July 18, 2007 07-18-07 Med Cruise

Well, two weeks from now we will have already arrived in Dublin Ireland and have been there all day. We are planning on two days in Ireland before flying to Barcelona first thing Tuesday morning. On Tuesday, plan on spending the day sightseeing again in Barcelona since our daughter hasn't been there. We have a 5 p.m. tour with Edgar at Barcelona Glides (Segway Tours). Since we enjoyed it so much with him in May, we are taking our daughter on it this time. Something she really wants to do.

Then Wed. a.m. we plan on going to the Chocolate Museum to get my chocolate fix! Had it booked with DCL, but for some reason they cancelled, so we are going to just do it on our own. (looking at the map, it is real easy to get to.) Then it will be time to board the ship!

YIPPEE! We've been off the Magic now 35 days and we will be back on the Magic in only 18 days! Can't believe we are headed back over to Barcelona to get on the ship.

Okay, housework and shopping to do!

I hope you will enjoy Dublin. I was there 2 years ago with a friend and we had a great time although we did find it to be quite expensive.

I also had the Chocolate Museum booked via DCL but this was cancelled and we too plan on doing this ourselves as we will be in Barcelona from the 15th. Have you seen the pictures on their website? It is amazing that they can make all these things out of chocolate (they wouldn't last long if I was around all day )

The flooding in Yorkshire is terrible and it seems like it will still take days to subside. Has your house been ok? Just keep thinking about the cruise and the sunny Med weather and hopefully that will keep you going.

Thanks Andrea. Our house held up against the weather thanks, though the celler was very damp. We were just totally cut off for a while. Some roads are closed even now - and it's still raining...

On a lighter note - anyone making their own pirate costumes?

I could not teach teenagers I would probable superglue their mouths shut. My kids love the fact that I love Disney. This is probable because I always bring them something back when I go.

I'm not allowed to go another store between now and the 16th. Yesterday we went down to South Carolina to go to a mall in Greenville. Told my mom before we went that I was set clothes wise. Should have kept quite I ended up buying more clothing. Were going to have to book a seprate stateroom and ship things over if I'm not careful. Today we went to Best Buy I was looking at video cameras. I have one but on the last WDW trip it started to die. So I now have a new camera that I have to figure out in two weeks. The owners manual is the size of a dicitionary.

Refusing to think about terriost and what they do. Delta did e-mail us to tell us that we would have to go through security again when we get to Atlanta. Which is fine with me they can check everything I have. Besides that if someone wants to take over our plane my big burly brother can tackle him and I've got a huge needle full of enough insulin to do a normal person harm . No worries!

Sounds like I'm a little ahead of the game as I got our new digital camera back in March so I've had a little time to learn how to use it

I got the last of the official shopping done today - DS#1 has a new pair of shoes (actually two new pairs as they were Buy 1 pair, get a 2nd pair 1/2 off.

Since DH won't want to walk around suitcases for two weeks, I'm going to lay out my outfits this afternoon and make the official packing, do not change my mind, list of clothing to take... as soon as the last of my clothes are out of the dryer. I need to verify the times / days of our excursions - I know we have a few that will run up until or past 6 p.m., so that will actually make things a little easier for dining purposes - not having to worry about dressing for dinner. BTW, does anyone know if shorts are allowed in Topsiders for dinner? I know you can wear them for breakfast and lunch.

I was so excited to find so many messages on the thread this afternoon! It won't be long until we all start heading out. Who is leaving first? I know some of you are leaving early. We start our journey on Saturday the 14th. I told DH that I wish we were leaving on THIS Saturday!

Oh, I also scheduled the post office to hold our mail while we're gone... so that's two things off my list today! Shoes and Mail

I see your folks are from New Mexico - we have a short trip planned for Albuquerque 10 days after we get back from the Med. We've never been, but we're going for a reunion. I told my boss at work that this would be my post-vacation-trip that I need to wean myself off traveling for a few months

I think we have finally got our excursions worked out
Palermo: Were going to do this one on our own everything we want to see seems to be in walking distance.
Naples: Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri for families
Olbia: Costa Smeralda afternoon tour
Rome: Jumping back into eternal Rome
La Spezia: Pisa afternoon tour. Thought about doing VIP tour but mom and I would not be able to climb the tour.
Villefranche: Monaco, Monte Carlo and Eze
Marseille: Doing this one also on our own if we get off the ship.
Barcelona: Were going to use the tourist bus the afternoon we get there and jump on and off at the places we want to see.

A second meet sounds like a great idea that way we can be sure to meet everybody.

I know what you mean! I took two of the boys to Macy's the other night with me and spent 3 hours shopping for the 3 of them and myself. Needless to say, if I spend anymore money before we leave, DH will be leaving me home!

My family lives in Greenville, love the Greenville Mall!

We have 2 adults and oe 2-year-old (for whom they don't usually charge). We decided to go for the private tour after all. We are going to do the Chocolate Factory in Barcelona on our own since we have 4 days there (3 days before, 1 day after), we're doing La Cinta Beach & we are signed up for Day on the Farm in Sicily. I've heard great things about the Day on the Farm - even though it is an all-day excursion, it seems pretty mellow & I think our little one will LOVE it as she loves animals and adored seeing the pigs and cows, etc at the recent county fair!

Is anyone else doing the Day on the Farm tour?

We are also doing La Cinta Beach and I currently have us signed up for the Day at the Farm. We are all confirmed for our two private tours in Naples and Rome. I think I am going to change Pompeii to Herculaneum on the Naples tour though since it is smaller and less crowded. I noticed people complaining about the Monte Carlo night and the Pirate Party. We had booked Palo for that night, and planned on going to the Party. We then changed and booked the casino instead of Palo, but now I am just going to cancel everything and wait to see if Disney is smart enough to change the night of the party...

Diana we are pratical neighbors. We live in Fletcher just north of Hendersonville. Are you flying through Atlanta to Barcelona? If so when we might be on the same flight. I've been told if I spend another dime on this trip my credit cards are being frozen literally.

We also enjoy room service breakfast, especially when we are in a hurry to get ready and go! Just give the delivery person $1 or $2 tip and they will deliver to your stateroom.

You will find a menu card for breakfast in your desk drawer. Just fill it out and place on your door the night before and breakfast will arrive at your appointed time. This will be a choice of items such as croissants, bagels, toast, cereals, juices, coffee etc.

You can go to itunes and find a podcast from Disney Cruise Line. Just go to "Itunes Store" (online) and type in at the search bar "Disney Cruise Line". You will see several choices. I found the "official" podcast from Disney Cruise Line for the Mediterranean cruise listed as #3. I hope this helps! I have downloaded it, but haven't listened to it yet. I think that it includes video as well. I plan to watch it on the flight over to Barcelona from the U.S.A.

I am wondering about this as well...our documents say we dock at 6:45 AM. Does this mean we need to get off the boat that early, or what time is "check-out"?
