July 2, 2005 - WE ARE THERE!!!

Hello fellow cruisers!

Fran, one of our DS is 13 (Bryce). He is quite a character! I just bought him a t-shirt today that says "I'm multi-talented.....I can talk and annoy you at the same time". Hopefully he and Steven will hit it off! :earsboy:

Tisza, thanks for the pirate tips. I found a blouse at Ross for $4.99 today I'm going to try and do something with. It's cut really weird and the sleeves are really long - no wonder it was $4.99! I figured it wouldn't matter if I messed with it. It laces up the front like what you talked about. pirate:

We don't have our docs either. The TA was going to check with Disney and make sure all is o.k. They (TA) did say if it was a sailing they had a group blocked that could be the delay - DCL will send them all together. That doesn't make a whole lot of sense though - it's getting close to sailing date no matter if your last name starts with A or with Z. Whatever. :confused3

I'll try and bring some wine for the Roy Suite party as well. Be forwarned.....I buy by price ("less expensive" sounds better than cheap :teeth: ) and then by the look of the label. We enjoy wine, but are far from connoisseurs :goodvibes

Jim, for the lists....we have Palo dinner reserved for Monday night since that is our anniversary :love2: . We have brunch reserved for Friday. We're considering doing the Pirate Ship in PV (provided there are still spaces left). Anyone else doing this? Still with Randi for MZT (great idea about meeting onboard). Still winging it in Cabo.

I can't remember if there was anything else I needed to reply to. I'm afraid to go back a page for fear I'll lose everything I typed!

Nite All,
Sherry

O.K. I still don't have a clue about wine. What kind should I buy? I can't wait to see the Roy Suite and meet new friends. It is not the fact that I must bring something, I don't mind one bit. It is just that this is not something that we (dh and I) know anything about. Please Help!!!
Angie

Jim..........I've been trying to think of other ways for you to earn that drink $.
( :wizard: Here is some pixie dust for you and your UPS man)

Dave did see a LARGE bottle of Crown at Sam's this weekend. Maybe if I bought a really large Hobo type handbag, I could carry it on for him! ;)

Amy....loved the Blues Clues pirate hat idea. XLT and I are not going to worry about Pirate dress. Just look for us to be wearing "tropical attire".

Two weeks from today we leave!!!!!!!!!!

Daretodream..................

How shy is Bryce? It would be great if the boys would meet up before boarding.......however, Steven is NOT very out-going about meeting new people. He's kinda like his dad. And if I'd never pushed THAT first date, I'm not sure we'd be getting ready to celebrate our 18th anniversary! :love2:

wdw.........bring some Arbor Mist, and I'll think you have great taste!
Fran
:teacher:

Glad to know that we are not the only wine ignorant people. I do not drink it at all and Fran only drinks the screw top Arbor Mist unless she is at Victoria and Alberts in WDW :rotfl2: She will have to tell you that story. Just imagine a different glass of wine with every course.

Judalyne....not sure which shows you are referring to but the stage shows and the caberat shows are about 30 minutes. Seems like some of the caberat shows go 45 minutes.

With wine, expensive does not always mean it is good. A very reasonably priced wine with a Disney connection is something from the Fess Parker Winery. As some will note, Fess Parker was the original Davy Crockett. He has an excellent Syrah and Chardonnay. His vineyard produces the house wine at Club 33 inside of Disneyland. The pricing is very fair ($14.00 - $28.00) and can usually be found at large retailers and even places like Costco and Sam's Club. You may even order online (shipping restrictions may apply).

Hope this helps a little...

From what I remember.......there were 12 courses????????? And........the night turned out better than the night we went to Emeril's! :rotfl2:
Actually, if you are celebrating something REALLY special.......Do Victoria and Alberts!

We don't drink much, either. A glass of wine at my parents for Christmas is about it. I have a friend who swears by "Two-Buck Chuck" from Trader Joe's, but even my non-wine drinking DH doesn't go for that. I'm happy to pitch in, though. Maybe this calls for a weekend trip to Napa before the cruise. Yeah, that's it...great excuse! ;) Went to Sonoma yesterday with DS' 4th grade class on a field trip, but it probably wouldn't have been appropriate to stop and buy a bottle of wine at that time.

I say we smuggle a blender on board and blend up a couple of batches of Margaritas!! If we want to keep on the wine theme how about making some Sangria. Amy :flower: ( Logistically, it may be impossible but just trying to stay with the Mexico theme) :cool1:

I would be happy with a blender and margaritas as well. Can we get one onboard or shall we bring one in our luggage?

I'd be happy to bring a bottle of tequila and mix since we don't have to carry it on an airplane. We could even do them on the rocks if a blender is too much trouble. Anyone else like a Margarita?? :drinking1 Amy :flower:

Count me in for the margaritas. I can do on the rocks. Just recently I started making them with the organic limeade from trader joes. It's yummy. ;)

I am flying down and can help you unload your car or carry in armloads of stuff for you! :goodvibes

Still considering finding a bottle or two of champagne. That will make my carry on HEAVY and have gone back and forth. Bring, don't bring. Even though I can outrun my four I still have to keep track of them.... It would not be appropriate to have them carry alcohol with their stuffed animals. :sad2:

Today my chore is fixing the serger and sewing the pillowcases for guest services. Anyone alse do this? What about room signs? I am have a terrible time designing anything. :confused3 Anyone have some thing I could copy? :wave2:

 Hello everyone. Those who say that missing one or two days on the board is like missing a week are correct. I just had to read 4 pages of posts lol.

Anyway, since everyone is talking about alcohol I wanted to know how much we can bring aboard? We'll definitely drop in on the dis-meet at 3. Still have to do a lot of shopping and time seems to be ticking away faster than usual. I guess that's good because it means that we'll be cruising soon.

Hope everyone is exhilarated and doing well.

Margarita on the rocks sounds great to me! I think it was Ron on his first cruise that said on one of the excursions they mixed Tequila with a soda of some type (Fresca, Squirt, something odd like that). If I could remember what it was... I'd try it! :goodvibes Maybe I'll try the TJ Limeaid as well. I don't drink it often, but I do enjoy the taste.

As for door decor... we have a flag (because we'll be there over the 4th). We also have magnets for the door, and a white board with magnets on the back for leaving notes. That's about as creative as I get.

My husband works for a wine distributor as a wine manager. We are planning on bringing lots of wine to enjoy with dinner and in our cabin. I'll throw some extra botttles in to bring to the Roy Suite party. My DH LOVES margeritas- I'll bring some tequila along too. Since we don't have to drive, it makes it easy to bring.

Hi All,

Count us in for the Party at "Roy's" place! I am going to bring a couple bottles of Martinellis (they charge $18 a bottle for the stuff on the ship!) and will leave the wine to my DH who actually drinks the stuff and will be a better resource than I am. BTW, he swears by "Two Buck Chuck", personally I don't see a difference it all looks and smells like spoiled grape juice to me :rotfl:.

As for the door decor, I am going to head over to our local .99 cent store to see if they have anything useful (they sometimes have little white boards, etc). What do you do with the pillowcases? Is this something else that I should be making or buying? Details please.

I don't think that I can bring food aboard, but I do know (according to the folks at DT Reservations) I can bring chocolate and since I make some of the best hand made truffles around I will try to bring some of them to add to the party.

Every day adds a new level of excitement over here. I am so thrilled to get to be part of this special event and to meet some new friends as well!

I just found out that our cabin will be 2111. Has anyone ever stayed on deck 2 before. Anything we should know?

Well, I have to head off to scrounge the thrift stores as I have two more pirate getups to put together and I don't want to wait until the totally last minute. Although, now that you mention it a paper folded hat and a balloon sword (I will supply the balloons) might not be a bad idea  ...

Take care all and have a terrific day!

Tisza

I have some catching up to do here. I don't think we will be wearing any pirate costumes - Is the theme for the night tropical or pirate? - I know not everyone dresses up the part - it's nice and interesting though for those that do and I admire their effort. We will probably wear tropical or "normal clothes". I don't want to bring any extra or any more than we really need. Since we will also be coming from Palo brunch, we will mostly likely not be wearing the red/white/blue - sorry - will look for a pin/flag - don't want to be a party pooper - I honestly don't have much time left for extras - (unfortunately just had a death ith in the family in PA - lot's of going back and forth - almost two hours away).

My dh had to literally chase the UPS truck today :rotfl: We saw him walk away from our house (we were all home too). We thought he left the box on our steps but instead he left a note with first attempt to deliver - we did not hear any doorbell. My dh got in his truck and drove around the block to get our documents for second cabin. I will need a few minutes next week to fill them all out and still need to sign and fill out all our passports and make copies.

Does anyone feel right now like this is work? I really need to relax on this cruise.

Should I call my TA AGAIN to ask about documents? I have had no luck downloading them so I don't even know how much time they will take to fill out. There is still time but our days are filled since school got out.

Have a fun day planned tomorrow- taking the kids to Yosemite for the day. I have heard the waterfalls are magnificent. We will bike a little, hike a little, and have lunch. Some are two hours from WDW, we are 2 hours from Lake Tahoe or Yosemite; just different wonderlands.

edited to add:
TA just called, they are in!!! Will send them priority mail tomorrow. Should have them by Friday!

Phew, now I don't have to complete the second mortgage papers...... :cool1:

Dave, thanks for the info on the shows. I wanted to know how long the Dreams and Golden Mickey shows were for planning purposes. Your info helps.

As far as the party at the Roy Suite, DD and I don't do alcohol either. My addiction is Diet Dr. Pepper. I am definitely bringing some on board! I can bring some to the party or I can do grape Martinelli's.

Called my TA about docs. She said that they would be in NEXT WEEK!!! and that she would mail them to me. Sigh. I'm afraid I'll be running and hiding...
