Hi Maryann! How hot was it in your classroom the last 2 days???????:scared1: :scared1: I had to sit my kids in the hall where it was cooler to do their seat work!

I was really lucky. The classrooms that I'm in were not too bad. We have ceiling fans which help and in one room we have stand up fans too. I really felt sorry for the male teachers. The students were allowed to take off their jackets in the AM but the male teachers can't! I spoke with my daughter this morning and she said it was so hot during 9th period that the librarian took pity on them and let her hold class in the library! She does have a 3rd floor sun-facing room. She said she felt sick by the end of the day. Hopefully it won't be as bad next week.

When is your last day? Ours is the 20th (although we have half days starting the 12th for exams)

Hello I am back, had a great time in Majorca, Spain.

On the flight over there we started our decent over Barcelona and it was clear skys, and I could see the port, two cruise ships were in and I am sure one was the Disney Magic.

On arrival in Majorca it was a little overcast, and cooler, but after getting my hire car, we drove up to the private villa, in Pollensa.

I booked a peaceful location and we got that, the villa was up a single track road for about five miles and in fact the very last building before the cliff edge. The road by this time was nothing more than a dirt track.

The weather then became windy and cold for two days but then was back upto 27c to 37c on the beach for the rest of the week.

We toured North West Majorca by car and also went on there local modern trains and then a 1912 train service through the mountains long tunnels etc to Stoller. Great fun and as the weather wasn’t good, a good use of time.

Pollensa also has famous steps some 365 up to a chapel, nice walk!

Later in the week we had quite a lot of beach days as it became very hot, and then went back to the villa to have a swim in our pool.

Food we had breakfast in the villa but for lunch and dinner we went to restaurants.

I presume the cost will be similar to Barcelona a meal would be from euros 9 to a set meal of euros 14 a full meal with soft drinks for a family of four was about 60-70 euros.

Try to get some pictures soon.

and they don't let you go home early! i remember when i was in school and when it got too hot we were sent home after lunch.

No, I have been teaching for 25 years and we have never closed school due to the heat. Sometimes I think, it is more dangerous keeping the school open during very high temps than snow days. Although, it has to really bad for my district to close even when it snows!
It was really horrible though the past two days- the kids really cant concentrate, and I just feel lightheaded and sick! Thank goodness its Saturday, because I think today is worse than the past two with the high humidity. I also want to hug the person that invented central air conditioning !!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :upsidedow :upsidedow
