Okay, I am keeping this list for my benefit here, more than for anyone else. Here's is who is planning on going to lunch on Thursday at noon for a mini-meet after we have sailed:

Seaulater-2
Butterbear-2
Nzdisney-2
Tinkerbell29-3

Just an FYI, you are NOT committed to lunch, just cuz I have your name (actually I will hunt you down if you don't show up pirate: ), but I need to give them an idea of how many will show up at one time so they can plan an area for us accordingly.

This is a casual lunch, anyone is welcome to attend!

I checked with our TA today because we still didn't get our travel documents. She verified that they have been sent (according to DCL), so hopefully tomorrow!

I have a question. How do you check in and board the ship? I've done all the online forms and printed off what we needed to sign. Is it like checking into a hotel? None of us have ever been on a cruise before I just want to make sure we don't screw anything up. Can we check in at the hotel we are staying at even if we did not book it through DCL? Thanks!

Hi. My Mom and I will be on this cruise with you all. We're from Virginia. I'm up in Northern VA near Washington DC and she's in Richmond. We fly out of Dulles on the 17th just in time to make it to the port in Barcelona on the 18th.

I'm on vacation for the summer as I teach Government & Economics to 13 years olds during the school year.

We've cruised before on other lines but this is our first Disney cruise and everyone says it will be the best of all.

Mom and I just became DVC members last December and we're using our points.

We'll be in cabin #2630

We would like to sign up for the lunch meet & greet.

My kids and adorable little GKs are so sad that they aren't coming along but be will be together in December in DisneyWorld.

Barbie - welcome! Glad to have you and your mom cruising with us! How exciting to book the trip so close to travel - no long wait! I'll add you to the "who's traveling" list - you can "meet" the rest of us by following the link from the first post.

Any other ideas on where to get "No Jet Lag". We do not have a whole foods store or a wild oats store anywhere near where I live. Any ideas would be welcomed!

Linda,
Please put the 2 of us down for lunch on the 19th in Lumiere's. I have a spa appt. earlier that morning, but would love to enjoy a relaxing sit down meal before the hecticness of excursions starts. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Getting ever closer :dance3:

Sandy

We still don't have our cruise docs either. I have been home all day too.

WHERE ARE YOU UPS???

I guess if I don't get them tomorrow I will call dcl. My sil got hers a couple of days ago and they live in Dallas. I got several items marked off my list today. YEA!!

Can't wait to meet everyone!

Kathleen

Try either magellan.com or travelsmith.com. I've seen it in one of these online stores. GINA

Welcome Barbie and mom! I'll add you to the lunch list! And your friends are right--the Disney Cruise will be the best cruise you have taken! And you will be hooked! We are DVC members also. Have been members since 1994!

See you soon.

Hi

Wow, more people join in, that is great as the cruise might be full soon!

8 More days for working :cool1:

Today we are taking our daughter Olivia to hospital for new equipment and she is looking forward to.

Have a nice day.

Thanks for the welcome. Actually we booked back in March but I had no idea about these blogs until my daughter (another Disney Mom) told me about it. This is the first time I've ever been on a board like this.

I enjoyed reading your blog. About the travelers checks, I got:teacher: them two years ago on my trip to Portugal and found them expensive to cash in for Euros and some stores and BANKS wouldn't even cash them. A merchant told me that there are so many counterfeit travelers checks out there that they don't want to deal with them. That's when I started using my credit card and borrowed Euros that my traveling companion had. I brought my travelers checks home and cashed them here. What has been your experience with travelers checks in Europe? Better than mine?

Whenever we've gone to mainland Europe (from my home in England), we've always taken some cash and put the rest on Visa / Mastercard. We've had no problems with this.

Thanks for the info, Shaun.

FYI - I have found memories of England. I was a part of the "American" invasion of college kids that came over the summer of '70 because of the "English" invasion of rock stars to America. I loved it so much, I returned after graduating from college the next year and worked in London (as a temp) and back-packed my way through Europe. :hippie:

Did you use American Express travelers checks? And were they in Euros or in dollars? I was planning to get some Amex Euro checks since we have a couple of private tours that need to be paid for in cash & have heard from other cruisers that finding ATM's has been difficult. Maybe I will just get Euros in light of what you said...?

Welcome to the thread, Barbie!

I see all the mention of "No Jet Lag" and I also saw an aroma therapy product for avoiding the dreaded jet lag from minimusbiz.com. Its name is "stay alert" and I guess you just smell it? I haven't tried it, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone is interested! There are also others on there for insomnia relief, hangovers (lol), etc.

Talk to you all soon! :grouphug:

I'm not bringing any travelers checks. I figure Euros are easier to deal with and you can always get more right on the ship.

I did get American Express Travelers checks but they weren't in Euros. I was traveling with my sister-in-law, who is a special agent with the Dept of Defense and she travels a few times a year to Europe for business and for pleasure as she has family in Germany. She purchases Euros before she leaves and then just uses credit cards from ATM machines while on her trips. That's what I'm going to do. Today, I've been on the phone to find out which of my credit cards has the best deal (interest rate on cash advance; exchange rate charge, etc) and that will be my first choice.

Does anyone know if the ship has ATM machines that use credit cards?:hippie:
