DD12 draws a mean Mickey...

Ducky Williams was on our cruise in Apr '07. He had a class/talk about how to draw and taught us how to draw Mickey. I thought mine turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. On that same cruise we went to a seminar type thing he was putting on and he raffled off some of the drawings he was doing while talking. DD ended up winning his sketch of Donald- DH's favorite! We had it framed with a pic of DD and Ducky holding the sketch. It has to be one of our favorite things we have ever gotten on the cruise and we didn't have to pay extra for it!!!!!!

combination of both- she definitely did not inherit my lack of artistic genes - but, years ago at WDW, DH -darling husband, or some other "d" word depending on the climate at our house...If you're lurking - luv ya John! picked up a book on how to draw Mickey and how to draw Winnie the Pooh. Maggie appropriated them earlier this year and has been working on full size poses.

That's awesome!

Mine picked their talent for drawing Mickey at Disney Quest, and do a pretty good job of it. But the other characters (apart from Minnie) are a lot tougher, and even I have a tough time getting them right.

You know, it's stuff like this that makes the extra money for a Disney Cruise sooo worth it. I couldn't tell you much of anything that happened on our Carnival Cruise apart from some of the amazing ports, but with DCL my favorite days are always at sea. You'd swear that you're the only person on the ship the way you're treated there, and you always walk away with awesome stories about things that happened while you were on it.

Knowing Maggie, she'd think Dapper Dude was quite the compliment. She still enjoys kickball with the guys, basketball and can hold her own at Guitar Hero. She plays lacrosse and even though she has to play no-contact girls rules, she really wishes she could suit up with the boys and play full on contact... Give her a can of root bear and she could probably make a good showing in a belching contest too...

As I'm typing this, she asked if she could borrow a small bag to pack her make-up...

I liked the guy at Beaches and Cream that could draw a Mickey profile out of ketchup. I can only draw if a ruler is involved.

So DD2 decided that 5:30am was a good wake-up time this morning. That of course woke up DD7. DH got up early yesterday, so my turn this morning! Ugh! Wish I drank coffee...

I finished the door magnets last night. They all turned out except one. It was a Nemo design that I thought was really cute. Since I didn't have any more magnet paper, I redid it on regular paper and cut out the original one to make a magnet frame. We'll see. DD2 is REALLY into Nemo all of the sudden. Every time I turn around she's asking "Nemo? Dori?" You should have seen her at the aquarium at SeaWorld, running from glass to glass pointing, "Look! Dori!" Unfortunately, they didn't have any clown fish.

So I popped in the DVD for the 100th time this week and she's lounging in front of the TV waiting for the sun to come up. I decided to jump on the DIS and see if I could catch the early morning pirate run.

The computer is in DD2 bedroom here, so all these late night and naptime runs are hard for me.

I've been trying to convince my DM that I'm not crazy. Not sure I'll win that one... But yesterday when I was frantically trying to recreate all our door magnets, I posted a request on the door magnet board. I could find ones for everyone except DD7 and me. Within an hour, someone posted two Mickey heads - a princess and a minnie - for us with our names. Now everyone in the family has their own special one created just for them. I was sooooo touched! I told my Mom, "See? These are really nice people and I'm not weird to want to prepare and have fun with this cruise. There are lots of other folks just like me!!!!!"

I LOVE FINDING NEMO! I teach an Oceans unit in the early Fall to my 4th graders and then when they earn their class reward for good behavior, I show the movie and we look for evidence of the Ocean Zones. It's surprisingly accurate.......another reason I love Disney!

My girls and their BFs have been giving me some looks, when I showed them all the FE stuff, My DD in NYC and her BF are working on theirs as well......we're almost there!!!

Just wanted to give out a little Florida update:

For anyone down here who might have internet access, and is interested in the launch, the shuttle has about a 50/50 chance of going off today. So plan your day accordingly!

For the rest of us, they're forecasting a mere 40% chance of rain for Saturday, which is basically right with typical Florida weather during this season. In other words, the chances of it raining a ton when we leave isn't all that great. We might get a shower, but chances are pretty good that we'll have a party outside. Of course, Florida weather is unpredictable, but there's nothing to worry about just yet. Knock on wood!

Oh! And there's nothing in the tropics, either, so that alone makes me happy. No hurricanes means no going all the way to Miami to get on the cruise, again.

Will do! I've got something going on in my throat, but I want it to beat me up now so that I'm not sick when we get on the cruise. Bring it on! I could use the bed rest, anyway.

And by the way, why isn't soccer a winter sport? It's, like, a hundred in the shade down here, and still they insist on having games in the summer!
