Good Morning

Lissa

As I went to Florida three times and it was long journey, I was wearing very casual clothes like jogging suit, trouser and tee shirt and bring light jacket well as sometime cool when on the flight. I think your flight will be long journey too, remember drink plenty water too. You will have jetlag!

To All:

As the door signs, I already made up two and I will make up for in law soon and print it out with magentic papers.

Also I bring something 'scottish' very small gifts for you.

About Villefrance, I have booking Monaco, Monte Carlo and Eze for in law and I wish I come along with them as it sound good:thumbsup2 But I already booked Monaco, the Marina and the little train. But maybe I might swap over with father in law as I am not keen about Evening Casino. Fil is keen to see Evening Casino as I want to stay on the Cruise at evening, I heard at evening that there will be something on. I don't want to miss that:idea:

I just wait and see when the times near!!

Palo -

Also I checked inlaw My Cruise and saw that one cancel for Evening and I booked it for inlaw.

Hi Lissa,

What kind of door signs are you making? Sounds interesting..

Susan

Anything, sound fun!!:thumbsup2

Last year, I made up one tartan and another one was Castaway.

This year, another Scottish photo of my kids with some disney pictures.

Going to make another one for in law, think Tartan with 40th Anniversary and 60th Birthday:rolleyes:

Print out with Magetnic paper that can stick on the door.

So my question is this -- our flight leaves at 8 p.m Eastern which is like 2 a.m. Barcelona time. I'm thinking we should try to sleep on the first part of the flight so that as we get nearer to Barcelona, we can be waking up a couple of hours before our flight lands which would be about 5 a.m. our time / 11 am. their time. Is that right? Or should we just sleep whenever and sort it out when we get there?

How long is your flight? Just wonder.

Has anyone read reports about getting euros at the BCN airport? Just wondering what their rate has been / ease of exchange. Are you all getting travelers checks or just going with the old ATM card?

Here is 1.43 euro for one pound. I am not sure about what the price for euro at BCN airport, make try on an internet to find out? I bring the euros and will use my card at ATM.

If I knew how to put pictures up I'd post the signs I made but I'm not sure how. I've made @ three to stay up one welcome sign and one that is similiar to the mastercard commercials. I also have a mickey for each of us with our names on them. I have an at sea sign and a sign for when we are at a port but we have decided not to get off. I also did a formal night sign and a sign for the excursions we are taking. We also have a magnetic dry erase board to leave messages on. The door may not be big enough. As for little gifts I'm bringing something that is made local here in the mountains. As for sleeping on the plane I'm just going to sleep when I can and let it all work out when we get there.

I've been debating whether to do door signs or not - I think I'll go read the Door Sign thread to get some ideas and instructions :)

Here's what I did today: Checked Delta's website for luggage restrictions (2-bags per person, up to 50 lbs each; 1 carry-on, up to 40 lbs). Called health insurance company for replacement ID cards and asked about medical reimbursement should we need care while on the ship or out of the country. Made yet another list of things to do like getting new shoes for Nathan whose feet have suddenly grown - he wore the same pair of shoes since last August, so I can't complain. Gotta check our cell phone plan for international calling and also buy extended days fish food.

My count-down on my office door will say 17 when I leave this afternoon - which means only 17 more work days til vacation! :yay:

Yesterday I officially started the collection basket for all the odds and ends that I need to have available for packing. I found our lanyards that I bought (Disney College Program ones that I got at the outlet store near WDW), and the two boxes of Tide powder that I brought home from our last two DVC stays (I always take my own liquid detergent and had forgotten that I had brought back the powder specifically to have for the cruise). So now I don't have to worry about the liquid Tide in my luggage unless I decide to take one of them with me anyway - guess it depends on how much room I have.

Ok I must be going nuts. I know someone posted a list of all of us going but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know where it is posted? Thanks.

Isn't there any laundry soap you can buy on the boat from one of those dispensers in the laundry facilities? Usually it is provided at hotels & I've never packed laundry soap before!

When we fly transatlantic I usually sleep the entire way from the US to home. I just ignore the meals and stuff that they try to throw at you. Once we land I try really hard to stay awake until the evening. It's the only way I can avoid jetlag. But I think everyone deals with it differently.

I've got a few questions that I wonder if some of you more experienced cruisers can help me out with...

First, I've read on some of the boards about DISers bringing little gifts for their fellow DISers. Is this something that everyone does? Like what types of things would I bring?

I've also read about people decorating their doors. Does everyone do this, or can I skip it? What would I bring - or can I buy something onboard?

I've cancelled a few of my Disney shore excursions in favor of doing the day ourselves or getting a private guide. I'm concerned about over-scheduling our 2-y-old DD, but then I figure with a private tour we can take it at our own pace, right? If we schedule an 8-hour private tour, we could come back early or ask them to just drive around if DD falls asleep, right? I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance...??? I can't imagine staying on the boat when we could be out exploring Europe! :dance3:

We also decorate our door! Just remember, new rules went into effect on Disney Cruise Line in April or May this year. You are no longer allowed to tape, glue, or adhere anything to your doors. It was costing them a fortune in cleaning and re-painting.

The only thing approved to be attached is MAGNETIC SIGNS. You can but 8 1/2 x 11 magnetic paper at Walmart or at your local office supply store. They generally come in packages of 5.

We've picked up some little bits and pieces in Oxford, but having seen Cindy's list we're going to have to go back and get twice as many!

I've also read about people decorating their doors. Does everyone do this, or can I skip it? What would I bring - or can I buy something onboard?

I've also made us a door sign, just one for each cabin. They have on our names, a map of the med and some disney pictures... Haven't finished them yet though.

Yes, you can get it - I just don't want to if I have room to take it :) And mostly I don't want to take a chance of them running out when I really need to do laundry to get home! :laundy:

Hi Susan

School will be over by two weeks time on 29th June then 2 weeks after that flight to Barcelona:yay:

Yes, we will meet at Promenade Lounge one hour before fire drill on 18th July.

Ok just finished typing up our packing list it is almost six pages long. Mom laughed and asked if i included the kitchen sink. I did a really detailed list I usually don't but am afraid we will forget some important things like meds and won't be bale to get them.
Question is anyone bringing two way radios? We though about them but were not sure they were necessary.

Hi Lissa-

I don't think we'll be bringing a 2-way radio with since we'll be together most of the time (and I don't have one) but I do know that my sister travelled with her husband, triplet 10-year-olds, mother-in-law, brother-in-law & sister-in-law to Ireland last year & they used walkie-talkies & said it worked fabulously for them!

Susan - got you added on the list! Looks like we have about 24 DIS families going! As someone else mentioned, we'll be having a DISMeet in the Promenade Lounge an hour before safety drill. We'll have a chance to "meet and greet" as a group then. I think some others are pre-meeting at various common hotels or in airports for those who have the same flights. I know that other groups have met at the Magical Fountain? I don't know any details about where it is or what happens there, but I read it on a couple of trip reports.

I'm looking fwd to putting faces to names after these weeks (and months) of hanging out here with y'all. We'll be in Barcelona this time four weeks from now.

Hi Cindy,

Can you add DH, Jarrett 32 to our info?

We will be in room 2524.

Thanks!

I made out our clothing list on an excel spreadsheet, my dh things I have officially lost it!:rotfl: I am such a visual person and I am afraid I am going to forget something if I don't stay organized and have it all written out. Plus I am trying to figure out if I need to do some more shopping.
Have a great day, Kathleen

Thanks for the recent post of the updated DIS list. I've been doing a lot of reading but not much posting. I'm finding the info on the trip reports section of the boards quite useful and I've re-booked a couple of shore excursions based on the initial cruisers' feedback.

The packing thing is a dilemma, since we'll do some internal Europe flights that will only allow one checked bag per person, 20kilos max. So we'll be packing LIGHT.

I'm also reading that there are some upgrades occurring in terms of cabins... will be interesting to see how full the ship is and how many children.

Keep the info flowing... the countdown is on!!!:cheer2:

I have not read through the whole thread but I will ask these questions anyway.

Has anyone been upgraded and if so what are the chances to be upgraded again?

What is the best way to get to the airport to the hotel? There are five of us flying out of JFK on Sunday afternoon 7/15.

Any excursions that we absolutley should do or not do?

Anything else that I should know?

Thanks,

Carl
