Jonah's wish trip *pictures added*

We landed in Atlanta with an hour to get off the plane and get to the next gate. We have to wait for everyone else to get off the plane and wait for Jonah's chair to be brought up to us so that's a good 15 minute wait there if not longer. We finally get off the plane and we all need to use the bathroom and get Jonah changed. That takes up another 20 minutes there because we have to pass Jonah off to each other because the stalls were just not big enough to accommodate everything we had. We ended up getting a total of 10 minutes to sit down before we started loading on the plane again. We tell the lady checking us in about Jonah being in the chair and that we need to preboard and it ends up we weren't all sitting together matter of fact it sounded like we weren't even near each other. I asked if there was anything left where we could be at least near each other and she typed on her key board and low and behold we get upgraded again AWESOME. Jonah and I got to sit in the very front seat and Kristian sat behind us. We had awesome stewardesses. They wanted to play with Jonah but he fell asleep and got a good nap in while in the air. When he woke up we were in orlando. They gave him him a set of wings and told us which characters to meet and how much fun he'll have. It was short hour flight. We waited for everyone to get off the plane and waited for his chair to be brought up and we were off find the our greeter from GKTW. We found Robert with ease and he helped up get our luggage and asked about our flight down. He took us to Avis. We got our minivan got Jonah's car seat installed and gave us directions to GKTW and we were on our way.
We ended up missing a turn some where and got lost (it never fells we always get lost on a trip) but we called GKTW and found out where to go.We just say we took the scenic tour. We got to GKTW and checking in was easy. Jonah got his first surprise of the trip. I can't remember the girls name that checked us in but she took us to our villa which was 119. We were able to finally relax a little and get Jonah fed before supper time. We did a little bit of the christmas party because unfortunately Kristian's work called and he was on the phone and I had to take Jonah to the orientation meeting with me (i was not a happy camper). After that we put in a no cell phone calls during the trip until Jonah was asleep and we were down for the night. We had a great supper and a good night sleep and we are going to MAGIC KINGDOM the next day. I'm still loading up pictures to photobucket so it going a little while longer and I've got get packing for our trip tomorrow. We are going to see his pediatrician and hopefully get off one of the stomach meds and to get his 5 yr old check up too. Please just bare with me as it's going take quite awhile to get this done. I do have a picture of us in front of our villa but i've got to down load that one too.

Woo Hoo on the second FIRST CLASS flight! :) Awesome! :woohoo:

I totally feel your situation in airport bathrooms...how frustrating! But normal, I guess. We went to a power wheelchair soccer tourney in Birmingham this weekend. It was TOTALLY accessible...everything about it was accessible. And the bathrooms were AWESOME...like someone with a disability...or a committee of people...designed them. They even had these huge assisted size dressing areas with these big plush padded tables...it was awesome. anyway...thought that was cool! :)

It is all good...I totally understand that time it takes to upload pics...get them sized...cropped...whatever and then post them with the story. :P and I don't have kids...so I feel for ya, my friend!

Sounds like you had a good trip so far, though!! :)

So excited to hear about the rest of your trip!! Love the picture of Jonah with Tigger and Piglet!!

Well, life has taken a crazy turn for us right now. We're waiting to hear back from his ENT to see what our next step is going to be. Jonah had a CT scan last week of his inner ear and to check the thickness of his skull to see if there is anyway to do the hearing aid surgery again. His doctor emailed the doctor who started this particular surgery and now we wait to hear what he has say.
We're hoping there is a way to build up the bone so he can use the device again since we were seeing such great progress with it, if not we'll have to go back to him wearing a head band for a while and hope that he bones thicken up. We are putting him on a different diet to hopefully fatten him up. I've still got to work on getting the rest of the photos loaded up and wright down his trip report before I get so bogged down with this other stuff. We had a good christmas. I got to see my cousins that i only get see at this time of year. I'm hoping to get started on this again soon. We were at my mom's the last few weeks but we're home now at least for a little while anyway. I'm almost scared to unpack the bags for the thought of they have figured something out and we need to come back up.

Hi Becca,
Hope you had a good holiday season and that things are settling down with Jonah and all your traveling.
Was it a good result for the hearing aid surgery or does he have to go back to wearing the band?

We are having to go back to wearing the band for awhile. We're going back to see the doctor Wednesday afternoon. There is a way for them to do the surgery again but we are going to have to start ALL OVER again. They are going to use bone and build up the skull and place the anchor in that and then wait a year to do the second stage. I'm not sure what kind of bone they are going to use which is the reason to go meet with doctor so we can get our questions answered and make an informed decision about another surgery. Right now he is with out his hearing aid because i can't find his old head band so I've got to talk to his audiologist about getting another one. He is keeping really busy right now so that's why i haven't started on our trip report. He won't leave his trach alone for 2 seconds if we aren't giving him our undivided attention. Friday I had to go and sit with him at school so he'd stay calm enough to do his work. He is having separation issues, which is so unlike him when he's at school. So any time his nurse call me and say "he needs you, can please come up here" Well, here's hoping he has a good day.

Awww, I am sorry that things are not so good at the moment.
Heres hoping that you get some good news when talking to the doctor about the bone building up procedure.
Jonah may come out of his anxiety time soon. It could be because recently he has had so much going on he feels overwhelmed and insecure, you are his one constant and he is making sure you are there with him.
I am sure once he gets his schedule back he will start coming around.

Love
Mandy

Becca, I'm sorry things are tough right now. I hope everything starts going a bit more smoothly for you. :grouphug:

I know I neglected his trip report but the memories are still there. Jonah passed away March 13, 2007. He pulled out his trach in the middle of the night. We are having his visitation on Wednesday and his funeral on thursday. We are having a tough will the realization that he isn't here with us. We are remembering the good times that we had with him and that always brings a smile to our faces. We can't thank Make-A-Wish enough for giving us some of those favorite memories. We can't thank Give Kids the World enough either. Please just remember us.
