Just rerturned from latest Eastern Carribean cruise. Had a great time with only a few difficulties. Despite high winds during the trip to St. Martin, no probems except losing my hat a few times. Saw Pirates of the Carribean, Finding Nemo. The kids saw Spy Kids 3D which they said was okay. The word from adults who saw the movie was "awful." Rented a mini-van to drive about St. Martin. The van had some trouble handling the hills and a jeep might have been better. The weather was warm and we wanted air conditioning. The views from around the island were magnificent. Beware of what you eat on the island as my son became ill on return. Possibly from the lunch we ate.
We had scheduled the submarine tour the following day and my wife and son were given a refund because of his illness (disentery) You had to see the ship's doctor to get a refund and there was no charge for the doctor's visit. As my younger son could not go out, Disney provided a free VCR and a list of movies to view. The regular ship's food was provided via room service. Disney also provided video games and a deck of cards.
My older son and I went on the Atlantis sub. It was interesting but I thought the water was a bit cloudy. We saw sharks, a ship wreck and a fair number of fish. As the ship left St, Thomas at 4:30 we only had a few hours to check the shops of St. Thomas. There are more taxis on the road than other vehicles. I was asked many times whether I was ready to go back to the ship. The taxis are open air and air-conditioned. The price, $3 per person, is the same for either. Wish I had bought the alcohol in St. Martin as the prices were cheaper there.
On to Castaway Cay. My older son and I did the new Seahorse Snokel excursion. The water was amazingly clear. Saw many fish and a few barracuda. Hope the pictures come out. Had a rum punch. on the return. Also beware of jellyfish on the island. Saw a young boy that had been stung a few times on his arms.
With the exception of Morty the Magician, an okay show, the shows were wonderful. Enjoyed Hecules, Disney Dreams and the Farewell Show. The other acts at Rocking Bar D were good.
Arrived back at Port Cannaveral. Unfortunately our room was right next to where supplies are loaded on the ship. We were awakened by the sounds of whirring and banging of the ship being loaded for the next cruise. We were warned about the area where our room as being noisy. This was the only time that it was oppressive. Otherwise a great cruise and would sail again.
Also kudos to our room hostess, our server and assistant server. They were very attentive each night and did a great job. A Almost forgot the bingo on the ship. The final tally for bingo was over $11,000. Never thought I would enjoy bingo but it was fun.

Just curious how old your DS's are. Did they enjoy the cruise besides your one son getting sick? Doing the Eastern this December with kids 12 and 15. Did you see many kids on the ship in this age range? BTW, what did your son eat? Do you remember the restaurant you ate at? Thanks for any help you can provide!

My DS is 17 and did not want to go to the Disney Dreams or Hercules. There were other things to do, the gameroom, shuffleboard and movies to keep him entertained. My older DS works for Disney. Neither was bored I believe. There appeared to be many teens on the cruise. The name of the restaurant was Captain Oliver's in Oyster Bay I believe.

Thanks for the info. Good to know a lot of teens go on this cruise and enjoy it. I am a bit concerned that my DD and DS will complain that it is too young for them. But I see your DS's are older and they enjoyed it, so I guess I don't have to worry. They keep telling me that want to do RCCL. But I have never been on a Disney Cruise and would like to try it a least once.

thanks for the report. We were also on the same cruise & I agree with you on Morty the Magician (not the best show), Spykids 3 (yuck! but my 9 yr. old DS loved it), wish I had known prices would be higher in St. Thomas (I'd have bought more on St. Maarten) and our stateroom host was great along with our rookie assistant server. Head server for us was o.k. at best, very obviously geared towards earning his tip with little to no sincerity about us and our enjoyment. Went to bingo once, but not enough "bingo love" evidently--no winnings here. Sad that the trip is now just memories & photos!!
