Julie's continual struggle (WW thread - comments VERY welcome!!)

Blueberry white chocolate cookies?! That sounds heavenly. I have never heard of such a thing, but I really love blueberries and white chocolate.

Catching up on your trip as you can tell.

The one that got me was the groom's step-father thinking you were a stripper. The "upper frontal appendages" really made me laugh. Well, I guess you know what kind of guy he is and I am sure that every time there is a family gathering, he will still be trying to figure it out. :rotfl2:

Your son is so lucky to have you. You are a good mother.

Well, another unexpected, fun DS19 day.

The morning was calm - breakfast 4 pts. DD and I then went to Goodwill where I found an awesome pair of Structure orange pants for DS16 (he is an orange freak, but thinks it's related to his partial colorblindness). Then Wally world and Petsmart. I was STARVING, but kept it to 2 pretzel sticks (1) and my water. Home I had 2 ww tortillas (2) ff chz (2) and mango salsa. Then I had 10 chips with my remaining salsa (3). So, 10 left.

Then I got a call from Brock (DS19 older roomie) that DS19 was STRANDED about 40 miles west of town. Why? Who knows. Didn't know any details. He gave me a number to another friend who said DS19 had walked to the truck stop at Dancing Eagle Casino. So, not knowiing what to expect we load up the van, drinks, snacks, go buy a large gas can, fill it and take off. From my house was about 75 min. Don't pass his car anywhere en route. Walk in to the 2nd building and yes, he is seated in a booth with a girl and an older guy (who was hitchiking to CA and loaned DS19 his phone card to phone for help). Apparently DS19 and his female friend had gone to Flagstaff (about 3.5 hours) sometime yesterday to "hang out with Ann & ?) and ran out of gas. Between them they had 7cents left. Apparently someone who owed DS19 money was supposed to be there and give it to them, but never showed. AMAZING. So get him gas & follow them back to ABQ, but we couldn't keep up as he had someones borrowed radar detector. wonderful. At least it was only gas and not another expensive breakdown. I don't know who the girl is, other than she introduced herself as Sara but she was REALLY beautiful in a mediterranean way, if you could see past the punk rocker clothes.

So, the plan of Brats went down the tubes. We got home just before DS16 got home from work. DD fixed a big pot of mac & cheese. I just had celery & laughing cow lt chz (I think this could be a new fav) (1) and don't know what else I"ll have, but it won't be normal mac. Maybe I'll pull out a WW one if I can't resist.

On the way back my allergies kicked in and the crud was worse this morning, so I'm wiped out.

The only positive I can see in this is as we were pumping gas DH said to DS19 that he should consider moving back home and DS said he probably will in Aug. Who knows. Tonight I'm too tired to think about it.

Now I have to concentrate on getting DS16 to finish his school before he would need to start if the new school plan works out. Hopefully we'll know this week.

I have 9 pts left and I NEED ice cream. Fortunately I have some ww left. Not sure what else.

Thanks for your input. It always helps.

Mike, I am praying about your sister as well. Someday I'll tell y'all about my TX college prep school I taught at. The kids got Rolls Royce & Porche for their 16th bdays. What an experience!

Hi Julie- You are doing an INCREDIBLE job handling an incredibly tough situation. I think I mentioned this before, but my family went through a similar situation with my brother, and my parents were at their wits end trying to figure out how to teach him to take responsibility for his life. I know it feels like you're fighting a battle on all fronts, but you never know what will be the one thing that will make a difference. For my brother, it was the day that he had to ask for money to buy his dog some dogfood...it may have not been the biggest crisis, but he was finally able to see how his lack of responsibility could hurt someone else.

Your letter is great- it's a contract between you and your DS, and it gives you a place to begin a discusson.

I'm an emotional eater, so I'm seriously amazed at how well you've been able to continue monitoring your eating while going through all of this! Well done!!!
:) :) :)

Just wanted to drop by and say that I think you're doing an incredible job managing both your life and DS.

Your letter/terms sound very reasonable and I hope your DS thinks it through and takes you up on your very generous offer. Sending prayers...

I hope you have a wonderful day today!!!

Good Morning, all! Thanks for the feedback, thought & prayers. Being Mom isn't easy most days. Some it isn't even FUN!!

Last night I stayes OP, but had ice cream cake from DS16's bday and a ww bar w/ fresh strawberries on it. Oh well. On points, but not the greatest choices, better than not in points.

Breakfast is kashi go lean crunch w/ blueberry lt yogurt & tossed in some fresh blueberries. (4)

We had planned to go to 11 church, but DD just got up and is still really icky sick. I need to call the Dr back tomorrow and see if they want to change her antibiotics. She is on day 6 and still can't hear out of the ear and it hurts.

I don't know what it is with her and FL. Last year we got home in mid june and she was sick until late Aug. She had developed a colicky (sp?) appendix and they couldn't really catch it. BIL said it was what you get from kissing a dolphin.

I have no idea what today will bring....do I ever???? Sometime today I'll have DH grill the brats & dogs we were to have last night. Laundry, house cleaning & of course, Dis are on the agenda.

Finally, caught up and back up to speed on your journal.

Sounds like you had a great trip!

First of all, I want to congratulate you on taking a stance with your DS19 and letting him know where things stand. It took a lot of courage, but had to be done. You have made an extremely generous offer to help him out and get him back on his feet. He now knows that you said it would be the last time that you do this and it is up to him now to either take you up on the offer or not. Stick to your guns. It is not going to be easy no matter what he decides to do, but know that you have done EVERYTHING in your power to help him. After all, you just want to help not provide financial backing for the rest of his life. I hope he makes the right choice, but if not, then remember that it is his choice and you have done nothing wrong. You are a great mom and very supportive of your children.

Secondly, I really hope the flu bug goes away soon. :wizard:

Keep up the great work. You have done wonders working through all this stress and not eating out the entire kitchen.

Have a great day! ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

Great job on the letter Julie!

It was a very well thought out letter. It seems that it addresses everything that concerns you so there is no room for loopholing (if you know what I mean) but it is also a letter that shows that you really do want to help your child, no matter what the cost. Good job!

Great job on not getting too stressed also :wizard:

Yesterday was OP! YEAH!!!!

Lunch was tortilla chips, mango salsa and FF cheese (8 - but worth it)
had 2 cf diet coke.
Dinner was baked potato w/ ff sour cream (3) and 3 ff hot dogs.

I can feel the sodium today, but I love the hot dogs.

The scale has not budged since I've been home - a week - but I'm not surprised. Still awaiting TOM and I haven't exercised since I was sick - only 1 day. Exercise is about to change.

Even though I'd like to tell myself I'm not going to WW on Thurs, I AM GOING. PLEASE hold me to that!! Good, bad, or ugly, I MUST!!!

Dory is sitting here by my computer talking to me - (and I can't claim "I suffer from short term memory loss" - I don't think y'all would buy that :rotfl2: )

This morning DD and I are going to our fav thrift store. Then to pay my verizon bill, credit union and HOME TO EXERCISE. Her fencing coach is at the Olympic Training Center for a coaches clinic this week so she will have a shortened fencing time tonight that DH will take her to.

Sometime soon I have to go chair shopping. When we moved here 4.5 years ago I bought an awesome wood kitchen set with a table that will expand to seat 12 and has a grandfather clock type storage cabinet ( I bought it for the cabinet). But, the chairs are poorly made and out of 6 we are down to 3 that aren't split. So need to find 6 new sturdy white chairs.

Friday is Mia's first birthday and I need to go to 3 dog bakery to order her a doggy cake. Yes, I'm insanely in love with my puppy. I'm even having a party for her. (no cats invited, sorry Mike & Logan. She won't even let our Devon Rex, Tiger, play) Yes, I'll try to post pics.

Ok, enough rambling. Almost time to wake the house and get moving.

Breakfast will likely be coffee & a scone from the coffee shop. That or Keva. I'll let DD decide as that is her 'bribe' for going with me.

Hi, Julie! I haven't read your whole journal since it's so long but I skimmed it! You're doing great! Oh, and I have 2 dogs that I am in love with as well as 4 cats and now my dd! Dh thinks I'm nuts b/c I spoil and baby all of them! ;)

Glad to hear that yesterday went well for you. After all you have been dealing with lately it must have been nice to have a "normal" day.

Have fun ordering the doggie cakes and remember, you are going to WW on Thurs!

Keep up the good work. ::MickeyMo ::MickeyMo

I've skimmed through the last part of your journal and I want to say that I think you are a great mom. If my parents would have only showed so much care when I was growing up and going through some tough times - but I overcame and did well. Still haven't gone back to school but eventually I will.

You sound like you are doing as well as you can when you can on your plan. You WILL continue to lose weight - having us here through the hard times I'm sure helps so, as you said basically, you are typing and not eating!!!!

Keep on
Chris

Great job yesterday!!!! You ARE going to WW on Thursday. I think there's enough of us here to make sure of that--right, gang? :teeth:

Good luck with the chair shopping. I hope you find something nice.

Can't wait to hear about the doggie birthday party! Our kitties turn 1 on 7/23 and we're having a party for them, too. They're getting a birdfeeder as a gift. Not sure about treats--they don't seem to like anything but their food, so maybe just an extra scoop of kibble! I can't wait to see your pics!

Have a great day! :sunny:

Hi Julie!
I too am guilty of just jumping in your journal...24 pages is a little intimidating!

So you are weighing in on Thursday right? Good for you - drink up that water before then and good luck! Here's hoping that scale shows you are a "loser"! :)

Still OP. Breakfast was decaf & a maple pecan scone (6). Lunch a roll up (4)
and of course cf diet coke.

Found some great stuff at the thrift store. Made it to the Credit union and Verizon. Off now to mail a couple of packages.

Hi, Julie!
Just wanted to jump in and say "hi" and to tell you we are all excited about you going to WW on Thursday -- NOT to see how you have done, but more so to be proud of you for making a commitment to go and sticking to it. I know life can be really rough but you are doing such a great job. Keep it up. And, like Lilly said, make sure you drink a lot of water!

Hi Julie!!

Mia's party sounds like a blast! Logan doesn't go to parties anyway, he says they are so last season. He has recently joined a book club! ;)

And you know us... You will be at WW Thursday if we have to call your group leader and have them go get you!!! I will do it too!! I have a calling card! hehehe! :rotfl:

Have a happy & healthy Monday night!
Mike :flower:

Ok, still on track. Just did the WATP 4 mile. Wow, not doing it for 3 weeks really kicked my rear! But I did it.

Almost done with water today, but will have more. It's 95 out and almost 90 in, so I'm wiped out. More later.....

95 out! 90 in!!!
You deserve a rest and some cold water!
Stories like that make me happy for my school provided and paid for air conditioning!

Congrats on your exercise today and have a great night!
Mike :goodvibes

Yep, Mike, it's HOT!!

With a swamp cooler and no refrigerated air, it doesn't really cool inside. Fortunately, temps like this aren't the norm, and by bedtime, it's back in the 60's so the windows can be open and fan in.

Just pulled out the thrift store stuff I bought for maybe me. I optimistically bought 12's and they ALL FIT!!! Even 1 size 11 junior fit wearable. One I discovered has wool in it so I can't wear them as I'm allergic, but got a great pair of Anne Klein and a couple pairs from AZ Jean.

DS16 is at work and DH took DD to fencing, so I'm alone. W/ 11 pts left for dinner I'm having chips & mango salsa (4) and not sure what else. Mia is sitting here on the desk mooching chips. I've finished my 64 oz water and filled my cup again. Doubtful that I'll finish it.

Time to go get something done.
