operating on 60-75% (don't quote me on the #s), is operating on 36%. They are not sure if they will have to put in a defilbrillator down the line.

We have a long bumpy road ahead of us. This is not what we wanted to hear and dh did not want to stay home at 48. We now have no income coming in until SS approves which does not start til 6 months after injury. What is not encouraging is that they deny almost everyone the first time. That is where I worry that this will drag and can take two years even with a lawyer. Once they approve, he can also apply for his disability pension at work. In the meantime, we will consult w/a workers comp lawyer also. I worry about benefits down the line for us, and many other things that I do not want to get into without getting more upset. Things just have to be on hold for us for a while.

Again, please I just wanted to update. I love reading about a dvc resort in Hawaii, the two cruise ships and everyone's good news here. The weather has been hot and humid here also. It's hard to wear summer clothes in October.

Just some prayers and pixie dust that everything goes smooth here and we don't have to fight for everything. Thank you so much for listening/reading.

Anna,

We have been praying for you and Gaspar - hopefully the prayers have helped. We will continue to pray. Do not feel bad in the least for venting. That's what friends are for. Luckily you have some savings, and with God's help, the sun will shine for you. My father died at 50 and my youngest brother at 36, both of massive heart attacks - no warning. Right now the glass is "half full" and I know you are grateful to have Gaspar with you. It is natural to feel "cheated", but God doesn't give us anything we can't handle and He works in mysterious ways.

Prayers and pixiedust: - please keep us posted - you know how we worry when one of our own doesn't post for awhile.........

Maryann

Andrew,

Sounds interesting. Keeps us posted in case we miss it. Love to read about all the rumors/news, etc.

I asked when on TUESDAY, the response was:-

It's usually available sometime early Tuesady morning.

There are too many variables to give a definite answer.

If you watch the DIS Unplugged podcast board, it's usually posted as soon as it's availaable.

Kevin

I guess its the first quarter of 2009, January to April, but might be more?
