Ok, so it looks like a good number of us plan to do the ferry run to the Baths early on and then the "pub crawl" later on Tortola port day....I think we need a charter that would take us to the Baths and then on to the other festivities.........who knows who we should contact????:love::banana::love::banana:

When you find out the particulars, please let me know. We have to take the girls to the Dolphin swim in the morning and with DCL we don't get back until 1pm. Would it be at all possible to join just for the afternoon to soggy dollar???

If you signed up with AAA Cutomer Appreciation Disney Sail, I was told that you couldn't get the Visa credit. Not the first thing I was told incorrectly my this agent. (Never again.) Let me know if you get different info.

I like the suggested slogan too. Pretty impressive on your parent's reaching 50. Congratulations to them. Very special.

I like that slogan too!! So I'm going with that one! Thank you so much 3princessmommy (and thank you for answering all my questions!!)Yes it is pretty impressive, my aunt and uncle are also going with their clan - and they are celebrating their 50th as well! So you might see a bunch of us in similar shirts. There's going to be over 30 of us!

I don't think we signed up for the appreciation disney sail, how would I know that?

Went shopping today with dd and we bought new clothes for the cruise!!! :cheer2:

There is another really good cruise site (think critic) that is really good if you are on any other line except for Disney (wait, is there really any other line LOL?)

Here is some info I was able to get from there:

We chartered Gary for day sail to Jost Van ****. Had a great time.
Contact is:
www.kuralu.com
Cell-284-499-1313
Office-284-495-4381

Several people seem to say he is very good and they have used him.

Here is another one:
Bolongo Bay Resort is on St Thomas.

Contact Julie at Patouche in Tortola. They will often do private charters and there are many different snorkeling areas they could go to.

http://patouche.com/

Several people also seem to say she is very good and they have used her.

Hope this helps...

Are you getting your tips paid? Getting an OBC from AAA? Did they tell you there an AAA representative that will be on board? Did they tell you about an AAA reception? These are some of the things included with the appreciation sail.

I just don't understand why my OBC is coming from AAA not Disney so why can't I get the OBC with my Disney Visa since we used it to pay for the whole trip? I should call Disney. It seems like the person who my AAA person contacted is no longer working for AAA group. And that's who we got the info from.

My local agent is not much better. It's a good thing I have a little experience cruising with Disney and the DIS boards. It's never a good sign when the agent says "I'm learning so much from you." :sad2: I was also told I could add my DS at any time but if I canceled him out of the reservation they would have to move us to a smaller cabin. And they still have me listed as requesting a dining table for 2 which there are none. Unreal.

We booked trhough Dreams Unlimited and were told that our rate was not subject to the $50 OBC from Disney Visa either. I still don't understand why really. :confused3 The only thing that I can figure is that Dreams pre-books a block of cabins at the very beginning, so the original booking is the Travel Agent, not me. Then when we get put into the cabin, our transaction is entirely with the Travel Agent and not with Disney, so it doesn't trigger the OBC. Of course, that would make sense except that I do get the 6 months interest free on the Disney Visa, so obviously somewhere in the system it is recognized that I have booked and paid for a DCL cruise vacation....:sad2:

But frankly right now, I have much more to worry about than an OBC :headache: and I'm not going to let anything annoy me on my vacation! :thumbsup2

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Just bought a new car!!!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I hope this works out okay. It's the first time I've ever purchased a car sight-unseen. :scared1::scared1:

Kampala is a Right-hand-drive country, so we need a RHD car. We tried to buy one from someone leaving this summer, but they were all so old - 1993, 1995, 1998 - that I didn't feel comfortable. So our only other option was to import one directly from Japan. So we got the names of a couple of importers that people had used before with good results and searched for vehicles.

We settled on a 2005 Toyota Landcruiser Prado. It looks nice from the pictures - pearl color and beige upholstery. We negotiated via instant messenger with the sales rep! (Wow! the wonders of modern technology! ;))

So now, we just need to get the paperwork done and it should be on a ship headed for Mombasa, Kenya by mid-June. Keep your fingers crossed!!! We won't actually see the car until we get there in mid-August and it can finally clear customs. :thumbsup2

Looks like business is picking up for the car companies. Good luck on the new car.:woohoo:

I did not get the OBC credit either - not even the one that DU was advertising if you booked with them. They said it was because they pre-booked the rooms, so I was not eligible for the OBC since my rate was cheaper. I figured they knew what they were talking about - so I just accepted it.

JUST FYI - if we are going to get Florida rates, and if Disney keeps the same pattern they have had, ours should be announced later this week. I'm hoping to be able to add a person AND upgrade our cabin if (and when) they are announced. I'll keep us posted...

I just hope the pirates stay away.

Hey everyone! hope y'all are having a good weekend. Went down to Charlotte yesterday to do some shopping. Since I've been sick I've lost a ton of weight and everything I have is to big. Bought the cutest bathing suit and a few other things. Today we are shopping for shoes and trying to stay out of the rain.

Hi July Tortolian cruisers.

I didn't know if you guys had heard about the fire at Mountain Top in St. Thomas.

Here's a link:

I was so looking forward to a banana daquiri and that view!

.

That is sad. The first cruise I ever took we had an island tour and one of our first stops was there. Even though it was 9 AM, my best friend and I decided that we had to try one of thos daquiris. We decided to split one so we would just get a taste because we didn't drink in the AM. It didn't take long until my head was spinning. It packed a powerful punch. Our DHs still laugh about it.

Congrats on the new car. I can't get over all the things you are doing and working on this cruise and finding time to be on the boards. WOW!:dance3:

ARRRGGG!!! It's raining and thundering!!! Maggie's birthday and party is today. She planned to take 4 girls swimming and then all of the families (plus more) meet back here for crawfish and bbq.

We're brainstorming plan B - manicures! crawfish and bbq - is still on - just eating inside.
