Hi All,

First things first... I am Tisza and will be attending the 7/4 party with my DH Mel, Best Friend Barrett & her DH Ken, his parents (who are the ones that arranged for this trip and brought all of us along) Susan and Larry and their cousin's Stephanie and Ron (8 in all).

I would say that I second all the thank you's that have already been expressed not only for the generosity of the party hosts but also for the generosity of spirit of all that I have met here in the short time that I have been around, however as I am too late to "second" the good wishes I shall have to content myself with seventhing or something even farther down in the thank you food chain.

On another topic, I spoke to someone in reservations at DCL today (again) and asked yet another litany of questions. Here is what I found out.

Regarding special events planned for the July 4th celebration aboard ship. There will be a special one time only appearance of all the characters in patriotic garb, special patriotic themed foods and a special deck party. No fireworks are planned as of yet but according to the reservationist that could change. Other special "surprises" are planned.

Regarding confetti and party poppers for sail away. Yes, you are welcome to bring and use party poppers (the little plastic wine bottle things that shoot streamers out of their bottems), confetti, bubbles things of that nature. No actual fireworks are allowed however.

It is not too late to have something sent to the ship so that it will be waiting in your stateroom or if it is a gift, in the stateroom of the recepient. Quay Cruise Agencies 1025 W. 190th Street, Suite 165, Gardena, CA 90248 (321) 354-8216 is the place that you contact to make arrangements. Items need to be in the agencies hands by 5 pm pacific time Friday in order to be placed first thing monday. Also if you are sending something and want the item to be displayed and not just left in its shipping box be sure to write a note to that effect on the outside of the box for the room steward.

This one is the biggee. If you wish to rebook for a future cruise you don't need to know the date that you for sure want to travel just make a reservation and then firm up the date after you get home. As long as the reservation is made and the deposit is paid while you are still onboard you will get the 10% discount and $200 savings. You can then move your reservation to a different date or even year without losing your discounted rate.

Oh and I just found out that you can bring unopened liquor off the ship.

Didn't I know it - my dh who keeps telling me that our luggages are way too big, he does not need much, bla, bla, bla - now tells me we need to run out for sneakers, pants, shorts. He is getting better - normally he would say this the night he packs (which would be the night before leaving) and would make a run out to the store. So we should be shopping today before visiting with my in-laws.

Hi All,

Regarding having items delivered ahead of time to the ship, I don't know if there is a charge for this service as I have not called them yet to get that info, but I will be calling first thing tomorrow morning and will post what I find out. I did neglect to include one important thing about using this service and that was that you need to write "PIER DELIVERY", the ship and stateroom number, sail date and the guest's name on the OUTSIDE of the box so that it will be shipped to the right receipent. Also, if this is a gift you want to be displayed out of the shipping box you need to write (also prominently on the outside of the box) "ROOM STEWARD PLEASE OPEN AND DISPLAY".

I have two phone numbers for the shipping service (321) 799-9100 or (321) 354-8216 and just to refresh everyone's memory they are Quay Cruise Agencies, 1025 W. 190th Street, Suite 165, Gardena, California, 90248.

Again, anything that you want have delivered needs to be in their hands by 5pm the friday before you sail.

As for where we are from, I am a Californian native currently residing in Claremont along with my DH Mel. Susan & Larry are also Claremont, CA residents. Barrett & Ken and their two children DD Serena 10 and DS Chad 7 are living in Alta Loma, CA (about 15 minutes from us) and Stephanie and her DH Ron and their two kids DD Elizabeth 10 & DS William Joseph 15 are from "back east", sorry I don't have better info on them but I have not met them before.

One other thing that I found out while talking to the nice reservationist at DCL is that if you choose to purchase one of the wine packages to enjoy while aboard ship you can drink more than one bottle per night and if you have not finished your alottment by the end of the cruise you can only take two bottles home with you. I am assuming that this would apply to unopened bottles only.

There is no limit to how much alcohol or how many soda you can bring aboard as long as they are safely packed, and carried on. Sodas, beer, wine or anything like that needs to be hand carried and can't be packed in the luggage that you check. If it is found in your luggage, it will be confiscated and will not be returned until the end of the cruise. Any opened containers of either food or drink can not be taken off the ship at the end of your cruise so bring only what you want to drink.

As the movie selection seems rather poor, I think that my family will probably be eschewing them films in favor of the stage shows or other activities. After all, you can see these films at home on land and the shipboard fun is only available on board ship so...

BTW, is anyone else glancing at the clock and frequently thinking "By this time next week we will be eating breakfast, watching a show or strolling the deck on board the ship".?

Well, I need to go back to making my packing list. I finished getting all the raffle gift bags ready yesterday so at least one thing is actually done.

My lists are quickly turning into reality and I've come across a few questions, some of them maybe repeats but I don't have the time to go back and try to find the answers:
Shoes for teens? Do they need "dressy" shoes for any of the nights? My older sons consider their "good black vans tennies" to be their dressy shoes, and I hate to spend more money on shoes they won't wear again.

Any younger girls bringing any princess dresses to wear and what princesses are usually on board?

Anyone bringing beach towels from home or are the ship towels fine?

There are soap/shampoo toiletry samples in our rooms, I noticed these listed on a previous posted list, is that just because they want their "home" brand or do they no longer offer these? ( at this point any room I can save the better!)

Valley Springs is in the Central Valley of California

Well We took Our pre trip parents relaxation weekend. A must when you are going to all 4 spend a week in one room. We also got the bulk of the shoppin done and now it is time for the sorting and the packing. Im Sure it will be a very busy week trying to get everything ready to leave at work and the kids. ready. We leave thursday night so that we can have an acclimation day for vacation and getinto vacation mode.

Time to put everythng together and hope we don't forget anything.

I gave up packing 2 weeks before when I forgaot the formal dresses that I had put aside 2 weeks before.
My dh wasn't really happy about that one.

we are all excited for the cruise and have finished the raffle bags Now to get down to packing so that we don't sink the ship with all our stuff.

On Friday I started to say, this time next week we will be flying, Saturday I said, this time next week, we will be boarding - oh yes, now I say something everyday

The last time we cruised in 2003 - they did give daily small bars of soap and packets of shampoos w/conditioner in it that I found hard to open. You can probably ask for more but we just brought our own. Especially with everyone taking more than one shower a day, my dds long hair and she must use Pantene conditioner otherwise I need half of a bottle of detangler to get knots out.

Sue - you are worried about the ship sinking with all the luggage and I worry about the plane staying up with all the luggage - have I mentioned before that I do not enjoy flying?

Jim - will you update list again? I printed out first one, not second one just in case you update again. If not, I will print out the last one you emailed. Thanks.

hi! we had a bomb of clothes also last night. and figured out that dana dh, neede more shorts since he lost 60 lbs last yr. so off to the mall we went and i also got one more skirt for palos brunh!! also, eveyone has to bring an over abundance of underare! cause this mamma aint doin any laundry!!! yes we are bringing beach towel. we have 2 from the previos cruise and hopefully castaway club will give us another. read on the re dis board all about the krystal hotel that is right near where we dock in pv. tchrmom we will look for you at paradise pier! i'm 5ft 1 and dh is 6ft3! we plan to tour LA maybe wed or thurs. well time to do wash now as i am yelling at everyone to stop wearing clothes that they are bring with them!! i will check in tororrow and again like eveyone is saying thanks to all of you for being our friends on line as we have all prared to thes fantastic cruise!! sweet dreams of the horn! and a cocktail of course! lisa

When we cruised 10/04, they were still giving out lotion and shampoo and cond. everyday.

As for dress shoes for dinner........XLT and I are not really big on making our kids dress up for dinner. (Remember, we did Palo on Formal night to avoid dressing up twice) Nice "Vans" are perfect. (at least for us) You will see some kids REALLY dressed up....................and then you will see our kids in the kind of clothes that you would wear out to eat in Tampa. This is their vacation too.

We never bring beach towels, since Disney provides the towels. Think of it as more room for shoes!
