**JULY 11, 2010*** Double Dip Wonder!

GOOD MORNIN ALL
finishing up things today
hoping to get an early start in the morning.
fast trip and in my newer truck. still putting it together.
Jay's I like better but I need MUCH more PULLING POWER and

YES

COMFORT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

out the door for parts

babbies are all feed and mostly happy

gaRRy

All you need to be one step ahead of Jay's truck are DOORS. But not having doors was almost like having air conditioning. ;)
The worst problem was the engine getting hot while we were idled so much. I don't think it would tow anything heavier than a tricycle.

Just got off the phone with the TA and paid off the cruise...no turning back now!!! I am getting more and more excited as the days pass. The TA said the 75 day mark is on 4/27 not 4/17 as posted here. Anyone help me on this one??

I think the only excursion we will book is parasailing on CC. I am holding out hope for Palo but will be OK if I don't get it. I just wanna be on the ship!!!!:woohoo:

My bad - typo on my part. Yes the 75 day mark is 4/27. Sorry about that.

:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I'm excited FOR you!!!!

I honestly think that if you keep your options open for Palo....such as different nights and different times, you'll get a spot.
Parasailing should still have openings too, because they often have two boats and are constantly taking people out and bringing them back. Good luck!!

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I know everyone is different but can you guys give me an idea of how much money to bring for all the extras. So far I am thinking I will need money for tips, drinks (at least one drink of the day!), photos, souvenirs, room service, expenses before and after the sail. Anything else??

Hmmm - I guess it depends:

1. Tips - Here is a link to a Tip Calculator
2. Drinks - 7-10 each - but you put these on your KTTW card - you need no cash on board
3. Photos are expensive - but you can buy a packages from $99 and up.
4. Room service is free - but you tip the server - you can sign for it or give them a couple of dollars
5. Souvenirs - Whatever your budget is.....
6. Pre/post cruise - again - whatever your budget is....

Definitely remember that EVERYTHING on the ship is charged to your stateroom account, which is then charged to a credit or debit card....or you can pay cash at the end, but sometimes the line for that is REALLY long. If you plan on paying cash and have a debit card, leave the money in your checking account and put your debit card down on your room account.
Tips are the only thing we use cash for onboard. We carry small amounts of cash for taxi's or souvenirs in the ports, or a snack in port, but that's all.
I always spend way too much on the pictures. For me, it's usually $200-$300 if I have the kids with me. Without, I manage to stay under $100.

Like Virgil said, as far as souvenirs, that's up to you. It depends on what cruise souvenirs you might want, and what you might want in Nassau and at Castaway Cay. First time cruisers always end up with more of that great stuff than those who've gone several times. But I do always check out what's new for sale on Castaway Cay, because they have some special merchandise that isn't sold on the ship....hats, t-shirts, beach towels, mugs, etc.

Don't forget to figure in your transportation to/from the ship, plus tip....and tip money for the airline porters/baggage handlers. I guess I'm what they consider cheap, because I still only tip $2 a bag. :rolleyes1

Also, even if you take a Disney excursion, they'll often ask for...or sometimes they don't ask, but people do give....a tip. By this I mean if you take a boat excursion, it's customary to tip the boat captain/crew....$5, $10, $15....whatever is comfortable for you. And not given to EACH person, just the amount you decide, usually dropped into a bucket, or handed to the "captain" or tour guide.

Anyone else doing the Comfort Inn Paradise Island for Nassau, or just heading over to Atlantic? My girls and I did it last year, and rates right now for that Tuesday night are less that $175. It worked out great for us, but I would love to be able to share a taxi ride with another DIS'er. That is the only part of Nassau I don't like doing, since it is just me and my two daughters. I don't feel unsafe, but I would feel more comfortable with another family or couple.

Well, I can say that we spent more on our first cruise than we did on previous ones. :rotfl: Here is a hint...you really don't need a set of drink of the day glasses in all the colors that they come in..:lmao:

Tips - yes, the tip calculator works well. There have been threads on how much to tip - minimum amount, more, less. You can put your tips on a credit card. We tend to bring cash and then add or subtract based on service, so think of that for the denomiations.

Photos are expensive. You can get packages - which might be nice for the first cruise and DD (and friend).

Go to the Frequently Asked Questions thread. Look under Shutters. The prices are from last year, so plan on an increase. Sorry I cannot post a link.

Shutters - Prices and Packages, Shutters Copyright Release Form, Prepurchase Photo Package here, New Photo CD Info & Discussion

Well maybe I can...try this.

I just checked Palo dining and almost every time and night is still available for 2 people.

And I checked parasailing and times are still available so get on line at midnight and reserve. We'll want to know what you got, but we may not wait up to see....:goodvibes

For room service tips - we take a bunch of $2.00 bills and then hand them out if we order. Actually, we did this more on our first cruise then we do now.

Souveniers - what is your preference - T-shirts all around? scrap books? Christmas ornamets, pins. There are lots to buy...we have found a budget is best. Think of what you would spend in the parks....as a starting point.

Remember tip money for luggage handlers....airport, hotel, at the port. And the nice men that take you through customs at the end of the cruise as well.

Hope this helps....

Listening to the annoucement for the future of the space program by the President - anyone else?

Opening line....
"100% committed to the Mission of NASA and its future!"

Later.

Thanks everyone for the feedback regarding the additional monies needed. I kind of like the idea of being able to take it all out of one account. When is the best time to take care of that? Standing in a long line at the end of the cruise sounds like a sure way to bring you back to reality :rotfl2:

9 more days til I can try to book Palo and my excursions. Looks like DD won't have her friend with her after all. I don't think the girl's parents like the idea of someone else being able to take their child to somewhere they can't. JMHO. We'll see.....both girls are holding out hope.

Got me DD to gather up some no-longer-used toys to sell at the school's Mom2Mom sale for souvenir money. Haven't been able to find this kind of motivator in the past:laughing: (but I am happy to be parting with some stuff!) Wish her luck!

Welcome to all. We are new the cruise. Finally paid off and have all Palo and excursions booked. We didn't join the boards until later becase of several health issues that had to be cleared before we really could get excited about the cruise. All is well and we will be sailing on our eigth Disney cruise with all of you on the 11th of July. We are interested in joining in many of the Disboard activities. There are four of us (possibly five as the daughter may be taking one of her friends). Does this sound familiar Kaizen? We have staterooms 7001 and 7003 booked. Let me know if we need to do any additional things to be part of this wonderful cruise. We have and experience of a lifetime booked as we are coming in three days early and staying at the Beach Club and after the crusie we are staying at Bay Lake Towers for an additional 8 days. Congrats to all and we are looking forward in meeting everyone.
