Jon and Kate Plus 8. Official Thread!!

I thought the episode was pretty cute.

I also thought the hose might hurt a bit. Some of the kids seemed to just think it tickled, others seemed more bothered by it. I don't think anyone was seriously hurt. If I remember, though, I think he wanted to send 'em straight to the shower but our good friend Kate wanted them to be hosed off first.

I didn't notice the red/white police. I'll have to look during one of the reruns this week.

I wish I could get DS to eat as well as Kate gets her little ones to eat. He's into proteins and starches (which we all know are superhealthy!! Ha!!), but I usually have to dress-up the healthy stuff. He does love apples and strawberries, but steak, starches and strawberries do not a well-balanced diet make! It probably has to do with her being a better meal preparer than I am, too! Thank goodness he gets two meals a day at school or he would have a boring menu. That's definitely one thing the show's inspired me to do...shake things up in the kitchen!

I also watched the hair episode that I had never seen. Between that and the tummy tuck... They did a warning before showing her surgery, but I don't think I saw one last night. I was in and out with that episode, so maybe I missed it.

Kate did mention how grateful they were for these donations, and they were still regular people who couldn't/wouldn't run and out do these things (the more expensive endeavors that have been donated). Seemed sincere to me. They also managed to get the name of the clinic in several times. Hehe!! Hmmm, what can I donate to get some national exposure...

I wonder if "Jodi's sister" ever wrote about how Jodi snapped at her husband when one of the kids wasn't clean enough while they were babysitting. Or how she doesn't "do vomit." Both are just part of having kids. We suck it up and deal as parents. I did notice that last night. I'm not upset or shocked by it. It's how some moms/wives are, but it just happens to stand out with tv editing sometimes. I think no less of Jodi as a parent.

I noticed the guys on the beach. When they first got there Kate made a comment about going to an area that was empty, away from people. At one point you could see one of the guys talking to a few people and then they walked away. Can you imagine if the guys weren't there? You would probably see a semi-circle around the family. Besides being awkward for the shot, it's only fair to give the kids some space.

The kids looked like they had fun at the beach. It was so funny to see Colin smearing that pudding over his body, like he was waiting his whole life to get messy in front of mommy. :lmao:

LOL about tonight's episode. I love how Kate is forcing herself to accept messes.

Anyone know what all of Jon's tattoos are? The one on the upper right arm is the South Korean Flag. The one on the left shoulder looks like a tribal sun wiht maybe something in the center of the sun. I have no idea what the one on the right shoulder or left upper arm are.

I know Kate has pooh on her ankle and had something (a flower?) that was removed during the tummy tuck.

I was wondering what jon's tattoo was of as well...the one on the upper right back/shoulder....

I really liked last night's episode....looked like everyone was having fun.

that weird one that had a big red circle on top and a long line coming down from it? I so can not make out what that is. The one on the left upper arm looks like it might just be a tribal design.

.

I thought it was Kate who wanted them to shower and John who wanted to hose them off. I'll have to watch again....

yeah I think we are looking at the same one...this one looked like a palm tree to me on top of something.

Earlier in the episode they mentioned the outdoor shower in connection with washing sand off the kids after the beach. I think after the pudding painting, Jon said they would shower but Kate said something about being afraid the kids would touch stuff on the way so she wanted to hose them off outside. :)

What she said... :lmao:

Except, I thought they had an outdoor shower, so I don't know what couldn't be touched by them outside. :confused3

Yep, could be a palm tree with a sun next to it, and maybe a tiny island beneath it.

I liked last night's episode. I want to take a great beach vacation like that. They all seemed more relaxed than usual. It is so good to get away once in a while. It does wonders for the soul.

I do get the feeling that Jon and Kate are perhaps just a touch in damage control mode. She seems to be making a true effort to be softer. I wonder if that's due to the backlash that has been spreading through the internet, or just seeing for herself how she acts sometimes and how it looks to others. Either way, her new "niceness" seems forced, but at least she's trying. I'll give her that.

I'll bet it's hard to have some of your worst moments captured on TV and rerun week after week. I am not surprised to see them trying to control themselves a little more. I started to feel a little bit bad for them, but I got over it. Fame and money come with a heavy price. I wonder if they will think it's worth it when this is all over?

I'll have to watch it again....because I swear it was the other way around...but I've been known to be wrong!!

I totally saw myself in Kate when she was freaking out about Jon taking the kids in the ocean and not being "careful" enough. I love the ocean, but it scares me to death when kids are concerned.

I had my "been there done that" moment when Leah fell in the pool. The look on Kate's face was painful to watch. I know that feeling. That was true fear for the saftey of her baby. Thank God Jon was right there and she wasn't under for more than a second. He can sure move quick when he wants to!

The ocean makes me nervous but pools really scare me. Accidents happen so easily in a backyard pool. :scared:

I know what you mean!! Where your heart rockets out of the top of your head, everything is in slow motion. :faint:

When they were on oprah, she asked how does she get the kids to eat,and kate replied,"she is not a short order cook" they eat what she makes. I do the same thing. Kids will not starve them selfs, If you stop making them what they want instead of what your cooking for dinner then yes they will become picky eaters.;)

:thumbsup2

I think we talked about it many pages ago but that conversation has long passed lol.

Believe me, I'm not a short order cook, either. I can barely put together what I do make, so I'm not making anything besides that. I tell him "If you don't want it, you can eat breakfast," and he does, but my point is to get him to eat healthier foods, not just to get him to eat. He'll eat 'til the cows come home and then grill 'em up and eat that, too.

Today he had carrot sticks because he saw the boys (my back-to-school campers) eating them. Maybe that's part of her trick. Peer pressure! Ha! I did see on a recent rerun that she "hid" veggies in meatloaf, etc. I've also started doing turkey burgers instead of beef (I don't care much for beef).

That's what I thought too. She's certainly turned herself down a notch. Wonder if it's in regards to what they read on the internet or if the producers told her to tone it down?

I think while reading online might have affected her, I some how doubt the producers said anything. IMHO I think she saw the impression she makes. I know she has commented about it in the past.

I found this - -have no idea if it's true... sounds like it could be

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_is_Kate_Gosselin_estranged_from_her_parents

Hmmm...I see either of those answers being more well-known if they were true. There's always someone who's willing to spill the beans, and I'm sure if her parents were toothless hicks, someone would have produced pictures or something by now. If they were disowned in a huff due to mismatched bibs, I'm willing to bet someone involved with the church would have blabbed. I think the obscurity of the answers means they're both speculation.

That being said, I've got nothing for ya as far as the actual reason they're not featured in the show. Sorry!!
