July 18 2009 Tortola - Part 2!

We are planning on going the day we get off the cruise. I haven't purchased tickets yet. On our last cruise we went straight from the port to Magic Kingdom and we still didn't have our land legs back yet. I was more nauseated on land than on the ship with a hurricane!! I didn't want to have to do something if we weren't feeling up to it. We are also stayng at the Radisson!

We did that 2 years ago. I thought we would be ready to go back to our WDW resort by noon, but we ended up staying until 6 PM. My kids had a great time.We got coupons for a few dollars off from Shirley [The Perfect Gift]. She was fun to talk to also.

Oh - like one with deck plans? That would be awesome!!!!! I would love it.

So, I guess we should wait to put the FE gifts out until at least Sunday, in case anyone upgrades at port? WIll that work? That way we can get word out to most of the group.

Anybody know what the West Texas Intermediate Fuel price closed at today? (June 17)?

When we booked we paid the fuel surcharge and the only way we'll get it back is if the price is below $70 a barrel today. I was watching the general crude oil prices and it was around $70.46 -

If it's below 70, I'll get my fuel surcharge credited as an onboard credit. $154!!!! If not - they take it all!

Unfortunately it looks like it closed at $71.03. I disagree with the way DCL is handling this - but not much we can do....

Good idea. Never thought of that. Some non-Dis'er is probably going to get some nice stuff, it's inevitable.

I had one of those days too. I had less than 5 mintues to go in cleaning up our snack table and fire alarm went off also. We didn't think it was real, but since the test was the day before we had to of course treat it like a real fire. Went outside in the rain and waited. A fire engine, looked at us, and drove by. After several minutes someone called the fire dept. to see if they were coming to check out the building. They never received the signal. [I feel safe.]This took 40 mintues.

For my morning class, today is the last day until mid Sept. I need a break from this class. I will teach one night a week through the summer but it doesn't require me to prep, I just show up. It is run like a tutorial. And it is usually light in the summer so I can surf the net or read. Not a bad gig.

Ok, so I just found out that my DD's BF never got a passport! She's accused me of telling her he didn't need it!So I emailed my TA to double-check.......anyone else on our trip w/o passports?

I found out today I'm getting a promotion. We have acquired another school and are taking over July 1st. Besides being a lead teacher I'm going to be in charge of the preK program. I was a little shocked because i had missed so much work being sick i was sure my name had been taking off the list of possibles for that job.

At this point, I'm just living weekend to weekend, waiting for the next friday to finally make it here.... but now that we're under 1 month away, I have something even better to look forward to. I'm so excited for this cruise, it definately can't get here soon enough.

this question has been asked before but I don't think we ever came to a decision. We could easily split the list into days, maybe ending on Friday.

Saturday morning, after dropping us off at port with the luggage, the guys are returning the rental cars and taking the rental car shuttle back to port.

My vote would be to keep it loose rather than assign specific days. One of the things I'm most looking forward to about this vacation is the LACK of schedules to be kept. Assigning days would sort of defeat that. Plus, I like the idea of not knowing when some little goody will show up in my FE from one day to the next. If it were based on a schedule, that element of surprise would be diminished a bit.

Now, having said all that, I should also say that this is my 1st time participating in a FE so I have no direct experience in how it plays out. If you don't assign specific days, do you end up getting overwhelmed with gifts all on one day? Is that the reason to try to control it?

Wednesday, June 17, 2009: NYMEX West Texas Intermediate Crude Oil for July delivery closed up $0.56 at $71.03 per barrel.

6/08/09 $68.09 was the closing price - will that help?
