Just rerturned from latest Eastern Carribean cruise. Had a great time with only a few difficulties. Despite high winds during the trip to St. Martin, no probems except losing my hat a few times. Saw Pirates of the Carribean, Finding Nemo. The kids saw Spy Kids 3D which they said was okay. The word from adults who saw the movie was "awful." Rented a mini-van to drive about St. Martin. The van had some trouble handling the hills and a jeep might have been better. The weather was warm and we wanted air conditioning. The views from around the island were magnificent. Beware of what you eat on the island as my son became ill on return. Possibly from the lunch we ate.
We had scheduled the submarine tour the following day and my wife and son were given a refund because of his illness (disentery) You had to see the ship's doctor to get a refund and there was no charge for the doctor's visit. As my younger son could not go out, Disney provided a free VCR and a list of movies to view. The regular ship's food was provided via room service. Disney also provided video games and a deck of cards.
My older son and I went on the Atlantis sub. It was interesting but I thought the water was a bit cloudy. We saw sharks, a ship wreck and a fair number of fish. As the ship left St, Thomas at 4:30 we only had a few hours to check the shops of St. Thomas. There are more taxis on the road than other vehicles. I was asked many times whether I was ready to go back to the ship. The taxis are open air and air-conditioned. The price, $3 per person, is the same for either. Wish I had bought the alcohol in St. Martin as the prices were cheaper there.
On to Castaway Cay. My older son and I did the new Seahorse Snokel excursion. The water was amazingly clear. Saw many fish and a few barracuda. Hope the pictures come out. Had a rum punch. on the return. Also beware of jellyfish on the island. Saw a young boy that had been stung a few times on his arms.
With the exception of Morty the Magician, an okay show, the shows were wonderful. Enjoyed Hecules, Disney Dreams and the Farewell Show. The other acts at Rocking Bar D were good.
Arrived back at Port Cannaveral. Unfortunately our room was right next to where supplies are loaded on the ship. We were awakened by the sounds of whirring and banging of the ship being loaded for the next cruise. We were warned about the area where our room as being noisy. This was the only time that it was oppressive. Otherwise a great cruise and would sail again.
Also kudos to our room hostess, our server and assistant server. They were very attentive each night and did a great job. A Almost forgot the bingo on the ship. The final tally for bingo was over $11,000. Never thought I would enjoy bingo but it was fun.
