Juan says "BAAAA!" - 12/24 - Our last few Disney hours. COMPLETE

I was just thinking the same thing as the PP. My Alexa would have never slept through a whole meal! She is such a light sleeper- ugggh! Glad you got to have an adult only meal and conversation:thumbsup2
Cant wait to hear about the lovely dessert party

It truly is a blessing that Henry sleeps that heavy. Just like his Momma!

Your meal at Shula's sounds wonderful!! Yummy, yummy and more yummy!! Poor Henry and being so hungry and poor you for that wait! Crazy!!

You asked the "How many donut holes can one man eat?" question, I speak from experience when I say an incredibly large, perhaps even mind blowing, amount ;)

:lmao: is your DH a donut hole man too? Seems we've got a few of those...

I know I posted a response on your last update yesterday, but it's nowhere to be found :confused3

Anyway, it went something like this -

Poor Henry! I can't believe you had to wait 35 minutes for a stupid hot dog - they really should have given you your money back :sad2:

That's wonderful that you were able to meet up with Joe's cousin and his fiance and have such a nice dinner. Odds are they won't have a lot of time to chat during the wedding trip, so this gave you a great opportunity to get to know them!

Can't wait for dessert party pics!! (I need my drooling smilie, but I'm too lazy to open my photobucket ;) )

I truly wish they would have just canceled the meal like I asked...twice!! I almost just walked out with them keeping the money too.

It was a wonderful meal with DJ and B! It was fun to get to know them-you are most likely right with the wedding too, while we'll see them, we won't get "down time" to hang out and chat.

I'm with everyone else here - that meal at shula's sounds amazing. I probably would have felt a tad out of place , too. But what the heck, its dark in there. :rotfl2: Glad you got to meet with you family and I'm sure the wedding will be a blast.

As for Henry - poor baby - I had a feeling he was in for a major nap. But that stinks when a little boy wakes up starving and you can't find a decent thing for him to eat in a reasonable amount of time. Sheesh! I remember those days. You can't do a thing to remedy the situation and you feel like everyone is looking at you with a crying baby.

Can't wait to see some pics from the dessert party.

:rotfl2: Yes! It was dark, so that helped!! My glaring white Mickey t-shirt was hidden a bit in a corner too...:goodvibes

I'm sure everyone in the America CS was watching us...screaming baby, stressed out Momma, everyone sweating because of how hot and crowded the front area was. ...quite a sight!

Poor Henry.
Isn't it great that kids have stomaches made of steal?
Was it man or baby that ate, "how many donuts".

Anyway, interesting about Shula's, glad you had a great time. When we go to the convention in Feb., we have to stay 2 nites over at the Ritz. I was so intimated last year, but I got over it fairly fast. Most were impressed that I left everyday and took myself over to WDW by myself. Conciere' was like, "but don't you want a driver?" Nope, just give me my rental and I'm out of here. And, just as I said that, a VIP CM from WDW was walking some family out to a limo to go to the MK. :rotfl:

:rotfl:the "how many donuts" is definitely MAN. I knew he liked donuts, but, I was nervous the buffet table was going to run out of them just due to Joe! ;)

That's so great about the time for your convention! Good for you for getting out and enjoyed WDW. :thumbsup2 I would have done the same - get me outta here, I need to get there!

A VIP CM, eh? That would be so much fun someday...:cloud9:

Awww...poor Henry and Mommy! I remember that feeling, especially when they're younger! It gets better, I promise. All that for a greasy hot dog, eh? :rotfl2: I'm glad you guys had such great company and a great meal at Shula's! Sounds very yummy and fun!

Heather

Even now, just 2 months later, I can reason a bit more with Henry a bit more--so while I'm sure he would have been still crying, I don't think it would have been quite as bad as that ordeal was!

Wow! I never knew that Schula's has a cheap 3 course dinner before a certain time! That is awesome!! I laughed out loud when you said you felt like a dork in your park gear, I think that is why we have yet to eat at Jiko. :rotfl:

Awwww...poor Henry! At least he finally got that greasy hot dog.

I know! I was pumped about the discounted meal - I gotta figure out again what that deal is....:surfweb:

Jiko is business casual, right? Or does it have no dress code? We haven't eaten there yet either...obviously! The trip in ELEVEN :woohoo: days we are doing CG, so I'm bringing a skirt--but it's also for the wedding.

We left off waiting for an absurd long time for a plain greasy hot dog for Henry - and hoofing it as quickly as we could out of Epcot. We were headed for MK...and the Wishes Dessert Party! :dance3:

A few pics of the America CS as we scurried toward the door...

I really should have grabbed a picture of the front area where the registers are and the mobs waiting for their food!

And we arrived!

644168552_woXP7-M.jpg

We shimmied down the sidewalk through Main Street USA, hung a sharp right to go past The Plaza and saw the line for the party stretchingggggggggg for eternity. How would they ever fit us all?

But they did, no problem! The area looks small, but actually can hold quite a few people. The line went very quickly, we were given wristbands and shown to our table.

We were on the lowest tier, one table back from the front row...and even better, RIGHT next to the buffet. :rolleyes1 ;)

We quickly took advantage.

I went up first to grab some water, expecting water bottles. While I don't mind a bottle of water, and I appreciate the convenience, I enjoy a glass filled with ice much more. I like me some ice, a beverage is never cold enough! And yes, I'll admit a bad habit here---I'm an ice muncher. I apologize to anyone whom it annoys and if you tell me, I won't do it around you. :flower3:

Anyway, I went up to the buffet and found glasses with a big 'ol tub of ICE. Oh happy day! I filled that cup to the top and sucked the water down before I even left the buffet. I can't recall how many glasses of water I drank, but I do remember getting a chill from all the ice by the end of the party. And it felt wonderful. It has been so hot, to be COLD and outside was a wonderful treat! :rotfl:

Icy water and milk for Henry in hand, I returned to the table where Henry began to guzzle, and made a quick run through the buffet, here is my first plate:

644168069_jCxr7-M.jpg

Here are some excellent descriptions ;), starting with the glass thing in the upper left - this was a raspberry sipper type thing, a brownie, cantaloupe, blueberries, watermelon and a peanut butter chocolate thing. The brownie and fruit were for Henry.

644168076_GNSRk-M.jpg

Joe's first plate. The white cup in the background was a banana thing, chocolate covered strawberries (to share with me!), ONE donut hole (the start of it all...), a tiramisu cup, pineapple (for Henry) and cannolis.

644172660_JzsDX-M.jpg

I also had a tiramisu cup...yum.

644172647_MpikG-M.jpg

Close-up of the peanut butter chocolate deal.

And not pictured are Joe's numerous returns to the buffet for donut holes. He kept grabbing 2 or 3, then returning...he would look at me, kinda give me a half grin, glance at the buffet and be gone. :rotfl: I wish I would have kept count, but it got to the point where I looked at him and said "More donut holes?" with an eyebrow raised and a bit of a smirk!

644168800_CVUZ6-M.jpg

They ran out of chocolate covered strawberries, and didn't refill them. If they had, that would have been MY donut hole. :rolleyes1

644176528_6sUcx-M.jpg

I had no idea Joe took this pic...I love it!

My second plate
644165572_nry3i-M.jpg

Orange sipper thing, creme brulee in the mini-too-cute-for-words mug, berries for H-Man.

644165503_pZZsQ-L.jpg

Seriously. Drool.

644181502_nLm9v-L.jpg

Spectromagic going by. We hardly noticed - too busy stuffing face.

After we both polished off a couple plates, I gathered enough energy to go take pictures of the buffet

View of Tomorrowland from the Terrace

Most everyone was at the railing by 5 minutes before show time and the buffet was being packed up. I had a nice railing spot and positioned our video camera, Joe took snapshots.

He told me he was determined to get Tink in a shot since he knew she flew right above us.

After a short while Henry was itchin' to see better, so Joe held him while trying to take some pictures since I had to hold the video camera on the railing. He didn't take too many, and this is about the only good one from the bunch. It was just too much to hold a toddler and attempt to take pictures! :goodvibes

The video is in 2 parts and our camera had a hard time focusing, but it's ALL here!:

Ah, the music makes me tear up every time! :cloud9:

After Wishes we made a pit stop in the bathrooms that are part of the area. While there was a line, it was small because it was just fellow party-goers. I never even knew this bathroom was here - I bet it's not used too much!

We took our time leaving the park, just soaking in those last few minutes of the park being open and not wanting the Dessert Party to end...we loved it. I asked Henry what he thought and he literally pumped his arm, as if saying "yes!" 3 times with a big grin on his face. Henry gave the party a triple arm pump! Joe and I decided, with a toddler, that was HANDS DOWN the best way to see Wishes. The view isn't the best, you can't see Spectro, but to have a chair, a table, and very yummy sweets - can't put money on that with a 2 year old! ;) (or a husband who loves sweets )

We eventually headed down Main Street and out of the gates toward the bus area. We saw a HUGE line of people and wondered what it was for...

Until we got to the front of it.

That line, that stretched back almost to bag check, was for our resort!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::headache::eek::eek:

Can you be SERIOUS?! What is going on?!

I have no idea what the deal was, but I can say, even with that long of a line, we waited maybe 15 minutes. They had bus after bus flying in for CSR. :thumbsup2

We made it back to the resort, Henry went down for bed, and soon we followed suit...but not before I did my souvies of the day pics:

Oh my - I think I want one of everything!! That dessert buffet looks so good

Your pictures of the Epcot fountain are gorgeous. Mine never turn out that good - hopefully the new camera will help with that.

And, I love Henry's contribution to the update! :thumbsup2

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! I think I gained about 50 pounds just looking at those wonderful pictures of delicious looking sweets:love:
I so want to try this sometime. Are they going to be doing this all the time or just on special occasions?? It looks wonderful:cloud9:

Now Im off to watch your videos:thumbsup2

i'm glad you explained the fruit! LOL! because i was thinking eating fruit at a dessersparty..I'm heading for the sweets! LOL!

Thanks so much for the Shula's review...I've always wondered about that place. Never mind that I see the one in Chicago out my office window everyday.....the first time we go will probably be at Disney! :rotfl:

I went up first to grab some water, expecting water bottles. While I don't mind a bottle of water, and I appreciate the convenience, I enjoy a glass filled with ice much more. We would work well together as I have to drink everything with a straw since my teeth as sooooo sensitive to ice...you could have all my ice!

And not pictured are Joe's numerousreturns to the buffet for donut holes. Those look like the same donut holes at Crystal Palace...OMG - the price of the dessert party would be worth it just for those!!! When we ate at the CP, I didn't try one until I was just about stuffed...good thing too. I still ate about five of them and they were the best donut holes I ever had!

And tell Henry I enjoyed his trip report...that was really cute! :goodvibes

Well I have not posted in a while so let's see....

The pics with Henry & the fire truck are so cute.

So glad you got to meet some relatives & have a wonderful meal. We have not tried Shula's but it sounds great!! Loved the "snoring stroller" comment:rotfl2:

Not so great about waiting that LONG for a hotdog!! What is up with that???

Oh my goodness..those desserts look YUMMY!!!! I'll take at least one of everything!! I hope they have that there when we go for our anniv. trip.
That pic of the castle that Joe took while you were sitting at the table is great!!

Oh & I have 2 of those garden Mickey gnomes:)One for my front yard & one for the back yard. I love them!! I bought them when we were there a few years back & had them mailed home (too bulky to carry home).

O-M-G!!!!!!! Those desserts look sooooo delish! I'm glad it was a magical evening for you!

Yum! The desert party looks delish!

Love the retro Epcot shirt!

Aww too cute that Henry wanted to type! Aaron loves the smilies too!:thumbsup2

I feel like one of our dogs now with a long string of drool hanging out of my mouth. :lmao:

How I hope, hope, hope they keep the dessert party going until we get there again! I NEED tiramasu in a cup!!!

Yum yum yum!!! I SO hope the dessert buffet is continued in the spring (insert drooly smilie here!) I would love to do this on our last night there

I am totally with you on the water thing! I can't go to bed without a very LARGE glass of ice water next to my bed (in a cup insulated well enough so there is still ice until well into early morning!) When I was pregnant with my second child, I became obsessed with chewing on ice!! I simply could never have enough. I looked forward to going to the hospital because they have the BEST type of ice...yes, sad I know :sad2:

Great update. I would have gone for the fruit, too, even though I would have had to try a few of the sweet treats, as well. The creme brulee would have been a for sure. What a spread!

We should have our own desserts party on NYE! :)

Okay Brooke I was totally happy with my little peppermint Bark Dove Candies from my secret santa until reading your update!

Yummy!

Your Shula's review was really interesting, it is one of those restaurants where I keep thinking they might be worth it from my foreigner's point of view, it seems to be so quintessential American! :goodvibes I will keep it in mind for future trips! :thumbsup2

Loved your dessert party review. While this is definitely not for me, it sounds like it was the best thing for your family! :goodvibes It's great to read about someone else having a wonderful time!

The Mornings aren't pretty mug is wonderful, I remember that you were writing about it last year and then it wasn't to be found anywhere in January? But isn't it a bit different in design from the previous mugs? Or am I just thinking that? Is it as huge as it used to be?

And I see that Henry will soon be a real DISer, you are training him very early! :lmao:

You had a great view, I love this pic

644176528_6sUcx-M.jpg

Loving all the dessert pics, I so so so so so hope they extend it again to the whole of next year :wizard:

I lol'd at the part where Joe kept looking at buffet, you and then getting up for more donut holes :rotfl:

Bless Henry and his lil update for the thread :)

Mmm, look at all those desserts! Yum. I love the Wishes soundtrack too. The first time we saw it I sobbed.

That Epcot t-shirt is pretty cool!

Those are the best Tink pictures I've seen on here! :thumbsup2

All of those desserts look so amazing. :cloud9:
