July 15, 2013- WONDER if a Mickey Bar will melt in Alaska?

from the last post.
in some cases even though cabins may be ready, all the luggage does not get delivered to them by the time the pools do open after the life boat drills. therefore if you have what u need in the carry on stuff u can take advantage of the pools. I think this is common for all cruises. on the super big ships this is common as there are many more passengers and tons more luggage to distribute. we are lucky the wonder is not super big but a really nice ship. was my first Disney cruise.

now one for the experts. will our cell phones work in Alaska? it's part of the u.s. and even on the water we will be very close to land as compared to floating around the carib.

cheers,

for the info, on the alaska cruise last year, the pools were open before the life jacket drill.

On all our other DCL cruises the pools have been open before lifeboat drill - but we've never cruised to Alaska before. We've never done it ourselves, but we've seen loads of folks in swimming right after boarding.

Although there are sometimes CM's around the pool areas, there aren't any actual lifeguards at the pools onboard.

Hope everyone is enjoying getting ready for the cruise - I'm looking at new (lighter) luggage at the moment so we can pack more stuff! :rotfl:

Hi all
Appears that those who have been on recent DCL cruises remember the pools being open before life boat drill and so it is. Just goes to prove that you cant always assume that the info u get from a personal cruise planner is correct. Wouldn't think that an Alaskan cruise rules would be any different than others. We'll find out sooner than later

hi all,
just for grins just called dcl and confirmed with my 14th personal cruise planner ship pools ARE open before lifeboat drill.
all take care and stay healthy

Hi all!! I guess I was in the right place for the fish extenders. Thanks for all the welcomes! My group consists of three rooms and we would all like to be involved. Should I put the info on here or will someone contact me? I can't seem to PM anyone until I've posted something like 10 times.

Thanks

Hi all,
Funny thing is how you are just wakeing up and you think you hear something you really don't want to hear. Bridge collapse on IS 5 the road we are or now more correctly were going to take from seattle to vancouver to get to the boat. Anyone else flying into seattle with thoughts of driving to vancouver? i'm sure there is more than just one way to get from there to there just not as easy. Suggestions from those who live in the area greatly appreciated.
all take care
cheers,
ducksquack

I took a look at the map of the area and it looks like there is an easy short way to detour around it. It's kind of funny that Google maps already shows that the bridge is gone. It's just north of Mt. Vernon, WA.

Hi- email me at azsheena at hotmail with your party's names, ages, and room numbers and I will add you all to the list!

Hi AZmermaid. I sent a request to join the FB page. I wasn't sure where to add my name so you knew it was me (Beth = juniedog)

Gotcha!

Yes, I try to keep the Gymboree spending under control- but man are their coupons good martketing! I have 2 friends who give my clothes for my DD, and that is a good thing- it keeps me in check! :rotfl:

Do you teach for TUSD? I have a good friend who teaches 1st grade there, but I know it's a big district and I have no idea what school!

Say a prayer for me......I fell and broke my right foot about a month ago and am in a huge boot. Have an appointment with a foot and ankle specialist at a clinic in Athens on June 13th to see how it is healing. If surgery is required then they will just have to wait until we get home from the cruise. Too many plans have been made and I am getting to be a pro with this boot!!!! DIL is a Magic Cruise Planner, so she has taken charge and arranged for handicap everything!!!! One good thing is that my packing will be lighter as I only have to pack one of each shoe!!!! Trip to West Point for our grandson's graduation went great and I had no problems with the foot and boot, so I am counting on that for the cruise also!:goodvibes

Hello fellow cruisers. We are a family of 4 from Vancouver. We have never cruised before and are so excited to choose Disney for our 1st cruise experience. I've been reading about the FE and would love to join!

There's me (Hazel), husband (Ron) and our 2 sons ages 4.5 (Hudson) and 2.5 (Levi) in cabin 6044. My mom and dad are in an adjoining room but they won't participate in the FE. This cruise was a gift to my mom for her 75th birthday and a thank you for all the hours of babysitting! I can email AZMermaid if required but I think this is the info needed to join the FE list.

BTW for those still deciding to fly into Seattle vs Bellingham, it's best to choose Bellingham since the bridge collapse on the I5 near Mt.Vernon has caused considerable traffic delays. You will already be facing a considerable wait at the border crossing, possibly 1 -2 hours in the summer months. Better yet, fly directly into YVR if you can. More Vancouver tips to come soon!

Time for travel, sorry but I just got your pm. Unable to reply bc I lack the minimum number of posts. Please pm me your email address if still need answers/have questions. Thanks, steve

Added- the list is official, updated and closed! 6 weeks from today we will be leaving on a jet plane!
