Juan says "BAAAA!" - 12/24 - Our last few Disney hours. COMPLETE

All those sweets look soooo good! I think I'd go into a sugar coma though!!

If it makes you feel better, this is my picture from August:

Great update Brook!! Loved your review of the Wishes Dessert party! I have to agree with you I loved the food and it was a great view and a good time!!!!! Paula and I both enjoyed it!!!!!

Those chocolate covered strawberries were amazing and trust me I ate my fill of them that evening!

I so hope they still do the dessert party this summer!!

I love your mug! I have a coffee tumbler with the same image :)

Those are some amazing pictures! Oh and I looove that blue epcot shirt, where might I be able to find that next week? I leave in 7 days!!!

Oh my - I think I want one of everything!! That dessert buffet looks so good
drool.gif

Your pictures of the Epcot fountain are gorgeous. Mine never turn out that good - hopefully the new camera will help with that.

And, I love Henry's contribution to the update! :thumbsup2

Oooh, good enough to break out the drooling smiley! ;) :goodvibes It was VERY good. I can't complain about anything...other than no refills of the chocolate covered strawberries!

I was REALLY excited about those pics of the fountain! I wasn't expecting them to turn out as well as they did. My day time ones never seem to capture it right. I hope you are able to get some good ones, it's such a beautiful fountain, I love watching it.

:lmao: Henry really likes to type! Today he insisted on typing to Joe over instant messenger.

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I think I gained about 50 pounds just looking at those wonderful pictures of delicious looking sweets:love:
I so want to try this sometime. Are they going to be doing this all the time or just on special occasions?? It looks wonderful:cloud9:

Now Im off to watch your videos:thumbsup2

:rotfl: The buffet is wonderful! All you can eat, and everything is GOOD! I am not sure what they are doing with the buffet, it seems to just keep getting extended for now, hopefully they make it a permanent feature because it rocks!

Hope you enjoyed the videos! The picture quality is not so good, but the music...:cloud9:

i'm glad you explained the fruit! LOL! because i was thinking eating fruit at a dessersparty..I'm heading for the sweets! LOL!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: NO FRUIT FOR US!!! ;) I didn't even think about that when I was typing it all, I just threw that in there...too funny...and so true!

Thanks so much for the Shula's review...I've always wondered about that place. Never mind that I see the one in Chicago out my office window everyday.....the first time we go will probably be at Disney! :rotfl:

We would work well together as I have to drink everything with a straw since my teeth as sooooo sensitive to ice...you could have all my ice!

:lmao: When I don't know what something is, it usually becomes a "thingy" ;)

Those look like the same donut holes at Crystal Palace...OMG - the price of the dessert party would be worth it just for those!!! When we ate at the CP, I didn't try one until I was just about stuffed...good thing too. I still ate about five of them and they were the best donut holes I ever had!

And tell Henry I enjoyed his trip report...that was really cute! :goodvibes

:rotfl2: That's funny that you work right by a Shula's! You should really go try it sometime...either there or in WDW! I was very impressed!

People are shocked I can stand hot and cold in my mouth like I can. I can literally drink a hot coffee and then immediately chew on ice! Henry is the same as me...he loves to chew ice. Not good!

I'm glad someone else shares in my uber descriptive skillz. "Thingy", "guy" and "deal" (or "dealy" or "dealie-o") are quite common phrases of mine.

Ahhhh, that makes total sense about the donut holes! I know Joe likes donuts, but MAN, he would not stop! They must be the same ones, something Disney does to 'em I'm sure...! I'll have to try them next time too. ::yes::

Well I have not posted in a while so let's see....

The pics with Henry & the fire truck are so cute.

So glad you got to meet some relatives & have a wonderful meal. We have not tried Shula's but it sounds great!! Loved the "snoring stroller" comment:rotfl2:

Not so great about waiting that LONG for a hotdog!! What is up with that???

Oh my goodness..those desserts look YUMMY!!!! I'll take at least one of everything!! I hope they have that there when we go for our anniv. trip.
That pic of the castle that Joe took while you were sitting at the table is great!!

Oh & I have 2 of those garden Mickey gnomes One for my front yard & one for the back yard. I love them!! I bought them when we were there a few years back & had them mailed home (too bulky to carry home).

I have no idea what was going wrong in the kitchen that night at America's CS, but it was not good! I recall quite a few CMs in there and everyone seemed confused - it was just chaos! Perhaps something went drastically wrong and they were trying to catch up - or all new people?

I hope they keep the dessert party too-it really is awesome! It would be a perfect addition on an anniversary trip. It's lovely to not have to fight the crowds for a seat!

I like the idea of 2 Mickey Gnomes....:scratchin

O-M-G!!!!!!! Those desserts look sooooo delish! I'm glad it was a magical evening for you!

They were YUMMY! Very, very good. I can't say one bad thing about the desserts. All very fresh and tasty.

Yum! The desert party looks delish!

Love the retro Epcot shirt!

Aww too cute that Henry wanted to type! Aaron loves the smilies too!:thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes I was aiming to get the monorail shirt, or a vintage MK shirt (like Flossbolna's if you've seen it), but I saw that one and was sold!

Henry was really excited when he saw the smile in the hat: :santa:

I feel like one of our dogs now with a long string of drool hanging out of my mouth. :lmao:

How I hope, hope, hope they keep the dessert party going until we get there again! I NEED tiramasu in a cup!!!

:rotfl2: Too funny! I hope they keep extending it (or make it permanent!) and you get to go, it was so great. I understand about the NEED for tiramisu...::yes:: and in miniature version everything is even better for some reason...perhaps because you can fit more in?

Yum yum yum!!! I SO hope the dessert buffet is continued in the spring (insert drooly smilie here!) I would love to do this on our last night there

I am totally with you on the water thing! I can't go to bed without a very LARGE glass of ice water next to my bed (in a cup insulated well enough so there is still ice until well into early morning!) When I was pregnant with my second child, I became obsessed with chewing on ice!! I simply could never have enough. I looked forward to going to the hospital because they have the BEST type of ice...yes, sad I know :sad2:

I really hope they keep it too. Maybe they will make it a permanent thing for 2010?

:lmao::lmao::lmao: HOSPITAL ICE IS THE BEST!!!! I completely agree! It's those little ice chips, and it's soft so it's easier to chew. Love it. Arby's used to have great ice, but they changed it. :sad2: I will pick certain places over others due to the quality of ice sometimes....it's nuts!

I know why I crave it though...it's an iron deficiency. Have you ever heard that before? Kinda crazy, huh? I was on iron pills my entire pregnancy because when they first took my blood they were shocked at its levels. When I took the vitamins I didn't crave ice at all. It was so weird because I have craved ice for as long as I remember.

I really should get back on iron vitamins! :rotfl:

Great update. I would have gone for the fruit, too, even though I would have had to try a few of the sweet treats, as well. The creme brulee would have been a for sure. What a spread!

We should have our own desserts party on NYE! :)

You are so good MeMom, going for the fruit! Though, it was nice to have an abundance of things other than melon or grapes at the buffet. The creme brulee in the wee little mug was quite good...have you tried the WPE creme brulee? :cloud9:

I like your thinkin' with the dessert party on NYE! Dole Whips from Capn Cooks, we might have some cookies or something along those lines from our room...hmmm...!

Okay Brooke I was totally happy with my little peppermint Bark Dove Candies from my secret santa until reading your update!

Yummy!

:lmao: Though, Peppermint Bark Dove sound amaaaaaaaaaaaaazming. Yum! I think I need another candy cane or something after all this sweets talk!

Your Shula's review was really interesting, it is one of those restaurants where I keep thinking they might be worth it from my foreigner's point of view, it seems to be so quintessential American! :goodvibes I will keep it in mind for future trips! :thumbsup2

Loved your dessert party review. While this is definitely not for me, it sounds like it was the best thing for your family! :goodvibes It's great to read about someone else having a wonderful time!

The Mornings aren't pretty mug is wonderful, I remember that you were writing about it last year and then it wasn't to be found anywhere in January? But isn't it a bit different in design from the previous mugs? Or am I just thinking that? Is it as huge as it used to be?

And I see that Henry will soon be a real DISer, you are training him very early! :lmao:

Yes! I think Shula's is VERY American with the giant slabs of meat! :rotfl:

Yep, you are right about the mug. My Mickey Mouse one is REALLY big, like 6-8 cups. It's nuts. We couldn't find a match for it in January. This Minnie one is a slightly different design and a LOT smaller! But I still like it all the same. :goodvibes

Henry is getting quite good at typing! He sees a letter he knows and gets really excited about seeing it on screen and thinks the little smilies are very cute..."Awwwww" and he'll point to one. Or he'll giggle and point to another. He likes this one: :santa: and this one: popcorn:: the best it seems..."corn, corn!"

You had a great view, I love this pic

644176528_6sUcx-M.jpg

Loving all the dessert pics, I so so so so so hope they extend it again to the whole of next year :wizard:

I lol'd at the part where Joe kept looking at buffet, you and then getting up for more donut holes :rotfl:

Bless Henry and his lil update for the thread :)

Thanks! I love that pic too! It truly sums up the feeling of it all...ahhhhh!

I hope they extend it too, it's such a great addition!

Mmm, look at all those desserts! Yum. I love the Wishes soundtrack too. The first time we saw it I sobbed.

That Epcot t-shirt is pretty cool!

The first time I saw Wishes my jaw was on the ground. I was amazed! It was last November, and they had the Castle all lit up - goosebumps!! I can't wait to see it that way again.

Those are the best Tink pictures I've seen on here! :thumbsup2

All of those desserts look so amazing. :cloud9:

I'll have to tell Joe that! He'll be psyched! It was a bit freaky to see her fly right over our heads...but I'm scared of heights, so it made me shiver in fear for her!!!

All those sweets look soooo good! I think I'd go into a sugar coma though!!

If it makes you feel better, this is my picture from August:
DisneyAug09107.jpg

:rotfl: I remember that from your TR! We took the same picture...and got the same reactions, didn't we? I recall your brother saying something, or just looking at you strange. We are DISers, we take pictures of EVERYTHING!

I'm so glad to read you guys enjoyed it too! Are you that far in your TR yet? I haven't been over there in a few days...gotta catch up!!

Those strawberries were sooooo yummy!!

I so hope they still do the dessert party this summer!!

I love your mug! I have a coffee tumbler with the same image :)

I do too! I think they should make it a permanent thing. It's well worth the money IMO.

Oooh, a tumbler would be so nice!! Perhaps on this trip...maybe they will have a Donald or Pluto...

Those are some amazing pictures! Oh and I looove that blue epcot shirt, where might I be able to find that next week? I leave in 7 days!!!

7 days!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it wonderful to say "next week"?! We are almost there too, just 10 for us!:eek::eek:

Anyway, the Epcot shirt is in the dump shop after Test Track. If you walk in through the doors from the park, the cashier is on your left. Go slightly to the left, along the back wall it's hanging up. If it's still in the same spot of course! (and I can't believe I remember it to that detail...!)

What are your dates for your trip? Where are you staying, etc.? Maybe our paths will cross?!

Great updates Brook! I somehow was 2 behind again. :sad2: I've heard Shula's is insanely good. That hotdog on the other hand... Loved the photos from the Wishes party. I saw the chapter title and my first response was "As many as you have." Glad the insanely long line didn't take too long to get through.

I almost didn't check it out - wierd huh? I thought it was a bunch of teenagers, I don't know why. I'm glad I did check it out. You are making me wonder if I shouldn't bring the twins (2) whe I take my daughter in April. My girls won't sleep in a stroller though - we'd have to go back to the hotel EVERYDAY - oh yeah I remember, Viviana is striking on sleeping in the pack-n-play, that's why. You little boy is so cute and such a good traveller! Can't wait to hear the rest.
Julie

HA!!!! I miss Arby's ice too :lmao:

Yep! After the pregnancy the doctor tested my blood to see if that's why I wasn't bouncing back as quickly as I should have and sure enough, low iron! She said that's why I'd had the ice obsession. What do they call it? Pica or something like that? I've read that it can cause cravings for non-food items like drywall :confused3

Ok caught up...all kinds of thoughts...

love that you guys got all caught up in the computer seen on SSE...I wouldn't have none who that guys was...I do know Jobs though...;) but I'm a history geek so I totally get getting excited by stuff like that...(love SSE also...:thumbsup2)

I think your description of Shula's sounds fabulous...don't know why we don't usually go over there to eat but it sounds like it would be worth it...:thumbsup2

Poor Henry...:sad2:...wow how hard is it to make a hot dog...you could have made several yourself in all that time...

But I'm glad he enjoyed the dessert party...that sounds like it would really be fun to do...ironically for a Disney lover...I don't always love crowds...and a little trade off in view for comfort and yummy desserts would be totally worth it...:thumbsup2

I was wondering how many donut holes one man could eat...:lmao:...knowing how much guys can eat in general I would assume it would be quite a few...;) they do sound like they were good though...:lmao:

Yep, you are right about the mug. My Mickey Mouse one is REALLY big, like 6-8 cups. It's nuts. We couldn't find a match for it in January. This Minnie one is a slightly different design and a LOT smaller! But I still like it all the same. :goodvibes

Good to know! My BFF fell in love with the Minnie mug in DL when we were there in 2005, but did not like the size. So I think this will the perfect gift to bring back for her - even though I hate transporting mugs back to Germany, they fill up all my hand luggage, I will already be brinning back my own souvenir mug (a tradition for me ever since my first DLP trip!)

I know they were testing this on a limited basis. Do you know if they are doing this full-time now?

How much was it?

Those Desserts look awesome. It looks like they do a nice job with it. I thought it would've been some cookies, coffee or drinks in a large catering container...but the spread looks well put together.

thanks for the many pictures and descriptions of the different "things" at the buffet. It really helps people on the DIS decide if this is something for them.:thumbsup2

Love your dessert party pics Brook! Especially all the food! Yummy, yummy!!!

DH can definitely down those donut holes! He loves when I get coffee at Dunkin Donuts and bring home a box of munchkins! LOL!!

I must admit that those chocolate covered strawberries were my donuts holes the night we went! I LOVE chocolate covered strawberries! LOVE THEM!!!

I was so glad when they refilled them!!!

I totally argree with you that the dessert party is a great way to see Wishes with a little one! It's so much more relaxing then fighting 900 million people on Main Street!!!

:rotfl2: And "as many as he could have" was at LEAST 10. On top of all the other stuff! And just after Shula's!

I almost didn't check it out - wierd huh? I thought it was a bunch of teenagers, I don't know why. I'm glad I did check it out. You are making me wonder if I shouldn't bring the twins (2) whe I take my daughter in April. :welcome: I'm so glad you checked out my TR! :goodvibes I know what you mean by the title - if you have read Jordan's TR, his is called something about a hot sweaty Asian...not exactly what I would normally EVER look at, but it's just a play on words! And he is the hot sweaty Asian...!

It would be hard for us if Henry wouldn't sleep in a stroller - but, we'd just be more diligent about making rope drops and taking those necessary breaks. He is a WONDERFUL traveler...we are very, very blessed by his easy going attitude, even at 2 years old!

Or dirt! I have head that! And only once during my pregnancy I remember craving dirt. It was SO weird. Instead I just laid in the grass and smelled the earth. :rotfl: I haven't ever been diagnosed by a doctor, so I had never heard the actual term...I really should go check it out. I wonder if my EXTREMELY dry skin on my hands has anything to do with that....

PS. I am chewing a glass of ice as I type this!

Ok caught up...all kinds of thoughts...

I was pretty surprised they put Steve Wozniak in there instead of Steve Jobs...but I do think the Woz was more the beginning of it all, and Jobs kinda took over after a while...

Shula's is VERY worth it! I don't think they take DDP, or discount on AP or DVC or any of that, but still worth it.

I am not big on crowds either - they just frustrate me. Which has me a tad nervous about this upcoming trip! But, I've prepared myself mentally to just roll with it, so hopefully I can. :rolleyes1

It's amazing sometimes what a man can eat isn't it? How can they possibly be hungry AGAIN? :rotfl: I'm just waiting for those days when Henry is a teenager and I need to order a large pizza just for him...!

Oh it will be perfect for her then! Joe found this one at the Emporium Complex, not sure if that is different than just the regular Emporium, or just the official name? I just checked the receipt. :goodvibes It was $10.95. I am wondering too if you could find it online...but I imagine the shipping charges to Germany might be a tad outrageous!

I haven't heard that it was a permanent deal yet or not. I don't think it is, but they have extended the dates all the way through end of 2009...so maybe it will be a regular thing in 2010?

I believe we paid right around $25 pp.

They really do a VERY nice job with it. All the desserts were kept cold and none were melty or anything. The plates were refilled and new things brought out as the party went on.

Glad to provide the pics! There was one other guy taking pictures of the buffet like I was and I was so very tempted to ask him if he was a DISer. I wish I would have gotten the little signs with the food so we could tell what everything was since I can't remember anymore! But, it was ALL good. Not one bad thing!

Ooooh, Dunkin Donuts. How I miss thee! I love the Bavarian Creme donut. We do buy their coffee, it's expensive, but so stinkin' good. One time someone that I worked with when I lived in NYC found Bavarian Creme munchkins. I could NOT stop eating them! :rotfl:

I love chocolate covered strawberries too, I wish they weren't so expensive usually. But, they are worth it, yummmm! They never refilled the strawberries on our night...or if they did, I missed out on the refill, so I only got a couple. But, I was happy!

It was just awesome to have a chair for all of us, unlimited food and drinks - no scoping out a spot in advance, entertaining a 2 year old and risking someone standing in your stroller during the show... (I'll never forget that! LOL)

Before I begin, I must shout it....

I'M SINGLE DIGIT DANCING!!!

:dance3:

9 days until our trip. 1.5 days left of the TR to write about. I'm determined! :goodvibes

We left off as our little clan was drifting off to sleep on very full stomachs from the Wishes Dessert Party.

The next morning we woke up around 7:00 am, quickly got ready and headed out the door. Our plans for that day were to eat breakfast at CSR's Cafe Rix (the CS), then bus it over to DHS. We both wanted to get to DHS quickly so we could be sure to grab FPs for TSM.

On our way to Cafe Rix I snapped pictures, naturally!

646555894_RSmDK-M.jpg

This was the courtyard outside our room - just slightly down the hall a bit. The fountain had been off all week, but was finally on! It was very pretty. Nice humidity too! ;)

646555322_uVLrw-M.jpg

You can't tell as well with our slightly fogged over lens, but even the soda machine was fogged over! Another hot, hot day. Surprisingly, this machine wasn't themed.

Food!

Continued in next post

Continued from previous post

We ended up choosing 2 breakfast sandwiches and a bowl of fruit.

646553863_FocVY-M.jpg

646554914_MYfG3-M.jpg

Mine: Ham & egg (no cheese)

646553679_7tMR9-M.jpg

Joe's: Bacon, egg & cheese

The sandwiches were just eh. Not bad, but not great. There was something weird about the bread I thought. But, it filled the need and we were all full by the end of the meal.

While our sandwiches were only average, we had taken our food outside to dine, so our view was quite nice!

After breakfast we went through the lobby area and out to the buses to head for DHS.

I love this lobby, so pretty!

Cool tile, eh?

Up next: I think I could call this home ::yes::

nice update.

it's sooooooo foggy.

are any coca cola machines at resorts themed? I don't think I ever saw one that was.
