July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

I think Fran already mentioned this some pages ago but for us, we need a sweater hanger ( I think this is what it is called) it hangs down and has like 5 cubby holes. It is perfect for shirts. Each cubby holds about 6-8 shirts and it fits perfectly in the closet.

Other things on our list: Binoculars, extra memory cards for camera, batteries for the walkies, School calender so you can book your next cruise. Don't worry about getting things ironed......just send it out as soon as you get your luggage and you will have it back Sunday morning.

Ron....congrats on winning

Tisza.....Thanks for wrapping that conversation up

Back to work......

Dave

....hey all, I have missed all of you, but, I was busy getting ready for the ATA Karate World Championships, in which I took 1st Place in Weapons, but, tanked in Sparring and Forms... lol... I now hold the title of Nevada State Champion in ATA Weapons, which qualifies me to enter a new higher level of weapons competitions, including swords (YAY!).... While I was competing in Little Rock at the Worlds, I got a call that my grandfather was in critical condition, so i immediately flew to CT to "say goodbye" we went right from the airport to the hospital hoping to make it before he passed (he had been virtually unconscious for 2 weeks before his downturn) I walked into the room, he opened his eyes, looked at me, smiled and in a gravely voice (they pulled the breathing tube and feeding tube a couple hours earlier) said "What are you doing here, shouldn't you be at work?" My mom almost passed out!!! My uncles were getting ready to get on planes when my mom immediately called them and told them there was not going to be a funeral.... It was the most amazing recovery the Dr's and nurses had ever seen... so, he is slowly recovering now, so I expect to fly back home thursday... I should get a little more regular with my replies on here after that... If you all have any questions or suggestions for the Roy party, just PM them to me to make sure I receive them, ok? :teeth:

PS- I still have NOT received the Docs, though Disney promises they are "In the mail"

PPS- There is a new excursion being added to the CABO list, and it will be REALLY REALLY cool.... if you want to learn more about it, just PM me... it should be available soon to choose on the website so keep an eye out for it as well...

Congratulations Ron!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: For taking the 1st Place in Weapons at the ATA Karate World Championships! Wow! We don't want to be your enemy then....
Thanks for sharing the story about your grandfather. That was very uplifting! You must be his favorite grandson. All he needs is to see you and he will get better. He must be very proud of your achievements.......I hope he gets better so you can spend more time with him in the future. I miss my grandparents.....they are all gone now. I remember a funny story about my DH's grandma when she was in critical condition at the hospital. All her children came to say goodbye and ask for her forgiveness for all the heartaches they gave her. They started saying all the terrible stuff they did and discovered their evil secrets......then she suddenly got better and you all guessed what happened next.........
Can you please confirm if the July 4th party in your suite is an adult only party?
As for tips for other essentials......I am preparing a checklist so we won't forget anything. DH and I prepare a camping list every year for 6 families. I will create a cruise list.......
Here are some more ideas.....
(don't know if we need this one, we used them all when we sailed last September and hurricane Jeanne was behind us.....)-sea sickness patches for behind the ears
Sand castle buckets and shovels (for small kids to use at the beach)......
10 more days........yipeeeee :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
But no docs yet for us...... :sad2: :sad2: :sad2:
I guess if we get the docs last, we will be hiding from everyone......buying drinks for 50 people is worrying me.....yikes!!!!!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I skip reading the boards for a day, and all of a sudden I need to read a few pages to catch up. Whew. :earseek:

Anyway, count us in with two gift bags tied with green ribbons with unisex gifts and no candy!

A few questions for everyone:

What time are you planning to arrive at the port? Has any one heard if they are getting any quicker at getting people on the ship compared with the first and second sailings? I want to get on as early as I can, but with two little guys I don't want to sit around the port for a long time. Just wondering what time other people are thinking about.

Help with door signs: what do we do? What sort of signs are we talking about here? How are they placed on the door (tape or magnetic?)

All of a sudden I feel like I have a lot of packing and list making to do. Hurray- this weekend is our last before the trip!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Emily

We got our DOCs too. We are also going to the DIS meet and we will bring a gift bag.I hope to meet some of you and maybe become friends.

Crystal(13)

Emily.....we are being picked up from DL at 8:30. Not sure how long it will take to get there. Kids are older and have plenty to do to occupy their time such as MP3 or DVD's. As far as door signs go we are just using the mickey heads from Home Depot. They will have our DIS name and real name and one for each of the kids, they will have a magnetic piece on the back. Hope this helps?

Dave

WoW! Sorry if I started any of the gift bag drama! HAHA thanks Meeska for clearing it all up! NEway despite the drama it shall be ok! We are going to be particapating in the exchange and it will be a blast, and we can't wait!

Ron- Congratulations on your first place finish! What a heartwarming story about your grandfather. It brought tears to my eyes. I'm glad he's on the road to recovery.

I'm hoping to hit the dollar store tomorrow for the gift bags for the raffle.

   Woohoo!!

:Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2: Docs are in! (Not technically in my hand, but in at the travel agent's). Barring major catastrophe, Vanvmom and I will have them in hand tomorrow!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

Talked to a good friend of ours who was on the 6/11 cruise. She said that the lifeboat drill was at 3:30. Just a little FYI to help with the planning. She also said that out on deck, it was very chilly once you pulled out of each port.

YEAH to all who can join in the doc dance. :drinking1

Now......who is left to buy drinks?
Jim......maybe you and Dave should look into having a CASE of Crown sent directly to you on the ship!

Quick question... How can we have a Disney meet and gift exchange with approximately 100+ people at 3pm and get to a life jacket drill at 3:30 and still have to go back to your cabin and get the life jacket before hand. Is it too impractical to move the meet time back to 4pm? So that people can enjoy themselves. Last cruise we went on we also had a meet and greet before hand. It all fizzled because everyone had to scoot to the drill. Just my opinion. After the life boat drill is the cast off party as the ship leaves at 4pm. Alot of people will already be up on deck to see the ship leave the dock.

I can't wait for it to be a little cooler on the ocean. Yesterday here in the Phoenix area was 115 degrees.. It feels like a blast furnace. My air conditioner in the car didn't want to work. It just blew hot air.

Congratulations for your 1st place win Ron

Ok, I warned you all. My head just exploded. You are all too rational. Just tell me when and where to be and I'll be there with a slightly complaining DH because he's probably the one who gets to carry all the little goody bags for the overly (is that a word) bubbled kids. I might suggest moving it to 2:30 or 4:00 if I still had a head but since I don't, Ill leave all that thinking stuff to you all. Amy :flower:

BTW, the weather is definetly hotter than a week ago (80's during the day). I would recomend a sweater in the evening but that is all you should need.

Hi :cool1:

Well, there's a question that was just begging to be asked. Since you've already seen evidence of my decision making skills (really, I'm not THAT bad!) you just let me know--2:30, 4:00, we'll be there, bags in hand, colored ribbons and all.

Ron and Sue (vetswithpets): Where is Valley Springs? It sounds vaguely familiar, but maybe I'm thinking of someplace else (Valley Center?). We're from Nor Cal too (Elk Grove). It would be fun for us all to caravan from up here to down there, but we aren't leaving until Friday. We'll be staying in Buttonwillow overnight and heading down into LA Saturday AM. Have a great drive--see you sometime Saturday at the meet!

Crystal--DS10 is bringing pins to trade. He's a big Stitch fan. He won't trade a Stitch pin away, but if you have one he doesn't have, he'll try to trade for it for sure! But he also loves to trade just for the fun of trading.

Yes, I will be bringing pins to trade. I will have to look and see if I have any Stitch pins. That is something I don't collect. But I don't remember what is in my "trade" stash.

Wow an exploding head. That is a site to see! Yeah we had one of those around this house this past week.

Just keep it together till the cruise. Deep breathe...in.....out.....in...out...in...out....Lotus position and hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Now think about good thoughts...food, relaxing, food, chocolate souffle (Palo's), food, drink, sleep...

hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Feel better?

I asked this question of a friend of mine at DCL and was told there would likely be a "Special Party" on deck that night... Vague, but hope it helps a bit... :cool1: :Pinkbounc

As far as age limits go for the "Roy" party, well, I am just guess there are going to be a LOT of people there, so, maybe limiting it to the mature teens and up (i.e. 16+) would make sense... especially with all the wine and such... don't want any kids grabbing some "Jesus Juice" when no one is looking! :drinking:
