I think it was one of the *looking back* episodes but I remember Kate saying something like "we are not willing to make excuses for our families anymore" and it seems like Jon jumped right in and basically supported her statement.

I can't imagine what people said to her when she was pregnant with the tups...people said some crazy things to me when I was pregnant with the twins. AND my mother and I never fight but we didn't speak for weeks after she was less than thrilled about me having twins.

I like the beach episode...I agree with pps that Kate has toned it down or TLC has been less inclined to edit the episode to show Kate's worst side. I think TLC/shows editors are trying to show Jon's more assertive side as well---like the argument over the water hose.

I don't get the thinking behind that. Do people really want you (the general you...that, um, are preggo with multiples...yeah, that you) to do "selective reduction" so bad that they'd fight over it. That equates to abortion in my mind, and I just couldn't do it. It's perfectly fine for others, but it wouldn't be an option for me.

Did you guys see? I didn't see it mentioned, but J&K just renewed their wedding vows in Maui on August 12th. There was a pic of them renewing their vows with 4 of the kids (the rest weren't in the pic) in the current issue of "Us weekly". If anyone is looking for the mag, it's the newest one with Nastia L (I would botch her last name) and Shawn Johnson on the cover.

I am sure we see an episode with the vow renewal in the future!

They were there 2 weeks, but were only filmed for one of the weeks.

I don't think it is selective reduction as much as people just think they are being funny...like tons of "better you than me" comments.

My mom said she was worried about my health and the health of the babies. But really she was secretly worried that twins would take away from my DD (3 at the time)...once the shopping part kicked in, it was amazing how fast she came around.

Yeah, I confess that if I met someone who was expecting 6 babies, a "better you than me" comment might slip from my mouth.

Folks who've had multiples, I guess the correct comment is "Contratulations"? Seems a bit flip in the case of 6, since the mom might not be happy and might be very worried. How about "God bless you"? I never say "Let me know if I can help with anything" unless I am actually willing to help.

Edited to add: I just remembered the thing one is to say to every expectant mother "You look beautiful."

Folks who've had multiples, I guess the correct comment is "Contratulations"? Seems a bit flip in the case of 6, since the mom might not be happy and might be very worried. How about "God bless you"? I never say "Let me know if I can help with anything" unless I am actually willing to help.

Have to disagree with this one big time!!! Not all pregnant women look beautiful, not all brides are beautiful & not all babies are cute.

Anyway, as far as decreasing the amount of babies one is carrying it needs to be a decision with many variables and great care & communication between both parents.
1. Is Mom's life in danger? Especially if there are other children in the family waiting & needing her to be healthy.
2. Will a continued pregnancy with "x" amount of babies make it difficult for any baby to survive?
3. Would continuing with the pregnancy cause severe physical disabilities?

There are so many questions and concerns. Just as I have stated earlier we were required to sign paperwork acknowledging the risk of multiple births and also that reducing the pregnancy was explained to DH & myself.

Worry comes with all pregnancies but when you are at such a higher risk for anything/everything to go wrong I understand a family deciding to reduce the number of pregnancies.

That was it, just not the pic I saw. You could see all of J&K not just side views. I didn't think her dress was very flattering at all. Kate is such a skinny minny, I would have picked something more flattering.

Yes...having multiples has completely changed my view of what is appropriate to say. Now, I say to all first time parents..."Congratulations--and despite what you will hear over the next few months....babies are great and you will sleep and have sex again and you probably won't be broke all the time."

Well, I have to admit--I made one slip up. A guy I work with just announced his wife is pregnant with baby #4. They have a 3 year old and 5 month old twins. I couldn't resist a "Seriously???..."

Because there was a story in the paper about the swimming instructor they hired and she said that the family was there for 2 weeks, but the cameras were only there one. She also said that the kids were totally oblivious to the cameras and acted the same both weeks.

You're right...I don't know for sure...but my guess is that the camera's were probably only there one week and got enough footage.

That isn't the way the article made it sound. The swimming lessons were at the home that J&K rented. so it isn't linke the crew was packing up and following them ot the lessons.

It has been said in the past that the crew is gone for weeks at a time. The kids do not have the cameras in their faces 24/7 365 as some would like to claim.

I also remember Jenny saying that she was going down with them for a week to get them settled in. I wonder if she left after that first week.

Jessica and Sylvia spent two weeks with the family. The first week, the television show's film crew was there to record all the action. The second week it was just the family. But the children didn't note the difference.

I take this to mean that the crew totally left after the first week.
