I also recommend that you buy a one or two day pass for the double decker buses (barcelona tour buses, the ones with the "eye" on them). They are a hop on and hop off system and it is great. They have 3 lines (red, blue and green if I remember right) and the price includes all lines. It goes all through the city and covers just about everything.

Please tell us more about the bus -- where do you buy tickets and about how much did they cost? If you get on the red one, will it make a round trip and you can get back off where you started? Same for blue or green? I had read a little bit about the bus thing and we were thinking about doing that on the afternoon of the 17th. How late do they run and do they seem pretty safe in terms of if you're out a bit later than you expected?

I notified our cc companies about our overseas travel and also inquired about foreign transaction fees. One of my cards is 2% and the rest are 3%, so that helps me know which one I'll be using! They all also told me to make sure I have a PIN because they have found more and more European merchants are requiring a PIN along with signature / ID when using credit cards.

We bought our tickets the first time we got on the bus. We bought 2 day passes and they cost 23 euros each for adults. You could also buy them ahead of time, but whatever stop you get on, you just buy them from the tour guide as you step on the bus.

You can get on, off, switch lines, get off where you started, or get off at a totally different place. The lines basically go in a loop, and then at some point in each loop there is a connecting point for the next loop. So they all connect to each other.

The buses were running from about 9 a.m. in the morning until 8 p.m. at night. We were on the buses til the end and then got off at the Christopher Columbus statute and then walked to our destination. We always felt very safe. Many tourists there. I didn't carry a purse or shoulder bag or anything, just our cameras and a couple bags of purchases we had made down on the waterfront and in Las Ramblas.

Also, the thing I really liked about it was it gave you a great overview of the city, especially from the top. Just a warning though: WEAR SUNSCREEN!

We will be doing it again with our daughter, as it is the easiest way to get around the city.

That's great about the main dining - we also have main dining, mostly because we don't like to eat quite so late - this gives us a little time before crashing to digest.

We have most things automated but the few that aren't will come in the beginning of the month, so we're all set! Hooray!

Ok now I know I have lost my mind. We have 12 computer made signs and 9 signs I made by hand using scrapbook stuff that is 21 signs. At least they are not all going up at once. Now I've got to take them to Kinkos and get them laminated. I wasn't able to print on magnetic paper. My printer wouldn't cooperate. I'm going to use those magnetic strips that is a magnet on one side and tape on the other. I'm assuming this would be ok. I've still got to print and iron on the design for our t-shirts.
We were able to get resrvations at Palo for dinner!!!! Hopefully we will be able to get tea or brunch once we are on the ship.

Thanks so much for the link and the information. I printed out the "map" today and read about each of the stops to highlight the ones I think we might be interested in getting off at. We'll get there mid-day on Tuesday and can board the Magic mid-day on Wednesday, so I think we'll end up just doing a one-day pass, although I could easily do 2-days as there are so many things I would like to see.

I know I want to see Sagrada Familia - the pictures I have seen have been so beautiful that I can only imagine how it will look "live and in person."

Anyone know where the "Magic Fountain" is that other DISers have had meets at?

Cindy the Magic Fountain is located in the MontJuic area you can take the blue line of the TMB to get there. It is near the old Olympic stuff.

But don't worry, when you will on the Cruise and first thing go to Rocking bar to book the Palo as I am sure that there will have some cos some people don't have an internet to book it.

Funny, my disney, my booking reference I can see that there was high tea available as I want to booking for 4, no only for 2! As we already booked for ourselves but want to book it for parent in law. I checked my their reference that there is dinner palo available and no high tea.

Both reference are different show! very strange! That was lunch times today.
