July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

Hi Cathy,

I did a little research on the cuise critic board. According to the information over there, Enterprise car rental has a location at the Crowne Plaza hotel in San Pedro. Then they have a shuttle to take you to the pier for $5 per person. Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Also, some people have mentioned a company at the airport called Supershuttle. Their phone number is 800-blue-van. The website is www.supershuttle.com. I don't know how much they cost but it wouldn't hurt to find out.

I think if you can use Enterprise, the drop off at the Crowne Plaza hotel appears to be the best bet because then you don't have to drive back to the airport.

Hope this helps out!

Thank you so much. Right now I am booked with thrifty car rental, but I def am going to check out enterprise. We land in Las Vegas and then are spending some time there before we drive across to Anaheim. How far is the drive. Any suggestions, we have 5 kids in the car. Any sights?
Then we are spending 5 days in Anaheim prior to the cruise. We will a vacation when we get onboard.
Thanks for the tips about supershuttle and enterprise.
And yes I am a doctor. Family Practice

Hey Cathy,

It takes about 4.5 to 5 hours to drive from Las Vegas to Anaheim as long as traffic isn't too heavy. We usually don't stop along the way, but with 5 kids you may need too. There isn't exactly any sights along the way that I think are worth stopping for. There is the largest thermometer in Baker, CA. It is surrounded by various eateries and gas stations. Baker is probably about 1 hour or so out of Las Vegas. You can also stop in Barstow, CA. Again, various eateries, gas stations and some shops. Bastow is about half way to Anaheim. There are also some other towns that you will pass through that you can stop at if you need to. Mos of the drive is very boring as it is drivig through the desert. I don't know what day you plan on driving to Anaheim, but I recommend that you avoid going on Sunday. That seems to be the busiest day to travel as that is when all those who came from California go back home.

I thought that you were a doctor from your username. My DH is a pediatrician.

Hello All

Well, I am still trying to get motivated to complete my door sign. I have the disney font, got some nice graphics (love these boards) now I just need to put it all together.

Here is a photo of our door for our last disney cruise (also Mexican Cruise).
DisneyCruise033.jpg

We sailed during Father's Day June 2005.

Anyone know how folks have made black ears on the door number at the top of the door?

so every cruise I have been on I have made a movie and every cruise, I've had some people I have met here on the board want to be in the movie, so I have started a thing where I interview people on the ship and they tell me how they like the trip. So if anyone would like to be in my movie let me know. I'll post the video of my last cruise when I get my computer fixed, i'm on my dad's computer right now

This is our second Disney cruise. We sailed on Wonder last September for a 4 night cruise and had so much fun, came home and booked this one a week later!
We ( myself, Mylinda, my husband, Marc, & our daughter Madeline 2 years old ) are also traveling with 2 grandmas, one grandpa, and one cousin- 12 years old. I found this website just last night!

Could someone fill me in on the abbreviations? I think I have figured it out, but I'm not sure...

Only 41 days until we sail!:cool1:

update on the leis for everyone who wants one. My friend let me know yesterday that the company they get the leis from aren't stocking them anymore. His boss said hopefully they find a new company, to get them from, but he on the bright side his boss is awesome I said I can take anything free since I can't get the leis if they don't find a company, maybe I can get some cool things the the fish extender gifts :cool1: :thumbsup2

Tink-This is awesome.
You have saved me so much time!
That is the coolest sign ever!!:thumbsup2
Could you make one for Grandma and Grandpa? Same everything except names are Jack and Brenda and state room is 7565. They may feel left out if their door is not as cool as ours. :goodvibes

Yup, you can get magnetic paper that goes right through your printer, I found some pretty cheap at Office Depot (glossy looks better than matte) or you can order it online.

I'd be glad to make you a sign as well, just send me a PM with names, stateroom number, and anything specific you want on the sign (like phrases, dates, and if you have specific images already picked out I can work those in too).
