I thought I remebereed beiln told that the points would never go up!! Well, this adjustment just took my 2010 trip from 489 points to 513!! This will leave me less than 100 points for 2011.

We bough DVC for the "upgrade" factor. Now I will have to "downgrade" my DVC stays to studios or standard views. Ugh!

I just got the new dream book yesterday....I didnt' look at it yet....I wonder if the new charts are in it.

Funny it came with a letter from my guide thanking me for my inquiry?
also...it came with some DVC...DVD's?

I'm so UNHAPPY with these changes.....looks like nothing but more points for me. I'm telling you....this will just prevent me from going more than 1x per year for sure.....at least I don't have to debate the AP thing anymore.:badpc:

Thanks for posting these.

This is the first time I have seen the Grand Californian chart. Was that out there before?

Offering my THANKS as well. Good job squidmo :thumbsup2

work won't allow us to see photobucket - can you put them anywhere else too?

okay being bad. pirate:

What I don't understand is that BLT had a chart for both 2009 and 2010, how could they change next year? I can sort of understand a hotel that hasn't been published yet but one that was published and given to us new buyers weeks/months ago. Basically they are changing the point structure 4 months after it opens, and long after we have mapped out our 2009 and 2010 trips. Yikes, I guess I have some math to do again. Any thoughts?

P.S. thanks for posting these!

I am hoping this is why they were pulled. Disney may have realized that they changed things from under us, and perhaps they are correcting this???

I am confused, will the change be in effect for this year 2009? Or not until 2010? I don't think it will effect us much because we usually only go once a year and stay between 6-8 nights, and we have 200 points. I had figured out that for the next 3 years we could stay on the longer side (8 nights each year) by banking points each year and using 1/3 of them with our current years points. We have an extra 200 points from 2008 that we did not use since our trip in 11/08 was with DP.

2010 -

I thought I was told that when I bought that the points values would always be the same. They raise the annual dues which is supposed to cover the price increase and not the point charts.

A 2 BR in AKV at the lowest total is 270 in 2009 to 272 in 2010.

Effective 2010.

I don't get that. I booked a 2 BR in AKV for 11/09 for 8 nights and it is 252 points.

I think that is what several guides told people.

was there when one did.

so yea - your contract however says that DVC can.

I thought the deal was they couldn't change the TOTAL points..but they could be re-arranged to fit into that total. Right?

I won't utter the word that came to mind when I saw this. We rarely stay Fri-Sat nights because of the high points - and they're still high. We still won't be staying weekend nights. If it's true, this will mean fewer or shorter DVC stays for us. This may help other folks - but not us.

The total points owned at a resort cannot be changed, but DVC does have the right to reallocate the point charts to better balance usage at the resorts. In practice, they had only done this once - in 1996 at OKW - and many (myself included) have speculated that it would not happen in the near future. The wording giving DVC this ability is spelled out in your documents. There is even a discussion about what the point charts would be for each resort if they went to a balanced charts where all days for the year were the same for each room type.

The apparent changes are for stays starting January 1, 2010 and will not affect stays in 2009.

I honestly can't say I'm surprised at the changes at OKW, VB, HH, BWV, VWL and BWV - but I am truly shocked that they have apparently changed the points for SSR, AKV and BLT however.

Except for OKW, the earlier resorts have never been changed and were all similar from BWV on. With SSR they did change the "standard" point chart used by the other onsite resorts and similarr revisions have occurred as AKV and BLT began sales and came online. My observation was that DVC was modifing the point charts to better reflect usage and that more reallocation would not be needed. With the apparent changes at BLT I know there are members who have purchased at BLT using the point charts released by the sales staff to provide guidance regarding the size of their purchase. Now, with the changed point chart, there are some who might want to purchase a few more points to maintain the same travel plans and they can now only buy 100 or more points.

I am really surprised at these changes overall.

yes you are correct.

that say they raised BLT points - and BLT is not even opened - that we (BLT members) could probably sue over. We can't even make a reservation yet.

don't think even Disney can do this.

lots of us brought enough points for a studio and now we need more - and guess what if you need more - you MUST buy a 100 more points. that is not right. think the courts would be on our side - well could hope they would. definitely sounds to me like DVC is using this to get DVC members to turn over more money.

Now if the new point chart was the first one out - then no problems - it was NOT.
