July 13, 2008 - Cruisin' the Mexican Riviera

looking for advice about disneyland also.
We are staying at Residence Inn Maingate
I am still trying to figure out how to get to the port on Sun am.
I think I am dropping everyone at the port and returning the rental car to the airport and hopping a cab.
Any suggestions?????

Wow, I can't believe we are almost into the last month before the cruise. I have slowed down in my planning and feel I need to pick it up again. To reintroduce ourselves. There are four of us me, my DH, and two DDs (14, 10). This is our third Disney Cruise but our first out of CA. We met Carole and her family on the last cruise through this board and had a great time. As for our plans we are heading out to CA the week before the cruise to do the coast. We will be in San Diego for a couple of days, then up to Disneyland for a couple of days, and then we end in LA. Haven't figured out how to get the rental car back to the airport and then us to the port. I might have us go drop off the car and then get a limo to pick us up at the airport and takes us to the port.

We are up for the Meet N' Greet and would love some leis. On our last cruise we had everyone from the board meet up on the upper deck by the goofy pool during the sail away party. Most of us were wearing something with lime green on it so we could identify each other. Here is a picture of us at the sail away:

I did a lot of door magnets for our last cruise and I created them through PowerPoint and then just printed them on magnetic paper run through my printer. Here is a picture of our door from the last cruise:

For the pirate night magnet I was able to find bloody font that I downloaded and put into Microsoft. It gave it a neat effect. For the ship picture I just imported a picture I had from a previous cruise into PowerPoint, it worked great. Door decorating can be a lot of fun and it makes it easier to find your cabin. People did suggest that you put your cabin number on your magnets in case someone decides to move your magnet as a joke. Then it should be able to find it's way back to your door with the cabin number on the magnet. We never had a problem with this on our last cruise.

so, funny thing happened last night, I was talking to my mom about the cruise she isn't going because she always thinks titanic, but anyway she told me she was going to California on July 14th, I was totally suprised because she hates vacations, she is going with some of her friends for something

So, anyone know anyone who is 18-20 traveling? I know there will prob be some that don't post here, but just wondering

Hi everyone:)

I know for most of you this is kind of late, but we just booked to join you all on the cruise. This was a totally unplanned, surprise trip that my in-laws are treating us to. This is our 6th Disney Magic Cruise and our in-laws 2nd trip on the Magic

There are 7 of us in two cabins.

The inlaws - Karl-Heinz- 82, Gerda - 86 (& in a wheelchair) - celebrating 60 year's of Marriage
DW - Denise - 40 (but looks 29 ;) )
DH - Peter - 45 *turns 46 the day we disembark
DD - Jessica 9 *turns 10 the day we disembark ( DH and DD share the same Birthday)
DF - Alana 10 (Jessica's best friend)
DD - Kimberly - 6

Afterwards we are staying at the Grand California Resort for two days. We have never been to California nor Disneyland and are excited to try something new.

Our *rental child* Alana has never been on a cruise nor to California and her being able to join us on the trip is Jessica's gift from her grandparents - they paid for her too.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone.

Denise, Peter, Jessica, Kimberly & Alana

great to see more people, the more people the better

Hey everybody! Haven't posted in a little while, but glad to see so many new postings. Welcome to all of the newbies who have joined us. I am so excited for this cruise. Last weekend we went to Disneyland. We had a lot of fun but it was cold. We went with our friends who are also cruising with us. It was kind of a teaser trip for us! I would love to participate in the FE gift exchange and the Meet & Greet. I will pm DebT with out info. I also want our friends to join in too. I'm going to get them fish extenders. We are going to drive to LA the day before and stay in the Holiday Inn. I have recently heard that it is not exactly the best place to stay but the reservation is already made. We'll make the best of it. If anybody else is staying there let me know and maybe we can meet up. That is how Sujo and I first met on our last cruise. We all stayed at the Radisson in Florida and had a fun day together. I am in the picture that Sujo posted but am in the back row and am blocked by someone else's head (LOL).

For those going to Disneyland before or after the cruise, I recommend getting to the park as early as possible. You can get a lot of rides in if you go early. Also use the fastpass system and remember that you can use the fastpasses even after the time listed on them says. To the person staying at the Grand Californian Hotel, you're going to love it. It is a beautiful hotel that has direct access into California Adventure park. Have a great time!

Since you are familiar. We are dropping the rental cars off at the airport the morning of the cruise and we then have to get to the port. Any suggestions?
How far is the port from the airport? Taxi distance?
There are 10 of us, but we were going to drop everyone at the port before the airport so there are just 2 of us that have to get back to the port.
Thanks, Cathy

so I just want to get everyone else a little more excited about the tirp, by posting pictures from my last cruise on the magic

Hi Welcome aboard!!!

I tried the Princess Thread and it worked!!!  I ordered our fish extenders off of Ebay today also. Our girls get out of school this Friday the 6th! So hopefully I can start getting things together. On our Disney Mediterranean cruise last summer, My husband nor my oldest daughter got their luggage the entire trip. So we have learned we can pack light!!! They both got their luggage about a month after we returned home!

so, for the fish extenders and gifts, are we going to give people different days to do it or can we all pick and choose what days or nights

I think it's easiest if everyone chooses their own day/time to deliver their gifts. :)

Hi Cathy,

I am familiar with Disneyland but not with flying into the area. We have always driven ourselves since we are in Las Vegas. I will try and get some information for you. Do you already have a car rental company that you have booked?

PS - Are you a doctor?

Hi Cathy,

I did a little research on the cuise critic board. According to the information over there, Enterprise car rental has a location at the Crowne Plaza hotel in San Pedro. Then they have a shuttle to take you to the pier for $5 per person. Doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Also, some people have mentioned a company at the airport called Supershuttle. Their phone number is 800-blue-van. The website is www.supershuttle.com. I don't know how much they cost but it wouldn't hurt to find out.

I think if you can use Enterprise, the drop off at the Crowne Plaza hotel appears to be the best bet because then you don't have to drive back to the airport.

Hope this helps out!
