Hi all,

Not stopping long

I've got work to do !!!!!

( Yes Joann you heard me right)

Got to go over tomorrows lesson plans, will be back once I've worked out whay I'm teaching 30 Yr2's!

SORRY everybody - next time I promise not too quote so much - this is hard.

I thought I read somewhere that there was a 'most quote queen' or something like that. So don't sweat it.

Andrew - I know the water is fine in europe, and yeah it will be on sale. But I drink a LOT of water, and was mostly thinking of our pre-night in Barcelona. I don't want to spend $5 for a bottle of water, when I can buy 32 for that price here at home. But weight will be my ultimate issue.

As for weighing your luggage...We have a scale at home that is digital and activated by standing on it. What I do is place a board across the scale, weigh it. Then I put the luggage on the board. Then I subtract the weight of the board. The board allows you to easily set the bag on it, and disperses the weight so you get a more accurate weight. If I just set the bag on it, it errors out on me.

The other option, if you know a local UPS store, or any shipping location. Try to see if they will let you use their scale. Depends on the business owner.

Kyla - Just sent you my payment. It read that my account was 'personal' so i think I am good.

Laura,
I have one pirate and it was pure accidental. Thats it.pirate: My timing is not right to get another.

Laura,
on my ticket info for BA, it says right on there that I get two pieces of checked luggage <51 lbs. My sisters kept telling me that I only get one. So I called and they said yes, I get two pieces of luggage because I'm coming from the americas.

Gosh I hope so - haven't gotten our tickets yet from the TA - I truly think this will be the last time I use her - she really let me down this time. I have had to do most of the ?ing this time and she either didn't get back to me or just had her "assistant" not get back to me. Sad - we've had her for such a long time but things happen.

Anyway, maybe I'll drop her a line and have her double check. Did you book your tickets yourself? She went through a consolidator. Hence - the no tickets yet.

Found this in the FAQ about posting attachments. It sounds like it covers pictures. I know that on the bottom left corner for me, it says "you may NOT post attachments". Not sure if that is just how it is for everyone.

What Are Attachments?

The administrator may allow you to use the attachment feature of this forum, which gives you the ability to attach files of certain types to your posts. This could be an image, a text document, a zip file etc. There will be a limit to the file size of any attachments you make.

To attach a file to a new post, simply click the [Manage Attachments] button at the bottom of the post composition page, and locate the file that you want to attach from your local hard drive.

After posting, the image attachments may display a thumbnail, depending on the forum settings. To view the contents of the attachment (if it is not already displayed) simply click the filename link that appears next to the attachment icon.

Part of the reason I went to FL on Mother's Day weekend was to speak with some friends from the UK. They are fantastic people and I picked their brains on how to pack.

First off: once they get off the plane and checked into their room they find a drugstore and pick up some necessities s/a shampoo and such. (Lordy  - I forgot about those)

Second - this time they flew Virgin and Virgin allows them 2 suitcases - and so they bring duffel type of bags. I went with them while they went shopping. Turns out the $ is about 2 to their 1 or just over. Is that about right Andrew? Helen? We've dropped down again! :sad2: Thus making our TOAL even more expensive.

Liz, travels with only 5 pairs of shoes, 1 fancy pair (not so fancy more comfortable that would look good for formal nights) and 1 sandal and 1 tennis shoes, 1 pr crocs and 1 water shoe. Her husband travels with less! :scared1: :scared1: Although I have now told DH that he and DS will get their tuxes and shoes from onboard - figured I might be able to take some of the space from his boats on there. He and DS have size 12 shoes and they take up a lots of space - DS won't give but DH will have too if you know what I mean

She recommended, 1 pr of fancy black pants to dress up or down, lots of tops to interchange and she brings skirts - no shorts except for 1 long burmuda type of shorts. Guess I won't be bringing the boody hugging shorts. :lmao:

She says that one can always buy something over there. She did recommend a scarf or something lightweight to put on just in case. Apparently they REALLY are strict about having your knees and shoulders covered. Not that I wouldn't - I've already bought a small lightweight cardigan for my shoulders and looking for longish, peasant type of skirts to use instead of shorts. In fact - only planning on bring 1 pair for the ship and after.

I'm down to 6 prs of shoes. I'm also trying to implant into the girls that since they are almost the same weight - they should coordinate together and if they 'share' they would have a different outfit each and every single night.

Nothing doing - you would have thought I suggested they give their clothes away - I got this look  Yup that about sums it up.

So here's my shoe list: 1 fancy/comfortable heel Probably black but not sure yet. 2 tennis shoe/sandal type for hot air from Esprit blue and beige. 1 white Mary Jane and 1 black pair of 'croc-'like Mary Jane. So God-willing - this will be my shoes.

On my weekend trip - I overpacked and I only took 1 pr of pants (which I never used) and 2 capris. 3 tops and then I went shopping so that made what I brought obsolete. Go fugure.

OK anyone else with thoughts of shoes?

I have seen some photos of rooms broken into on expedia and travelocity when I was doing research. Travelers came back to a room and in 1 case - the whole room safe was taken - yanked right off the wall! :scared1: This scared me - what if they take my laptop - that's our life and company. Seriously considering not taking it but we'll be gone for 20 days and that's too long to be gone w/o one. So the hotel we got has a room safe and a safety deposit box in the hotel lobby. Figured between the 2 it may be safe.

Just totally backup your computer before you leave on an external hard drive. You can carry the external drive with you, but it keep in a different place than the computer (and maybe one at home as well).

If you are working on the trip, you can update the hard drive everyday....that way iof anything at all happens, you will have everything!!

Cool - I'll suggest it to DH - we've been worried about his. My laptop is the newest one and has a double drive so we were seriously pondering what to take in case of robbery.

Hows your daughter doing today? Your story got to my heart. Kids are so resilent today - I would have been so mortified and made like an ostrich and not come out for months. I love girls with spunk. Wish mine had the spunk to put off incidents like this. Hope she's doing better today. ell her congrats BTW - quick-thinking, smart and spunky - sounds like she has all the things going for her! :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the tips. I don't have an issue with shoes. I can only wear two pair, one sneakers, and one flats. I have to wear orthotics, and they just don't go into everything. I can't wear a heel at all.

I wear capris mostly, and being so short, they always go below the knee. Warm when you need it, but cool when it's hot out. So a few pairs of those, and I can mix and match those with every shirt I own if needed.

Yes I think at the moment its somthing like $1.98 to £1

Great for us though.

Still here - Decided to work from home today - I did after all work for 12 hours yesterday and get up at 5 am and start working right out of bed.

But boy am I tired.

Carrie I know what you mean ... Im sooo tired after today

I think I'll be in bed for 10pm (You'll be pleased to know Joann :lmao: )

OH My. :scared1: I assume this has only happened at the hotels. I heard DCL has you put your luggage outside your door the night before you depart. Is there any risk in doing this? I assume that if there was, they would modify their procedures.

Yes - I was impressed and happy - they bought an ipod dirt cheap. Good for them. At least someone gets one over on apple. Apparently is the same price over at your end of the pond as ours - but cheaper to buy here. :rotfl:

Yes, I got it.
I will have to try the board thing. If worse comes to worse, I will ask my vet to let me use his scale.

Do you mean when your on the ship or stopping at one of the disney hotels.

It is normal practise for you to leave your luggage outside your cabin on the (ship)- You have to do this by 11 pm and they take it to the terminal - Not sure how this will work in BArcelona?
