My daughter has just done a post on the tween/teen thread, I'll get her to read through all the posts to find it and maybe we can make her one, she would love to start collecting things to give away in it

jo are you still there?

I'm really worried about my fight to barcelona, at least yours is due in a bit earlier:scared:

I'm feeling quite worried now, we only booked the cruise last week and with all the excitement rushed in and booked our flights without really thinking it through. Our flight gets in at 1600 on the 28th so if there are any delays we could be stranded

More worried about arriving at Barcelona airport, will be worried about missing the ship , not so bothered about arriving home late I would only be missing a day of work and I can cope with that.

I didnt mean to worry anyone, but I think the heads up is well needed- get to airport very early no matter where you ae leaving from- there have been news reports each day about the air traffic problems and delays...Friends of ours went to Florence a few weeks back for their anniversary. They were to leave out of Kennedy, had their tickets for months. They arrived at the airport 2 hours early. When they got to the check in area, they were told the flight was over booked- for about about 8 other people!!! Tom( the husband) said there was a lot of screaming, yelling, pointing fingers etc, but no one wanted to give up their seats even with great incentives. So, they were given a hotel, and voucers for 2 free plane tickets, and a first class ride over the next day. But, Patti said, she missed what amounted to 2 full days ( with the time change) of her vacation.. Ive been worried since, and we are arriving 3 days before !!!!

please don't feel it was you who worried us we were already a bit worried, our own fualt for rishig in to book the flights without thinking

Hey Sallie - I always say its better to be informed than not. On our departure - the 8th - my TA booked us out of BCN to Orly airport, France at 2:30 - I was worried about this since I hear we get off the ship by 9 but now I'm starting to wonder if it wasn't a blessing in disguise!

That should be plenty of time! When we booked the air, the only flight to NY was at 10:30 am I think, so the TA told us not to chance it and to stay an extra night- so we are leaving the next day on the 10:30 am flight- I figured the extra 300.00 for the extra night at hotel waw worth my nervous stomach not kicking up- What time will they throw us off the boat????

Maria , Cann't believe you got a pirate already, I missed it because we had a visit from our nephew just back from Austailia. Would you lose your money if you changed your flights, why not check .

Where is everybody ? it's so quiet on the board today, I know it's bank holiday in England, but it's so cold here in the north so we've decided to stay at home today, have more time to chat than usual , may even try to get my first pirate.
I was sleeping!:goodvibes

Thank you , I know this may of already been covered in previous posts but how are people getting from Barcelona airport to the ship , do Disney have any transfers that you know of ?
I've recently added Disney transfers to my ressie.

Thanks for sharing this....personally, the main reason that I started to post on this thread was to learn what to right and what not to do when we travel! This tip is really important, we'll probably leave an hour earlier than we planned on our departure day. Thanks, Sallie!:yay:

Well, being as OCD as I am - I had the TA call at least 6 times. All times before the last 2 DCL said they should be off by 10 - the last 2 times its been 9:30 and last time it was 9 but definitely 9:30 so by the time we get there - it will be down pat. I hear the airport is only about 20-30 minutes out not that far but haven't experienced their roads out there. LOL - on my Barcelona map it only looks like about 1 1/2 inches away! But I am anxiously glued to the Q&A ? board from the 1st Magical Sailing. Just subscribed.

jo do you think we can see if we can change our flights

Doesn't hurt to try!

Yeah!!! You got a pirate!!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

what does that mean, oh I'm so new to this

Only joined today and she's got a pirate: already! :rotfl2:

Crawford - sorry remind me of your name again? My apologies. pirate: is a way of passing time and getting people involved. It originated from one of our other threads. Andrew (who's on 'holiday' right now) introduced it. For every post that ends in ##00 you get a pirate: . If you so happen to land a #500 or even luckier to land a thousand #000 post you are considered a MAJOR pirate. Check the front page for posts. Its really nothing but an honorary title. But it helps get the board moving and gets us to chit chat and know each other. However, be warned, there are some out there that will attempt just about anything to get one. That's all I'm going to say on that matter! :rotfl: (When we meet - I can let you in on some of those stories) The best ones are those that land it with a legit ? such as yours.

I think Andrew has gone as far as to name the Major Titles - who's Capt Hook? Will Turner? Elizabeth? Anyway, if you get a chance just look at page one. Andrew has placed a lot of info that you might find helpful.

OH YEAH - question for anyone. Does anyone know how to post a link to a slideshow which I did not originate? One DISser posted a slideshow with several pictures of 'fish extenders' (which really are just a mail organizing pouch which you can get at dollar tree stores or Wal-mart, K-mart type of store.) Anyway, I have his permission to post it here but can't seem to get it to work properly - what am I doing wrong? Help!

As someone said - its for leaving things at peoples fish hanger and is a way of letting others know that you are a DISser. That is not to say that others aren't as this has been picked up by others but it sure is fun coming 'home' and finding a small present waiting for you. Since we have a weight restriction coming over - I just figured I'd get something from a port and deliver it to the fish extender. The habit originated by a DIS cruiser some years back - I'm sorry for not remembering her name but that lady was a sweetheart for coming up with such a wonderful idea.

Also, another idea - most DISsers put some kind of decorations on their doors - how about a door decorating contest? Judging to be held someway at the end of the cruise? That way those of us that are held to weight restrictions have a few days to gather door decorations? The slideshow I want to post also has pictures of some door decorations. BTW, the people with the advantage here are those that scrapbook. ;)

Lisa - do you by any chance have some other pictures of any door decorations? In all my infinite wisdom - I keep forgetting to take some pictures. Oh well, color me brainless.

what does that mean, oh I'm so new to this
It means that the number of your post is ##00 (a number that ends in 00) and on this wacky thread, you get a pirate.....if you scroll back through the last few pages, Andrew has listed how many of us have obtained pirates since this thread started.....WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW FOLKS....we will have a blast, I'm sure!!

Disneyspirit/Tom - remembered you said that you've been to many of the DL parks - we just discussed ways of beating jetlag. Do you have any recommendations? Several have been discussed here as some of us are coming from the West Coast. Those have ranged from avoiding alchohol, bringing eye patches, reducing sound earphones to taking melatonin I think.

As a veteran flyer - do you have any more suggestions

Some of the Jetlag seems to be related to which way you are traveling and the time changes related to that. When we flew from Phoenix to Paris we we totally exhausted the day of arrival around 10AM Paris time. However, when we flew to Tokyo from Phoenix, we arrived around 3pm and felt fine.

I would say whatever allows you to sleep on the plane, use it. (ie:eye covers & sound canceling headphones) Drink lots of water and sleep as much as you can. When you arrive, force yourself to either stay awake or sleep again depending on the local time. Eat meals realative to local time as well on arrival. That should assist you body clock in adjusting as fast as it can.

Just a quicky before I run off to my trainer (don't think I'm a good girl - I had pizza and beer last night!!)

Way to go Mary Jo on the multi posting!!

Hello to the new friends - the Brits definitely are gaining on us!!

I'm dying to know what happened on the way to Solvang (sp?)

We chose the flights that we did because of the connection times. A month after we made our reservations, they made some changes to our flights - which gave us shorter connections! I was quite PO'd to say the least. It's on the way home, not out and we have a few days before the cruise if there are any issues on the way there, but still - makes me a bit worried!!

Happy Memorial Day to All (flag waving smiley :) )

Good morning to everyone else!!

this is the first time ever I have joined a forum on anything, we have just booked to go on this cruise and we are all very excited. We went on the disney magic eastern carribean in 2005 it was fantastic and can't wait to do this one.
My name is Maria and my husband is Richard, we live in the uk and we have 3 daughters, harriet 11yrs, Phoebe 9yrs and Hermione 4yrs. I am with the JOHARDY party, It would be great if we could find some friends for them to chat to before we go. That way we may actually get them to go to the kids club.

looking forward to hearing from anyone,

Welcome Maria & family,

You have joined the right cruise!!!!! We are a friendly, nutty, bunch. All the info you need is on the first page. But make sure you check daily (I mean hourly) as this is a very active thread (just ask Jo)
