I THINK in the beginning she'll wear it day and night and eventually just at night! I'm sure they'll tell us everything next week when we go in but since it'll be the day before we leave, I doubt I'll be hearing anything they tell me!!

Hey Lisa, that is what Melissa had to do in the beginning, when she got her braces off too. Then just nighttime. However, and this is big: last summer (about a year after getting her braces off), she went through a couple of weeks not wearing them at night. I don't remember the reason, but when she then tried to put them back in, turned out they were bothering her....her teeth had started to spread in just that little time! Of course, then, she never wore them at all after that, and guess what? Teeth kept spreading, and one started to turn again! Ortho then fitted her for a brand new retainer (more $), and told her to wear both upper and lower full days again......or risk getting the braces back on! :scared1: That has actually happened to a couple girls we know. So now, retainers are back, although now we are at just at night again. So make sure Alexa keeps those retainers doing their job: none of these girls want to get their braces back on again!! :sad2:

Ok, excercise: yup, I'm with you guys, I feel sooo much better after I work out, even though most of the time I don't feel like it! We try to walk every day here also, although now that it is hot, usually in the evening. I wait for DH so that we can walk together: it's like the only time of the day that we can talk without being half asleep! :teeth: Anyway, I will be looking to walk on the ship too, although I am not sure that I'll be there with you at 6 a.m.!! ;)

And we'll be using those stairs quite a bit too! ::yes::

i got my retainer in janunary of 03 (in time for my first cruise). I wore it for one month all day/night like i was soposed to. Then on the cruise i was soposed to wear it just nights. I wore it maybe 2 more times after that. They are a little off now but after wearing for a night or two they fit perfect again. I havent tried in a few months... but teeth still look perfect :D

Those of you with kids with passports - since they can only print right now, do you sign their passports for them? Sign their name or yours?

Also, on the Bahamian immigration form, is the day of entry just July 7, the day at CC?

I am teaching summer school right now too (HS World History) :teacher:

It's killing me now, but it'll just make the cruise ever-so-sweeter. :tigger: :mickeyjum

I'm a teacher too. I opted out of summer school. I did that for about 10 years straight and burned myself out. I am very poor in the summer time, but much happier. :earboy2:

I heard the launch is supposed to go up sometime around 3ish. Does anyone know what time they will do the life boat drill?

:tigger:

My sister called Disney. July 7 is the date they told her to write on the form. :tigger:

How old are your kids? My girls got their first passports at 2 months, and 15 months. I signed their name, and under that wrote "by mom" as instructed. I might call and get an official answer to that. Here is what I pulled off the official site. I would still call. If they can print their name, that might be good enough. My child is too young to sign his/her own passport. How do I sign my child's passport?

In the space provided for the signature, the mother or father must print the child's name and sign their own name. Then, in parenthesis by the parent's name, write the word (mother) or (father) so we know who signed for the child.

The girls have to wear theirs 24/7. Take them out to eat and brush, that's it. The did Jess's impressions yesterday, and then cranked on a couple of super tight chains (made out of rubber bands) to close a couple of small gaps. They didn't say anything to me about not wanting to take them off, and they told her to be back Wed at 2, so we are good to go! :woohoo: What's even better is that I had to pay them off to get the braces off, :scared1: even though the insurance isn't done paying. They are going to turn the checks over to me. It should be here by the time we get back. That will be nice to come home to!

I just looked at my calendar and realized I am down to 8 days before we leave!!! :scared1: Good thing I have some of my stuff laid out to pack. I will start that this weekend. I'm sure I will figure out there is something vitally important we are missing. :teeth: That is about how it works for me. I have a couple of things I need to get that keep getting carried over to the next day. I need memory cards for the girls cameras, and pantyhose. :lmao:

I just realized if I come in early tomorrow, I will be out of here at 10:30! Hey, those little 15 minute bits add up. I can get all of my last minute stuff done tomorrow, and have the weekend to do laundry and pack. My laundry room is full of both clean and dirty clothes. More dirty at this point since I haven't been home yet this week. :rotfl:

Better look like I've done something this morning. My boss will be here in a few minutes. Of course, he very seldom comes over here, so it's not really much of an issue. I stop in his office sometime in the morning and give him a list of accounts he needs to contact, or rating changes that need to be made. :rolleyes1 He does want to go over part of billing sometime today. I'm not going to be here much the next 2 days! :woohoo:

I would call the passport people. I think this is the number you can call with questions. If not, they can direct you where you need to be.

Nancy- Please have Melissa email Alexa about the braces!!! xoalexaxo@sbcglobal.net
I have already informed her that I can NOT and will NOT pay to have the braces put on so she'd better do what the ortho. says! She has alot of friends who's teeth don't look so straight anymore so I hope that will be enough to make her do as they say! :thumbsup2 :confused3

I am NOT normally here at work on Thursdays and Fridays so I am not functioning well! As promised, I am worthless until June 29th!!!!!

Am I the only one that did not get passports?? I have one but it's expired and I just did not have close to $300.00 extra in the cruise budget to get them?! I'll have to do it soon but figured I would not spend the extra money since I did not have to yet!

We just renewed ours "in case". Of what, I have no idea! :lmao: I let them expire, and hadn't meant to. Oh well. :confused3

I have been worthless at work all week! It's taken me all week to do something that should take 2 hours tops!! :rotfl2:

My girls have been threatened if they a) lose their retainer (I'm betting Jess loses at least 1) and b) if they don't wear them and their teeth move back. I'm with you Lisa, I won't pay for another set. At over $3K/kid, it's not happening! :furious:

Off to find something that looks like work. All of my reports are done, so essentially, I'm just taking up space now. :lmao:

Ok, I bought 12 and left it in the bag :cool1: . Very tempting, but I have tons to do now. It's the little details that nag me now. Have to make a green tag for myself and cut out Mickey heads for the door along with START making door signs. ACK.

Patti, I give you permission to leave then if you are just taking up space!! :thumbsup2

Lisa from FL has already started reading that book you all are talking about so someone had better tell her to STOP or she'll be done before the cruise!

I'm TRYING to work on a Hawaii package for someone and I keep ending up back on the DIS board! Hmmm, how does that happen!!??! :confused3

Thanks! Now you just have to tell them to continue paying me! :rotfl: You know I will have those pesky credit card bills showing up when I get back. :sad2:

Lisa from Fl - Don't tell us! I want to save it for vacation, and as far as I'm concerned, that starts the minute I step foot into the airport! We can all sit together and read, and people will think we've been into the drink with all the laughing! :rotfl2:

Hey Lisa from KS (LOL), just do what my TA did. She went camping so my docs sat on her front porch for a day before her dh came in to check mail! :scared1: She called me last night and said she would be back this afternoon and she would call me after they were checked in. I'm not concerned. I've moved on with my worries!

Our orthodontist recommended braces for my daughter in second grade, which did straighten her teeth :teeth:, but after she had them off she had a baby tooth that held on for dear life, which screwed up that permanent tooth. Now the orthodontist is talking about braces AGAIN...Phase 2 she calls it. I am upset, because I didn't want "Phases", I want them straight!! :furious: I reached my lifetime limit on orthodontic care already with my insurance, so it will all be out of pocket next time. I have applied for a new job so maybe they have different dental coverage, but I have been (patiently!) waiting on this job since I applied/interviewed in April, and I was just contacted yesterday for a possible starting pay. It is being "negotiated", but who knows! I need money, especially after our cruise! :boat:

My girls have been great about their retainers - I think they can now appreciate when they look back at pictures and see themselves in braces! :) Brianna didn't want any pics taken while she had them on but we managed to snap a few.

Kacey's teeth were very pricey - before she could get the braces on she had to have a procedure done because she had a tooth growing in her palette - they had to cut in to get the tooth and put a chain on it, then slowly pull it down into place. :p She was great about the whole thing. I was the one cringing

Lisa - the passports were going to cost $300?? I didn't think we paid that much for ours but that was about 5 years ago. I'll have to bend your ear on places to stay in Aruba.

I can sympathize with the cost - we didn't have dental insurance on our plan and had to pay for both out of pocket :rolleyes2

Good luck with the new job - hope you get it. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Yep, it was going to cost like $97.00 per passport. Might have been slightly less for Alexa but still, would rather have the spending money right now! :yay:

I never thought Alexa needed braces all that bad to begin with but I must say they look really nice! She only had them on for 18months but of course that does not make them any cheaper! :guilty: Our insurance paid for $1000.00 and that was it!
That helped of course but I HATED writing that check every month! :sad2:

DS was told he'll need braces. I keep saying is there anything we can do now to help them. We have to wait for the babies to fall out first. ACK.

Lisa, I LOVE Hawaii. We're torn betwen HI and WDW every year. They're so different, but soooo great. Where are they staying?

I definitely will be laughing out loud with Janet's book. I remember riding the NYC subway and a loud guffaw would just pop out.
