JULY 2024 WISH Thread - Sunny Summertime ☀️

This is definitely not the character I most identify with in the movie, but it did give me a good laugh because the description it's exactly the opposite of how I felt doing the quiz - I couldn't decide between at least two pictures on almost every question. :rotfl:

This is pretty accurate. Like Joy, the character in the movie, I have to contend with difficult and frustrating people like Sadness who try to ruin everything. I have to be stubborn and strong with my sunny attitude and lift up everyone around me. It gets exhausting sometimes. I must admit my other favorite character is secretly Disgust. We show the movie every year as a part of our Social Emotional curriculum, and I always wear my t-shirt with Disgust’s face on it, and it reads, “You’re welcome.”IMG_3868.jpeg

I also got Joy - she's who I try to be like, but I'm not sure I always hit the mark. Sometimes life's business gets in the way. I also feel like it's too awkward of a person with helping people in difficult times. I try, but it's not one of my gifts. A friend at work and I talked about that this week. She feels the same way I do, so we're both going to try to start reaching out of our comfort zone to do better!

Hello Everyone!! Happy Weekend!!!! I got

Which is not me but it is a few members of my family so maybe I was having sympathy fear for them during the quiz 🤣

It has been a busy, hectic and nerve wracking week at work. It’s our most busy week of the quarter and it was literally one issue after another. I went to bed at 8pm evernight, most nights I had a migraine and had to take my meds and just go to bed.

Luckily it’s the weekend and yesterday was a low key rainy day of laundry and babysitting. Today is sunny again and unbelievably hot and humid. I went with DS and his family to a blueberry festival this morning-before the heat warning started at noon. We had a good time and got some unique homemade crafts and goodies.

DH and I were supposed to go watch his friend play in his band this afternoon (outside) but we got there-parked-looked at one another…neither of us got out 🤭 he said-you don’t want to go out-I said-YOU don’t want to go out-he said-We are both right let’s go get some food in the AC 😂 so we left and had dinner down the street and it was delicious and cool!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend and staying cool!!

I got Sadness? Hmmm….

Today has been a lovely day. Did some yard stuff early, went to lunch then drove to the town where the spa is for my facial. This gal was more talkative and gave me positive feedback on how I’m taking care of my skin. Woohoo. Right now I’m at the movie theater, in the fancy room on my favorite sofa, waiting to see Fly me to the Moon. Really looking forward to the crochet class tomorrow. Group crafting and learning new things is always so fulfilling.

PollyannaMom...I do so love my coffee too.

We went to church this morning. My childhood church which I attended until I was 22, is closing down and merging with my current church. I joined my current church after we were married 31 years ago. We attended there for many years, but eventually transferred to a church in our neighborhood so that DD would be attending Sunday School with some of her school friends. Being back in our old church really feels like home, and now that my childhood church is merging with us, there's no doubt that I will see some people I haven't seen in a very long time. Summer attendance is always lower, so I didn't see anyone that looked familiar today, but hopefully in the fall I will. It's sad to see that church cease to be a church. My Grandma was their organist and choir director when I was a child. I used to help her in so many ways every Sunday morning, and of course, I sang in the children's choir and eventually the youth choir. No news on the position of Children's Ministry Director, but the Pastor isn't addressing it right now...clearly he has his hands full. I just hope that if he does decide to hire me, he will do it early enough for me to prepare for Rally Day and the reopening of Sunday School. There will be so much to do while at the same time, I will be starting a new school year. Ugh.

We are beginning to prepare for vacation, and since it's a sunny day, we will be outside enjoying the pool.

It’s so sad to see something you have such a deep attachment to no longer be a part of your life 😕 but I know you will see old friends and that will be great. I love that they are merging, I have never heard of that. It’s a great idea!

This morning started with church. We had our district superintendent host a meeting after services to discuss issues with our global church that are taking place right now. It all saddens me to be honest. I don't know what's going to happen with our local church, but I know feelings are going to be hurt on both sides and I fear that things will never be the same as they once were. Time will tell and I know there are a lot of people praying about it, so I'm sure it will turn out as it should.

After church, we went out to eat to celebrate DS's birthday with my mom. We went to a nice place about 15 minutes from our town. We'd been there once before, but we discovered it's a really good place to eat on a Sunday noon. They have a lot of room and good service, so we didn't end up having to wait even though we got there right at noon.

We've been doing some things around the house and just sat down to watch a movie before bed. Overall, it's been a good, relaxing day.

Pretty chill day. I had the crochet class earlier in the day. She covered three basic stitches and now I'm practicing each one to master them. I'm really interested in learning how to do granny squares, which will be a class in October - after I get back from the UK. Other than that, I made a run to a neighboring town for some quick shopping and finished mowing the lawn... how can it possibly already be 9p?

What is your healthy living motivation, going into this mid-summer week?

I'm motivated to hydrate better!! It's been so hot and humid that my normal "acceptable" standards are just not good enough, and I think I've been feeling kind of off because of it.

I'm also trying to muster up some decluttering motivation. I definitely have way too much stuff, but I also frequently have "just the right thing". - So I'm trying to convince myself that in the long run, calm uncluttered spaces will benefit me more than being able to pull things off quickly.

I have a big chance to get rid of stuff coming up at the beginning of August, and I want to take advantage of that.

This week I will continue to make healthy food choices and walk on the treadmill in the A/C.

I can’t go in the pool until the heatwave breaks. Temperatures are going to be in the mid 90’s with 93% humidity.

Fortunately, next week the highs will be in the 70’s where we are staying on the bay. I guess I will need to pack some jeans and sweatshirts. There’s no A/C, so it’ll be better than the last two years for sleeping. 2022 was rough with no sea breeze and hazy hot and humid weather.

I am getting ready for our trip with an oil change and whatever else is needed. I requested a car wash, but he couldn’t promise me anything…usually just the Lincolns get a wash. :rolleyes2 Well excuse me. I am going to do some errands and then fill up the gas tank. I probably won’t be driving anywhere else until we leave.

De-cluttering is such a big chore but also so rewarding! Good luck getting going on it.

Hope you have fun with your pre-trip tasks... they are kind of like the pre-show at Disney.

My big motivation this week... the realization that I'm 40 days away from my class reunion and the dress I plan on wearing doesn't fit.

Plus, somehow, I am now just 60 days away from my UK trip and I am not in the fit shape I want to be. So today I start lay out an actual training program, not just "eat better and move more" but daily steps, activities, calories etc. It always takes the panic of a deadline to get me going and that panic hit over the weekend.
