JULY 2024 WISH Thread - Sunny Summertime ☀️

Probably a fire fly, if I go out at all.

I am so happy my town doesn’t do a fireworks show and doesn’t allow them, as it was another calm peaceful holiday. We’ve gone from autumn to high summer so the past few days have been warm and slow. Right now I’m sitting at the dock waiting to board the whale boat soaking up the morning sun… thru my sunscreen of course.

So thankful for the four day weekend but also can’t believe tomorrow is the last day already!

Boy this was a tough one! I honestly could not pick between these 2!! Both sounded like me in certain ways! I’m not a huge fan of big social events, but I am comfortable, for the most part, with church group settings because almost always I know someone and often times my daughter in law comes with me to women’s events. I need to start getting comfortable going to events the SPCA holds. DH always suggests that we go and I say ok but then I don’t follow-up and remind him so we don’t go…anyways I will work on that for the rest of 2024!!!

Happy Saturday everyone! I have to agree with @Oneanne this 4 day weekend is flying by!!!!!!

Firefly for sure
The week was ok. My work bestie has left the company so that will be tough as now I am the only SME on my application and we have a major upgrade coming up. Very glad I joined the gym because the stress eating is coming! Did Zumba tone for the first time this week (Zumba with hand weights) and was pleasantly surprised by it.
DS9 and DD start extended school year next week which should be good, keep them busy for a few hours a day. DS’ teacher is doing themed weeks where most subjects touch on the theme…donuts, ice cream and the Olympics. That sounds super fun to me, couple of DS favorite things.

Today was going to be chore day but I’ve had such low energy I’ve barely done anything. I’m contemplating taking a Covid test because I’m just that draggy.

Yesterday on the whale boat, as she was pulling away from the dock the captain told us a group of orca had been in the area but no reports for about an hour so she wasn’t sure where they were currently located. As we pulled around the breakwater, there they were! Two family groups totally 10 whales playing with kelp and crab pots right off shore in front of downtown! They were so active… fin and tail slaps, barrel rolls, full breaches, moon walks (swimming backwards), swimming up side down. At one point the young male threw himself up and out of the water five or six times in succession. We stayed with them for about an hour, it was truly amazing. What a gift.

Sounds like a dream come true!!!

I hope you feel better.

Wow! I love that quote!

I'm emerging from the brain fog that I was under during the initial period of grief. I'm managing my day to day better...no doubt being out of school has helped me work through it more quickly. I did some real damage with my unconscious eating, but as I awaken and see it more clearly, I am able to stop myself now. I am leaving for vacation in 12 days, so I would like to drop some weight beforehand so that I can enjoy my vacation and not worry about every bite of food I put in my mouth. Getting back on the treadmill today, and then I will walk in the pool afterward. More exercise, healthy eating and fruit/vegetable smoothies is the plan for the next 12 days.

I woke up this morning thinking "yep, I'm definitely sick". The covid test came up negative, so it is something else. We're having warm sunny weather for at least the next week and a half, so hopefully I'll get back on my feet soon so I can get out and make the best of it. So, I'm not overly motivated this week, just hanging in there.

One thing that is making me very happy this morning is that my sweet peas are blooming like crazy right now, they are the first things grown from seed to start producing. I've also got a flower forming on one zinnia and a couple dahlias with some flower buds starting to take shape. So, the garden is already better than last year.

Just got back from our vacation, so I read through everything to catch up a bit! I'll just jump back in today -

My motivation this week is to get back on track. Surprisingly when I weighed this morning, I had only gained 2.5 pounds during our 10 day vacation which included a cruise with unlimited food constantly lol! I did try to make decent choices, but didn't really limit myself too much, so I was very pleased with the small gain. We had a great time and DH and I were so glad that DS joined us. He says he'll never turn down a trip, but I know these week long vacations won't last forever with him. Our DDs go when they can, but I know different obligations come up as they get older. He turns 22 this week, so even though it won't last forever, I'll definitely enjoy his being with us whenever I can!

Glad it’s not Covid. I hope you feel better soon.

I honestly have none today - it's just too hot!

I did walk in the treadmill for a bit this morning by pairing it with a show I like on the iPad. But that kind if feels more like a bribe than actual motivation.
Yeah, the heat and humidity was rough today. I stepped outside to go for a swim, turned right around, and went back inside.

I also walked on the treadmill with the A/C blowing on me.

Thinking I am subconsciously stressed because I have been famished! My conscious stress eating is usually candy and fried stuff and cheese but the last few days it’s just been hunger without a specific want. On the one hand not good because it’s still stress eating but on the other hand it can be satisfied with peanut butter on a rice cake or an extra few bites of dinner…so I guess that’s better?
Did get outside for a mile walk today around campus. It was crazy hot but I just kept telling myself I was prepping for vaca! Yay motivation
One area of motivation completely lacking is checking on the garden. It’s like every time I get the oomph to do it it’s either pouring rain or crazy hot. The greens are likely bolting already because of the heat…hopefully I’ll get some beans or carrots to at least have something to show for my efforts.
