Jon & Kate Confusion

Wasn't it announced that the kids' college education is being funded as well?

There's a big difference between being perceived as standoffish versus throwing a fit and walking around with a sense of entitlement because you had so many kids at one time. ;)

I wasn't really speaking to the 'throwing a fit' aspect. ElleBelle said that Kate, "snubbed everyone." I've also seen other people say she is abrasive. I just know, from experience, that it's easy to come off that way when you're working very hard to watch your kids in a hectic environment. Even the post about Disney. Sure they're kids and it's ice cream. As mom, though, sometimes you lose sight of that and think, "I don't have 8 new shirts with me. I'll never get these stains out. They're going to be sticky, and uncomfortable for the rest of the day" etc. That doesn't make the tantrum right, but it is a little understandable. Combining stress, and then some fancy editting, I'm sure, I am willing to cut Kate a little slack.

I noticed in the Christmas episode, they made no mention of Santa anywhere, and had my kids been watching, would have spoiled it...they talked about filling their kids stockings, and in our house Santa does that job!

Just because you talk about money and worry about finances doesn't mean you are poor. I think most people do. If there were cameras here catching my worries, they'd hear about how much everything costs, how I don't want to pay for septic tank repairs when we just spent money to fix a car, etc. It doesn't mean we're out of money. Unless you have unlimited funds, it's pretty natural to worry. Even if you come into a windfall, once you've pinched a penny it's pretty hard to stop!

Reality tv. The name pretty much says it.

Very true!

It's been speculated on other boards that Jon quit his job to run their 'empire'. Not only do they have their books, speaking engagements, websites, endorsements, they also have a national television show. People say that the family on Little People, Big World, get around $250K a season. I would imagine that J&K get more, but I'm not sure. I don't blame them in the least. Strike while the iron is hot, you know. But as the kids get older (and less cute), the demand will slow.

I never thought about health insurance. I wonder if TLC is covering that for now. That seems very risky.

Wasn't it said during one of the episodes that he went to work for the husband of Kate's friend (can't remember her name. The one wiht the huge house that they went swimming at after the 4th parade, and that the kids have stayed with before)

The one question that has always nagged at me is Kate's comment that the grandparents of their children "aren't involved in our daily lives"..

It's hard for me to imagine that the grandparents (although I am aware that Jon's father is deceased) could be such horrible people that they are not allowed to interact with their 8 grandchildren..:confused3

I don't know what the deal is with Jon's mother, but I have this feeling that for Kate's parents, that it is racial. There have been little comments here and there that made be feel that is the case. Recently she said something about certain family members refusing to get to know the kids until the kids were in the lime light. Basically she said it was too little too late.

Or maybe that they wouldn't want to?? (I don't know what the situation is) :confused3

That Kate is a piece of work. And THAT is the nicest thing I can say about her. :lmao:

Do you know, I never popped into the John & Kate threads, because I thought it was a love fest about them.

She's kinda....snooty? Is that a good word. I cant even put my finger on it, but Im not too crazy about the show, and end up watching (like a train wreck) with my mouth dropped, and scrunched up eyebrows.

She owes me Botox money for having to endure her show. ;)

Beth's husband Bob? I think that was a cover. It doesn't make sense, what would he do? How stable is that? They said that for a couple episodes, then all of a sudden he's "self-employed". Most self-employed people work very hard at their venture in the beginning. We just aren't seeing that.

Not that I begrudge their success, but it does seem they are exploiting their kids for material things. I also don't think Kate appreciates the things they have. They have a gorgeous home, yet it's 'too small'. Granted as the kids age it will be tighter and tighter, but they just don't seem grateful for what they have been given.

I really need to stop watching the show, J&K annoy me to no end. But the kids are so cute!

yes, hes working for beths husband

Kate rides poor Jon like a jockey. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: If I was Jon, I'd hide in the kids' playhouse to get away from her fingerpointing and know-it-all attitude. The day she told the kids to ignore what daddy said and not pay attention to his instructions (regarding what was and was not allowed at the table, I believe) my jaw dropped. She completely undermines him as a father and he might as well just be a sperm donor and part of her babysitter support team. I don't even watch the show that often, but every single time I catch it, she's treating him with condescension, and she's not even subtle about it. :sad2: What is she teaching those kids? Just once, I'd like to hear him say, "Shut up already, Kate!' :woohoo:  :worship:

I can honestly say that Dfi's parents aren't involved in our daily lives. They only live about 20 minutes away, but his self-absorbed mother doesn't have the time for her grandson. She is way too busy getting her hair highlighted, working out and showing off her fake ****s while being overly involved in their 12 year old son's travel basketball team. I'm a little bitter, can you tell? My point is, that maybe it is the choice of the grandparents. DFi's mom seems to think she is too young to be a grandmother, but IMO she should have thought of that when she got pregnant at 16. ;)

nope-they announced near the begining of the season he now calls his own hours because he's gone into buisness for himself.

ahhh ok... that didnt take long lol..very weird.

They've also said several times that he works with Beth's husband. Just because hes "gone into business for himself" doesn't mean he can't have a busniess partner or can't work with someone.

Nope, the threads are more like "Kate is the devil and Jon is a saint"

That bugged me too..about how the house is 'too small' for them. I ended up yelling at the TV, "You just spent all that money to remodel the house and replace the carpet and it's too small? What the bloody *expletive*?".

I did laugh at how, on their road trip to WDW, Kate wouldn't let anybody walk around in the hotel room with their shoes off. Part of me wonders if her extreme germophobia comes from the days when she was a nurse.
