OK--- I have to ask. What are cheese curds?????? :confused3

If you google cheese curds you will find pictures. Here is part of the Wikipedia article on cheese curds: Cheese curds are little-known in locations without cheese factories, because they should ideally be eaten within hours of manufacture. Their flavor is mild with about the same firmness as cheese, but has a springy or rubbery texture. Fresh curds squeak against the teeth when bitten into, which some would say is their defining characteristic.

If any of you have a Culver's frozen custard restaurant near you they should have deep fried cheese curds. Culver's originated in Sauk City, Wisconsin which is about 30 minutes northwest of Madison. They are now found all over the country. REALLY good frozen custard!

Wow never heard of deep fried cheese curds....but my in laws love to take the boys to cheese factories. However they do not enjoy the curds....they just call them squeeky cheese.. I am thinking the deep fried ones sound intersting...do you dip 'em in marinara or something?

If it works out, my grab bag items would be rare DCL related things. If it doesn't work out, it will be things from Maryland.

Crabs, Orioles, black eyed susans (my favorite :)) ???
OMG, Wegmans . . . we used to live in Rochester, NY and I just LOVED Wegmans. A little pricey, but oh, what a store! When friends and relatives would visit from out of town we would actually (I kid you not) take them to Wegmans as part of our little hometown tour thing! We've lived here in Duluth, GA for 7 years and I STILL miss Wegmans. Publix and Kroger just don't compare!

Our older daughter and husband live in Rochester and that was one of our first things to see on a visit, the gourmet Wegmans. I was impressed.

I was wondering the same thing. When you say curd here I think cottage cheese. Why do you refer to it as squeeky cheese?

Did I read somewhere that the grab bag amount for Sunday's meet was $20-ish?

Is it cheating if our grab bag is Disney themed because we're from Orlando? :) ::MickeyMo:earboy2:

I think we would all love that! Yes, you're right about the $20 amount....:goodvibes

We also had an oddly mediocre Disney experience. But we've since shrugged it off as being the B Team, since all the A Teamers who we've known from various other visits were off on vacation at the same time. After Carnival even a B Team cruise sounds lovely. :)

We've been on 7 DCL cruises.........never had a bad one......last's year Wonder was even a home run..........some servers have been better than others, etc. but we always come back for the evening entertainment and the good times!!!:cloud9:

They are the squeaky delicious fresh chunks of cheese before they are pressed into hard cheese.

I had no idea what they were until I went to school in the midwest and the parents of Wisconsin students would drive them down.

There's a Wegman's about 30 minutes from me, but I haven't been to it yet.

Hi all!

I'm surprised lurked a bit at post 80 - and fully expected to have to catch up with a few pages....

If you have a stateroom listed on the DCL site, is it fair to assume that's your stateroom even if you had a GTY just a few hours earlier?

If so, I'm a little shocked, but we were upgraded from a cat 6 to a cat 4! We've never been upgraded before, but I had my finger crossed after I saw that there were no more cat 6es to book as of this afternoon!

I'm a little hesitant, though, because it shows:

Ship Accommodation: Stateroom #: 8576
Category 06: Deluxe Stateroom w/ Verandah

8576 is definitely a cat 4, though. Hmmmmm.

8576 is a cat 4 - the link above is a review of the room - it was the only review I could locate. You might also want to send Magic3forme a PM as they stayed in that room last year according to my search.

Are the boards slow for anyone else???:confused3

Heard of Wegman's from the boards but have never seen one in person.

We have Kroger and Randalls/Safeway - I really really wish we had a Whole Foods close by!

BTW, I'm about to pick up my car........:cheer2:
