I am so sorry you have been sick- I hope you get all better soon. It was great meeting you. I can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Carol, It was great meeting you too.

Now it's going to be a little bit longer, I'm feeling better but had to take jonah to ER 2:00 this morning for the same thing, so I'm hoping that by Monday we'll all be well again. He's having a rough go of this as he can on have the tummy med every 6 hours and I can definitely tell when it's time for it again as he gets very irritable which is just not like him to do. Well I gotta go as he is calling me now

Oh my goodness!! I am so praying for you guys. How awful. When typical kids are sick, it is hard on parents...but when your special needs child gets sick...it is so much more complicated. I am sorry. I will pray for you guys to feel better soon!!! :)

I'm going to have to take him back to birmingham. He is having problems with his hearing aids again. I'll get to the trip report at some point in time, we're just going to be really busy here for awhile so I'll be absent for awhile dealing with all of Jonah's medical stuff. I'll eventually get back on here.

I hope Jonahs ears get sorted soon

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of this day for some reason.
Well, here we go. We woke up at 4 a.m. yes I said 4 a.m. We had to get showers, clean the house, get dressed, pack up Jonah's equipment that we were going to take with us, get Jonah up and dressed, and load the van before 7 a.m. We were only 10 mins behind schedule by the time we left, which when traveling with Kristian is a good. We had to get gas and breakfast on the way to the airport too. One our friends was taking us and picking us up so we wouldn't have to leave the van at the airport for the week.
We got to the airport around 8:15 after we got everything we needed. Now our flight leaves at 10:30 and we still have to get checked in, and get through security with Jonah's equipment and supplies. It took us about 10 minutes to get unloaded. We had Jonah's chair, suction machine (doesn't count as carry on) his book bag with his formula and extra supplies, one other carry on that had cameras and extra clothes. Then we had 3 checked bags that had clothes and more of Jonah's supplies for the week. We get to the check in counter and we were the only ones in line. The airtran crew at this airport was awesome and we were on a mostly empty flight. They had some take our checked bags after they had the tags put on them. They crew chief saw Jonah in the chair and his MAW shirt and went into action. We got upgraded to first class. We were bouncing off the walls at this point because we were going to be flying comfy seats and actually have some leg room. So now it's off to security. Yes this is what i had feared all along with trying to get Jonah and his stuff through. We get to the x-ray machines and of course have to take off everyone's shoes, unpack all the formula, luckily i had put it all in a big zip lock bag so i just pulled that out. If you can recall, Jonah was getting over a nasty cold at this time so I had packed all his OTC meds too and had to pull that out. We had to take his suction machine out and let them inspect that. Kristian went through the machine first while i waited with off to the side. Then I had to go through metal detector OOPS forgot to take off the MAW pin go back through. Then find Jonah and Kristian again and help hold jonah so he could get a pat down. Then the testing of the liquids came that's another 10 mins of my life gone and Jonah still hadn't got his breakfast yet. It ended up taking us about 45 minutes if not longer to get through security at this time. Everything got checked and was o.k. so we pack everything back up and head to the gate. I have enough time to get Jonah's diaper changed and get him fed before loading. We have an uneventful flight to atlanta. I'll tell you about first class later and if we are fortunate enough to get upgraded again for our flight to atlanta to orlando.

First Class Nice!!!!

45 minutes to go through Airport Security when Jonah hasnt had breakfast yet, Not so nice!

Mandy

What a wonderful start! I am so glad you didn't have to deal with the airtran counter and security in Atlanta! Sounds nothing like your smooth quick process!

Can't wait to hear more and what a nice thing to be upgraded.

I'm so sorry Jonah has been sick!

I love the pictures! I think Jonah has his daddy's eyes!

Wow, 45 minutes to go through security and they even had to pat Jonah down? Come on! At least you got to ride in 1st class!

First of all...I am praying for Jonah. And I am actually in Birmingham right now! :) (Lakeshore Foundation) I am positive that proximity does not matter when you are talking to God...but I am close, all the same! :)

The picture of him and Tigger and Piglet...priceless!!!

And First Class!! Woo Hoo!!!! :)

I can't wait to hear about your trip! I totally, totally understand about your lack of pictures! I know you only have two hands...and three of them are used to help Jonah! :lmao: Anyway...just wanted you to know that I feel your pain on that one!

We landed in Atlanta with an hour to get off the plane and get to the next gate. We have to wait for everyone else to get off the plane and wait for Jonah's chair to be brought up to us so that's a good 15 minute wait there if not longer. We finally get off the plane and we all need to use the bathroom and get Jonah changed. That takes up another 20 minutes there because we have to pass Jonah off to each other because the stalls were just not big enough to accommodate everything we had. We ended up getting a total of 10 minutes to sit down before we started loading on the plane again. We tell the lady checking us in about Jonah being in the chair and that we need to preboard and it ends up we weren't all sitting together matter of fact it sounded like we weren't even near each other. I asked if there was anything left where we could be at least near each other and she typed on her key board and low and behold we get upgraded again AWESOME. Jonah and I got to sit in the very front seat and Kristian sat behind us. We had awesome stewardesses. They wanted to play with Jonah but he fell asleep and got a good nap in while in the air. When he woke up we were in orlando. They gave him him a set of wings and told us which characters to meet and how much fun he'll have. It was short hour flight. We waited for everyone to get off the plane and waited for his chair to be brought up and we were off find the our greeter from GKTW. We found Robert with ease and he helped up get our luggage and asked about our flight down. He took us to Avis. We got our minivan got Jonah's car seat installed and gave us directions to GKTW and we were on our way.
We ended up missing a turn some where and got lost (it never fells we always get lost on a trip) but we called GKTW and found out where to go.We just say we took the scenic tour. We got to GKTW and checking in was easy. Jonah got his first surprise of the trip. I can't remember the girls name that checked us in but she took us to our villa which was 119. We were able to finally relax a little and get Jonah fed before supper time. We did a little bit of the christmas party because unfortunately Kristian's work called and he was on the phone and I had to take Jonah to the orientation meeting with me (i was not a happy camper). After that we put in a no cell phone calls during the trip until Jonah was asleep and we were down for the night. We had a great supper and a good night sleep and we are going to MAGIC KINGDOM the next day. I'm still loading up pictures to photobucket so it going a little while longer and I've got get packing for our trip tomorrow. We are going to see his pediatrician and hopefully get off one of the stomach meds and to get his 5 yr old check up too. Please just bare with me as it's going take quite awhile to get this done. I do have a picture of us in front of our villa but i've got to down load that one too.

Thank you so much for the pictures to tide us over. Some comments from Megan:

  • Jonah looks so cute in sunglasses!
  • Tigger looks so proud to see himself on the shirt.
  • I TOLD you Tigger's nose was black not pink!

Sheesh! Well, I agree with the first two anyway.

I'm happy to read about the start of your trip, even if took you forever to do anything in the airport. Gosh, they make things difficult, don't they? At least you got upgraded. Can't wait to read more!

Hope things are going well in Birmingham. We are thinking of you.

I'm so sorry Jonah has been sick.

Thank you so much for posting pictures! I was very excited to recognize the shirt in the first picture!
