Jon & Kate Confusion

No, I am upset because there is nothing wrong with her children, and nothing wrong with her or Jon that they can not go out and work and get health Ins. like the rest of us do. I work and so does my DH. We pay a pretty penny a week for Ins. and taxes that go to pay for people like them.We dont ask for a free ride. We both bust our butts to have what we have. I was just stating what I know, and I dont see how they quilfied. The children are three... so three years is a long time.

They haven't been on Medicaid for a long time. The only reason they were on to begin with, isbecause John was fired from his job during her pregnancy, therefore they lost their insurance coverage.
Kate was on bedrest for most of the pregnancy, therefore it was impossible for her to have worked at all much less as a nurse.
Sorry but it sounds like you are just upset that they qualified, when you and your niece did not.

They wouldn't have removed your neice's DD from Mcaid because her job offers insurance, she must have been making too much to receive it. I know this because that is what I do for a living. Also, preg mcaid has different guidelines than other types of medicaid as well.

There are alot more people getting a free ride everyday through disability and state assistance, simply because they are lazy and have cheated the system, those are the ones you need to be mad at, not Jon and Kate.

Suzanne

don't mean to be insulting, but as a former administrator and trainer for health and social services in medicaid programs i have to point out that since you appear to live and work in a state different than the one the gosselin's reside in you may not be aware of their state's program regulations.

while states that provide the minimum requirements of the medicaid program are mandated to offer certain programs that all other minimum criteria states provide-not all states are identical in how they administer pregnancy or post partum services. in some there are purely income standards, in some income and work requirements, in some if a participant/applicant has available private insurance-if it is of a greater standard than what is offered by the state-it is required that the person make application and take receipt.

if someone is lazy or has cheated the system to receive gov. state assistance and a worker has detected it or suspects it, they are remiss in their duties to not take appropriate action. just because fraud exists (in actuality or by the perception of a worker or the public) it does not excus nor should the be the basis to deny the public the right to being offended by persons stating that their choice to embark on fertitlity choices that are highly prone to result in multiple births entitles them to the general public financialy supporting their medical needs (and esp. 'needs' that were proven by their state and upheld at the appeal level as purely non medical but rather personal assisted childcare choices).

My neice makes 9 dollars an hour. She was told due to she works full time and they offer Ins. Maybe your state is differnt.

What is the differnce between Jon and Kate and those other people? They are doing the same thing not working and getting Ins. for free. They are both capable of working. She could work nights as a nurse. My Mom did for many years,as a single Mom raising five at home.

9 dollars per hour is a high amount for someone who works at BK. I know it doesn't seem like much to you, but around here that is a really nice income. Actually my DH doesn't make that much. I only deal as far north as SC and their guidelies are similar to ours.

Jon and Kate didn't drink their benefits. Many many Americans waste our tax dollars daily and they are the people I resent, the ones that booze it up and say they are disabled, when there are hundreds of thousands of truly disabled people that can't get the coverage they so desperately need because of a screwed up system. They no longer receive such services, that was only when Jon lost his job while Kate was pregnant and home bound. Jon works for their friend Beth's husband now.

:confused3 sounds like your issue is with people that receive cash assistance not medical since medical assistance does'nt provide financial assets a person could 'drink'.

if there are people you work with that receive beneifts and are not disabled then the medical practitioners that are providing the documentation necessary to qualify recipients should be held accountable as well as the recipients.

jon and kate no longer receive benefits but did so long after they qualified under existing state and federal program guidelines because they filed an appeal and received aide pending the alj decision that 'no'- public funded medical benefits are not entitled parents of multiples simply by the virtue that scientific technology exists to facilitate such births (but hey-they got the private nurse extended that they wanted to use as a glorified babysitter despite her own testimony that she had'nt been appropriately utilized for months, so in the long run, they got what they wanted and for all of kate's proclaiming that she was appealing on the principle of the matter, it was entirely dropped from her agenda when their personal appeals ran out).

No not completely, I don't like anyone who abuses the system whether through monetary or through medical assistance. I see many women that have one baby after another to keep getting mcaid and other state assistance. We see too many women that qualify that are just too lazy to follow through with the process that we start for them and many times it is for their children. If someone was going to help me get FREE assistance, I would jump at the chance. Then I see many people that really need the help and are willing ot do what is necessary and they don't qualify for any assistance, because it is being "held" for those that are lazy.

However, when my husband and I were both unemployed at the same time. I couldn't get $1 worth of food stamps because the state said we had $2500 in assets that we didn't have and I could never get anyone to help me after getting the judgement. I pay alot in taxes and when I need assistance, I expect it to be there.

I resent alot of services that are provided here in the South, because we have more indigent people, they need to get out a get a job and work for their assistance.

I don't know anything about hte scenario about the Gosselins, but I do like them and their show.

blah, blah, blah, blah....:faint: Technically, anyone who received, cashed and spent their stimulus check could be perceived as "sponging" off the system...didn't do a thing to deserve it but gladly spent it. :rotfl2:

So, what time does Jon and kate come on tonight???

I had to stop watching that show because I was so over all the advertisements they push in the show. I pick up on product placement very easily and it pisses me off when this show does it SO obviously.

Whoa......

I've spent the last hour or so pretty much letting my 2 yr old destroy my house while reading this thread. (Child abuse?)

People (including me) apparently have too much time on thier hands. I watch the show when I catch it on. It's cute. The kids are cute. Maddy's a pill, but so are a lot of kids. Kate's a little OCD, but really, it's not that bad because I've noticed toys and such on the floor lots of times. Sure, they get endorsements and free stuff. So what? I got a free sample of a granola bar in the mail the other day.....and you know what? I ATE IT! Somebody call the cops! I got a coupon for a free item at a kid's store....and I used that too. AHHHHH!!! Right now my kid is taking the FREE address labels we get in the mail and sticking them to her shirt. If someone offered me free clothes from Gymboree or Gap, you'd better believe I'd take them.

I'm sure they've made choices that I wouldn't make. So has my mom. So has my DH. Big deal.

Really. Panties. Wadding. Much.

Yeah, haven't gotten my stimilus check yet, but as soon as I do, I am gonna jump for joy, then go pay it on my WDW trip in December.

Actually I am watching it right now. Since Monday it has been coming on from 11am to 12pm and that is very exciting for me :woohoo:

High risk bed rest pregnancy and premature birth= nothing wrong in your book. OK what ever. BTW...they are now 4, and haven't been on medicaid for a long time.

Unfortunately the original link to the article no longer works. :(
But its been quoted all over the web...

Heres the entire article:

I found this on the web:
Link please, even to the newspaper or news service that published this.

I did a search and all I could find was the same thing written as a BLOG entry.

That's not news, that's someone's opinion.

Don't you know? If you read it on the internet, it must be true!:rolleyes1

I stopped watching because I did start to question the way they did things and felt I was supporting the ratings therefore supporting them. When I say supporting I mean just that and mostly in a financial sense. Without that show they would not have anything that they have now. It got to the point that it was very obvious they were exploiting the kids in some areas. What is the need to show potty training, bath tub scenes and boys in thier underwear. Yes boys like torun around in their underwear, however if the doorbell rings guess who has to put on their pants!::yes:: ::yes:: Let alone let milliions of viewers catch personal family moments. Kate does expect hand outs and freebies. She wants things her way and she gets them that way. I did question her and did some research. I took it all with a grain of salt, however it did open my eyes a bit. Please do not think I am Kate bashing. I think that they are both held responsible for thier choices as a family.

I'm going to be in the minority and 100% agree with you. I stopped watching the show for those reasons. I find the threads way more entertaining:rolleyes1

Then when my DH lost his job six years ago, we could not even get on a chip program from the state. They told him he made to much the previous year to be ineligible. We had to wait till the new job open enrollment came up.

We live in PA also. DH lost his job, I am a SAHM of 3, and the company contested his unemployment. So we literally had no money coming in, until both of us went out looking for anything we could find. We applied for CHIP's and after 3 months of no insurance, our kids were put on the CHIP's program. There are specific guidelines, but are very, very, accommadating.
Even if an employer offers health insurance, I believe you can still get the CHIP's program, if the costs for the health insurance are unaffordable. Of course, this is income based. The income levels weren't too high the last time I looked.
Perhaps your sis needs to re-examine her options.
