July 26, 2009 4-night Wonder to Bahamas

Hi Everyone!!

We're booked on this cruise too!! It will be DH, DD (13), her friend (13), and myself. Neither of the kids know that we're going yet hehehe!!!
I'm trying to read all the info on "FE", so until I get through it I won't know if we can do it or not. I'm also busy trying to make our door magnets :) This is SO much fun!!

Hey MommyBean! :welcome: to DIS! I assume you are the same mommybean as on the CruiseCritic message boards?

I’ve been meaning to reply to your CC post … my daughter is very shy, and I think that if it was just your daughter that she might be open to meeting up, but in this situation, I think she’d feel like a third wheel. Thank you for suggesting it... I thought it was a great idea, but I know my daughter… very quiet and very shy. I’m trying hard to convince her to go to the teen hangout (she is apprehensive). So I told her that I need her to do some research for me since I’m not allowed up there (tell me what it’s like, what kind of amenities are there, take some photos, etc). Hopefully she’ll like what she sees and want to go back, but I’m worried she’s going to feel like she doesn’t belong and leave pretty quickly.

I can tell you are very excited... as am I! I can't wait. :yay: We leave for Orlando in 1 week, 3 hours. :woohoo:

Anyone packed yet?

Carol

My 16 yr old is super shy. She is scared about trying out the teen club too. I told her she needs to so I can get some alone time. My 8 yr will be friends with the entire boat if she gets the opportunity.

I am loving the door magnets. We are on deck one so maybe everyone will see them when they get off in Nassau. They are so much fun. My 8 yr is celebrating her birthday on board so I have several birthday disigns.

1 more week til we leave on the journey!

Hi Carol!!! Yup...it's me!! lol

Maybe if we (the parents) meet up and make the kids go with us, then they may strike up a conversation...maybe worth a try! I'd hate for your DD to feel left out or not have fun :sad1:
Do we have a meet & greet time and place set up yet?

I am STILL trying to finish my magnets - UGH!! It's so hard trying to do all that stuff while DD is out of the house so I don't ruin the surprise!! heeheehee

I can't stand it!!! :hyper: Sunday seems so far away!!! Keeping busy by getting our door decorations ready a little at a time.

I am so ready to step onto the Wonder!! Who's with me??? :yay:

Hello all - I just booked this cruise a couple of weeks ago. It will be myself (mom), my DD (13) and my DS (10). We have only been on the Disney Cruise once before, a week on the Magic nearly 3 years ago.

We are thinking about staying near Port Canaveral the night before the cruise and will definitely stop by Disney World the day we leave since it is on our way home (we live in Florida).

My DD is also apprehensive about the teen club, so it would be nice to introduce her to your daughter, CarolC.

See you all very soon!

Are any of you familiar with the Captain's Dinner? I had a friend that was on the 3 night cruise back in March. She said that people really dressed up for the Captain's dinner. She said if I wore my prom dress I'd fit in just fine! It's not clear to me that they even do this for every cruise. Is this the last night of our cruise? Is it a late night meal?

- I'm up for trying to get the girls together, but I don't have any good ideas. What are the girls' interests? Mine likes reading (fantasy genre, like Twilight), soccer, and marching band. She's also been into Japanese entertainment lately too (all on the internet - listening to music, reading comics, watching dramas). She's

It would be neat if we could set them up with some kind of "assignment" or hunt in the hangout (that they could do together). Like make a list of all the games, or give 5 examples of activities they can do

I see you are all new to DIS. Can any of you PM yet? maybe we should take this offline

Sounds good...I can't come up with any ideas though
I can't PM yet either :sad1:

DD is a competitive swimmer, likes watersports, cheerleading, softball, reading (Twilight, etc), photography...hmmm...I think that's it - lol. She starts off a little shy, but then comes out of her shell.

Her friend is also a swimmer and loves watersports, runs track (other than that, I'm not really sure...).

We're staying at the Radisson at the Port Saturday night (free parking and shuttle)

I need to go back and read past posts - lol - I can't remember if we have a meet & greet time and place set. Not long now!!!! :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

My dd is really into reading. She loves everything Twilight and Nora Roberts. I am afraid if I don't check her luggage, she will pack all books and no clothes!!! We are driving down on Saturday and plan to stay somewhere between Lake City and the port depending on how tired we get. Its a 12-14 hour drive. If we have a meet and greet, let me know. Friday will be my last chance to check the boards. Do you all put lime green mickey heads on your lanyards or bags so we will know if we meet up with you?

I didn't find anything about a meet & greet. It's been 6 years since we've been on the Wonder, so I don't even know where or when to suggest...does anyone else have any ideas?

I guess we can maybe print off little green mickey head stickers and wear them?

I still have some lime green (alien green) paint chips from Home Depot left from our Disney World vacation last year. I was thinking of laminating one and hanging it with my room key on my lanyard. I think my park bag still has one it on.

What about the Promenade Lounge which is just past Triton's dining room on deck 3. When I did a meet on the Magic, we met there (at the chairs near the windows). Prob be best to meet first day since Monday we'll be in port.

Are we going to set a time? This is my first cruise so I will have to figure out where everything is. Btw do they give you deck plans on the ship or should I print them out and bring with me?

It always seems hard to schedule a good time. I thought it might help to refer to the 'Personal Navigator' I saved from the Magic (disclaimer - the times may be different on this sailing) :)

Since some of us :rolleyes1 surely want to get some food before they put it away, here is the schedule:

*Goofy's Galley 12-3:15
Parrot Cay boarding - 2:15
*Pinocchio's Pizzeria 12- 3:30
*Pluto's Dog House 12-3:30
Topsider Buffet 12-3:30

*these three open again after the drill

All aboard: 4pm
Port departure: 5pm

Boat drill: 4pm

"Adventures Away" sail away party (Goofy's pool area) 4:30

Open house for all kids/teen areas: 1:45 - 3:15 and 5:00-7:00

Based on this, when is a good time for a meet? between 3 and 3:15 (and make sure you eat first)? ;)

Yes food will be first on our agenda. Depending how far we drive on Saturday will determine what time we get on the ship. We hope to make it to at least Lake City but I am hoping for Orlando. I want to be at the port by Noon. We can eat lunch then do the children's open house and meet about 3-3:15. Sounds like a plan.

We'll plan on being at the Promenade Lounge around 3 pm on Sunday. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and getting the girls together.

I'm cruising on this July 26th too!!!!

Is everyone packing stuff for pirate night party ??pirate:

I need to get busy packing by tomorrow since we are driving to Florida on Sat, all the way from MD.
