July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Judalyne- Have you tried Diet Vanilla Cherry Dr. Pepper? Love it!

Mokehil- I enjoy being so close to Tahoe as well (needalatte and I leave Thursday for Tahoe for a few days - just a huge group of women/moms "retreating" for a few days!)

Tisza- We are on Deck 2 as well (Rm 2622). Never been on a cruise before, but people I've talked to said deck 2 is great!

To all the new families..........We're glad you're here!!!!!

CONGRATS to wdw1014!

Jim.....this ain't looking too good for you, hon! :sad2:
Maybe you could sell a kidney or a child, or something like that?????????

Glad to see more 10 year 0ld DD's on this trip. Kelly will be looking for them. Now we just have to find a buddy for DS 13 (Steven).

XLT......you can rest easy. I think we already have red, white or blue shirts. Now white shorts and tan colored sandle -type heels, we don't have. I will check on that while Kelly goes to gym today. :smooth:

Ran errands this morning. Time to get some lunch.

Fran :teacher:

Hello tchrmom. Hola amigos, amigas!!! My DS(Mikey) just turned 14 last week. We did the Eastern Caribbean on the Disney Magic last year and he made a few friends at the Stack. Maybe Steven and Mikey can be buddies or good friends. :hyper2:

I have a few questions for experienced Disney cruisers like jgiants21......and countless others.........how much wine is allowed inside the ship? Are we in your list for the Cruise Meet and the 4th of July Party? We would like to join your parties! We will try our best to follow all the themes. It may be too difficult to do the Pirate Costume. We can do the tropical theme. How long after we get our cruise tickets do we get our other documents? I can't remember the last time we got them and how long it took for the other docs to arrive. :scared1: :scared1: :scared:

We have been calling Disney Cruise Lines everyday and no one is cancelling. So no upgrades for us. Has anyone heard of anyone cancelling a Cat. 4 cabin? :sad2:

We will bring some ice wine.

jgiants21, can you please update us on your list?

Here is a brief summary of our plans:
PV - Paradise Beach Adventure
Mazatlan - Mazatlan Frank
Cabo - No plans yet :confused3
Palo - Dinner, Wednesday, July 6th- 9:00
Palo - Brunch, Friday, July 8th - 10:30

cruzings, glad you got your docs. I hope we'll get ours soon! We're just so excited! We can't wait!

Adios! Buenos noches! Gracias! :wave2:

Clarissa...........Great! Another buddy for Steven. If you have walkie talkies, bring them. Our kids always hook up with other kids, and that is about the only way we can ever reach them! (They also have lots of fun calling each other while "hiding" on the ship)

dopeymama.............Has your dh heard od Cinzano Asti Spumanti??????

OK...........I'm pretty dumb............but what is "ice wine"? Twice now I have read about it on this thread. :confused3

mokehil.....Lucky you in Yosemite! XLT and I went there YEARS ago...........way before we even THOUGHT of having kids. LOVED it! Have a great day tomorrow!!!!!

Fran

(tchrmom looks around and notices that jim is NOWHERE to be seen. He must be delivering pizzas tonight, to help pay for the first round!)

Judalynn--I wanted to quote you, but I have no idea how to make that yellow box thing with your quote inside. :badpc: Someone help me!

Anyway, too funny: "We will be at the DIS meet at 3:00 unless we are the last to receive our cruise docs. Then we will be running and hiding all week." :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

With the list getting close to 100 and no docs in sight, I was starting to think the same thing. Yesterday I got an extra check in the mail for two days of subbing I did last month. DH said it was a good thing, because I'll need it to cover the cost of that first round of drinks. Good to know he's getting into the spirit of it all! :earboy2:

We have not yet received our docs so I'm totally with you all about running and hiding all week.....With the number growing, we will be wearing a disguise instead of costumes! :scared: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :worried: :worried: :scared: :scared:

FYI, Clarissa is my DH's sister from Canada, whose family jgiants 21 has listed along with ours.

I have forgotten to introduce ourselves: I am Pam and it's my birthday on July 2!!! DH is Geoff. DD (10) is Isabelle and DD (6) is Danielle. We live in Texas. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise. We are so excited. I have taken the suitcases out and although I have not packed, I am just throwing things in it to make sure I do not leave them behind.

We hope to meet you all. My cell phone has a countdown: 17 days, 14 hours and 39 minutes remaining...... :hourglass

Thanks cruzings. My turn to introduce ourselves: I'm Laly or Clarissa (no guessing there!)(40), my DH is Jojo (40), DS is Mikey(14), DD is Sam(9) and other DD is Toni(4). We're from Vancouver, British Columbia and it's our 2nd Disney Cruise on the Magic.

My 2 DD loved the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club. I was worried that my DS was going to get bored on our 1st cruise but was happy to see he made some friends. We enjoyed the Palo dining experience and will take every opportunity to dine there again. The chocolate souffle was "to-die-for." We enjoyed all the meals but were starting to miss the oriental and exotic dishes here in Vancouver. We wish Disney will hire some really good sushi chefs and chefs who can cook authentic oriental dishes. Has anyone tried the cafe? Do they make caramel macchiatos?

Ice Wine: I have to do more research on this but from what I know (and I might be wrong, I'm not a connoiseur..), the grapes that are harvested to make ice wine should be just when the first frost almost freeze the grapes. The grapes are harvested at just the near freezing temperature. It is a dessert wine and sweet unlike the dry wines. I am also not too much of a wine drinker but my personal preference are merlot and moscato. They are inexpensive wines. My DH likes the Drustdyhof (don't know the correct spelling). I don't mind having some Dom Perignon but due to economic reasons ;) :rolleyes1 , that champagne will be reserved for my silver wedding anniversary or my DS or DD wedding! :groom: :bride:

Gotta have dinner now and got to make that pearl and crystal necklace for my DD's teacher!

Wow! :worship: That gift makes the Trader Joe's gift certificates we give our sons' teachers look downright dull! I wish I were that talented (and my sons' teachers probably do too) :teeth:

BTW - Welcome to the group! We're looking forward to meeting everyone and having faces to go with the names. DH thinks I'm crazy when I mention names of the people in this forum in conversation (secretly, I think he is a lurker on the site - reading but not posting). :ssst:

As for theme night, I'm thinking at this point I'm going to bail on the pirate costumes. pirate: I loved the costume ideas posted on here, but I'm a little overwhelmed trying to get costumes together for all 5 of us. I'm not a party pooper, and really not the shy type (in fact some have even called me rather "dramatic"). I'm just plain out of time to shop more :scared1: Yes, it shocks even me to admit that one. We'll just go for the tropical look (we all have it already). :teeth:

Count me in for the margaritas. I can do on the rocks. Just recently I started making them with the organic limeade from trader joes. It's yummy. ;)

I am flying down and can help you unload your car or carry in armloads of stuff for you! :goodvibes

Still considering finding a bottle or two of champagne. That will make my carry on HEAVY and have gone back and forth. Bring, don't bring. Even though I can outrun my four I still have to keep track of them.... It would not be appropriate to have them carry alcohol with their stuffed animals. :sad2:

Today my chore is fixing the serger and sewing the pillowcases for guest services. Anyone alse do this? What about room signs? I am have a terrible time designing anything. :confused3 Anyone have some thing I could copy? :wave2:

Darcy

Please explain about sewing the pillowcases for guest services. What is that all about?

Vickie

I think I know what that is--correct me if I'm wrong, Darcy.

You can bring an item like a T-shirt, pillowcase, etc., to guest services and they will have the characters autograph it. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo princess: pirate: By the end of the cruise your item will be ready, autographed like they do the autograph books in the parks. I think we are going to go with an 8x10 picture mat and have the characters sign that. Then we can pick our favorite family cruise picture and have it framed with the autographed mat.

I have heard that they will either do a) one item per person registered in your cabin or b) any number of items. I guess it just depends on whom you ask.

I've got to say that I'm impressed that mokehil is making her own pillowcases (is that right??) I've made drapes and halloween costumes, but I've never used a serger and have no idea what it's for. Are you making covers for pillow forms? I've done that before.

Should I call my TA AGAIN to ask about documents? I have had no luck downloading them so I don't even know how much time they will take to fill out. There is still time but our days are filled since school got out.

Have a fun day planned tomorrow- taking the kids to Yosemite for the day. I have heard the waterfalls are magnificent. We will bike a little, hike a little, and have lunch. Some are two hours from WDW, we are 2 hours from Lake Tahoe or Yosemite; just different wonderlands.

edited to add:
TA just called, they are in!!! Will send them priority mail tomorrow. Should have them by Friday!

Phew, now I don't have to complete the second mortgage papers...... :cool1:
We go to Yosemite every summer for a week and stay in the Curry Village Cabins (with bathrooms!) This will be our first summer not going....and I already miss the quiet calm of being in the valley and floating down the Merced on a raft! Ahhhhhhh........Oh thats right......We're going on the Magic instead - Woohoo! We'll be booking Yosemite for next summer right when we return from the cruise, since we have to book 366 days ahead!
Have a great time in one of our other favorite places!
Jill

From what I understand on Pirate night, everyone gets a pirate bandana at dinner and from the pictures that previous cruisers have posted you will see one extreme to the other. Some go all out and look amazing, but I saw quite a few girls wearing black pants, white t-shirt/tank and a red/white striped fabric belt, along with the bandana tied around their hair and voila'...pirate themed clothes you already had packed. Check out some of the pic's others have posted on other threads. Today I found packages of eye patches and fake hoop earrings at Party City near my house.

Hi All,

Count us in for the Party at "Roy's" place! I am going to bring a couple bottles of Martinellis (they charge $18 a bottle for the stuff on the ship!) and will leave the wine to my DH who actually drinks the stuff and will be a better resource than I am. BTW, he swears by "Two Buck Chuck", personally I don't see a difference it all looks and smells like spoiled grape juice to me :rotfl:.

As for the door decor, I am going to head over to our local .99 cent store to see if they have anything useful (they sometimes have little white boards, etc). What do you do with the pillowcases? Is this something else that I should be making or buying? Details please.

I don't think that I can bring food aboard, but I do know (according to the folks at DT Reservations) I can bring chocolate and since I make some of the best hand made truffles around I will try to bring some of them to add to the party.

Every day adds a new level of excitement over here. I am so thrilled to get to be part of this special event and to meet some new friends as well!

I just found out that our cabin will be 2111. Has anyone ever stayed on deck 2 before. Anything we should know?

Well, I have to head off to scrounge the thrift stores as I have two more pirate getups to put together and I don't want to wait until the totally last minute. Although, now that you mention it a paper folded hat and a balloon sword (I will supply the balloons) might not be a bad idea  ...

Take care all and have a terrific day!

Tisza

Tisza ... We are also on deck 2, room 2028. The first cruise we stayed on deck 2, then the last cruise we were on deck 5. I missed seeing the water level and the waves that you can see on deck 2. However the convenience of deck 5 was nice.

We still have no docs... maybe tomorrow.

The Richie clan will also be at the 4th of July party at the Roy Disney Suite. We will bring our own drinks.

A cheap door decoration is to get the paint chips from Home Depot in the shape if Mickey and put magnetic tape on the back. Then you can write your names and where you are from on the front in a sharpie marker.

I love that! Red and white striped fabric, hoop earrings and you're done! :cheer2:

(Everytime I think of pirate costumes, I think of that episode of Seinfeld where he had to wear the puffy shirt on TV. Does anyone else remember that?)

Today we ventured to the County Clerks office to check on our 4 kids birth certificates. You may recall 3 were abstract orginals (1984, 1990, 1992) and 1 was full page certificate (1998). I had emailed our TA, called DCL and called the county office and could not get the same answer from any of them, as to if they were the kind we needed to have. I couldn't take the chance that they were not the correct documentation needed to board. Luckily, I was right. They were all 4 wrong and we had to purchase 4 new certificates for the kids ($18 each and no free trade in of the old one as previously mentioned), they have the correct (raised) seal and stamp that DCL requires. DH and I have passports so we are ok. The clerk told me the rules have really changed for travel since 9-11 and that is the reasoning behind it.

Just wanted to give you all the heads up in case you hadn't checked your birth certificates yet.

My husband works for a wine distributor as a wine manager. We are planning on bringing lots of wine to enjoy with dinner and in our cabin. I'll throw some extra botttles in to bring to the Roy Suite party. My DH LOVES margeritas- I'll bring some tequila along too. Since we don't have to drive, it makes it easy to bring.

Emily

Well, I definately have to get to know your husband, then. :teeth:

Wow this thread has been very busy today!

Margaritas & Chocolates - now that is a combo :earseek: - My DW will be definitely cancel our Palo tea to make this PARTY :goodvibes

We prob will not do the pirate outfits, pirate: but you never know.

Congats for all who did the doc dance today   - I know mine will come one day..... It is only a matter of time :hourglass

As for door decorations, there will be a different sign on our door each day, come by 2133 and see it if you have time. Of couse the door will have a 4th of July theme. My son is not 13 by he is turning 12 on the 4th. He may want to hang with you DS who are 13.

Fran, you know there is a SAMS across the street from the port in PV. I expect that you will pick up another bottle of Crown for Dave there. ;) :drinking:

Darcy, Have fun in Yosemite - Is is a wonderful place. The falls must be fantastic this year, as they have had a ton of snow. :cold:

Betsy, the puffy shirt show was so funny, :rotfl2: thanks for the reminder!

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY To Mikey :bday: :cake: :bday:

Jim

We love margaritas too! On the rocks is great by me! There was a post somewhere that I read that sounded like a blender was brought aboard! There was a recipe in our newspaper the other day - La Bandera Mexicana - it's a cocktail layered with the colors of the Mexican flag. It's got frozen margarita mixed with creme de menth on the bottom for green, then fro mar with pina colada for the middle and then fro mar with strawberry mixer for the red all layered in a tall, chilled pilsner glass. Sounds yummy, but like too much work :flower:

As for the pirate dress - we won't go all out either. DS13 happens to already have a yellow "hawaiin" shirt with red flames on it, DH has a black one with red flames already and DS15 is going on a 36' sailboat next week as part of a Boy Scout trip. They designed their own t-shirts for the voyage. They're quite simple, but sort of pirate like. Although it is a t-shirt I figured it would be o.k. that night in the dining room. I'm the one without anything - hence the $4.99 Ross shirt I mentioned earlier that I may do something with. pirate:

Fran, Bryce is not shy. He's quite social. He and Steven and Mikey and whomever else will have a great time! I saw on one of the recent Navigators there's a teen sunset cruise excursion in PV. Can that be booked ahead? Any teens interested?

We have "two-buck" chuck here - however it's 3 bucks :goodvibes We've usually got some of that on hand.

DH needs to print some things off for work....gotta go for now.

Jim

There is a SAMS across the street? Can I walk over there? Is there a membership thingee? This might solve my problem-- get to port, check in, while waiting to board run across the street and get my alcohol and maybe some bottled water.. Might even consider buying a blender! :rotfl: Anyone what to pitch in on a blender fund? :rotfl2:

Sorry for the delay in pillowcase explaination- the onformation given is correct. I finished them tonight. Girl Disney fabric was easy to find, boy fabric was hard. Might have two extra ones. Cinderella. kids are in bed now so not sure which ones they choose and if they really wanted doubles or not.

Thanks for the well wishes on Yosemite trip. We are not going in the water this trip:too cold, too swift.

good night

Darcy

Darcy, the SAMS is in PV not in San Pablo.. It would not be until 7/5 before you can get the mix. May be a little late for the party. Jim
