BTW, she didn't actually throw away the bear. She did throw away a pair of socks.

I don't know what is in the Monkey Munch, but I think I might like to try it. I don't think Kate's recipe had vanilla in it.

Ummm...like I said--I'm a Kate fan, not a Kate basher. But I looked at the little ones face (Collin--I think) and he clearly did not know the bear wasn't going to be thrown away.

I didn't use Kate's recipe I used the one from the chex site...it has vanilla. I used more vanilla and less powdered sugar. I'm not wild about it but I think it does dry it out or something.

You guys should have seen my twin boys eating it today...I bet they would have eaten the whole batch if I would have been willing to let them.

I understand why it's normally a huge deal to take 8 kids to the grocery store..but to take 3 isn't that big of a deal. Not sure why Kate was huffing and puffing so much about it. .

I didn't see Kate huffing or puffing about going to the store. She seemed like she enjoyed being able to take just the little girls with her.

I think the powdered sugar is what dries out the peanut butter and wet ingredients so you can actually pick it up in your hands.

I was glad to see that side of Kate. She promised the girls something and she made sure she followed through so as not to let them down. :thumbsup2
I loved the little girls all wanting to lick the "blue thing." I remember another episode where Mady got to lick the beater and she said she was glad Cara was at a friends house because she didn't have to share. It must be rough in that house to get the beater.

I thought it was a good episode.
I remember being a kid and fighting over who got to lick the beaters when my mom was baking. So that part brought back memories of my youth. Heck, my sister and I still like to lick the beaters when we bake something! LOL

ITA...no huffing and puffing at all.
I think some people just hate her so much that they see things that never happen

I agree. I hate when I go to make something and realize at that last second that I'm missing a key ingredient. It is annoying to have to run to the store to pick up something when you weren't planning to do so. But I thought it looked like Kate was having fun with the girls in the store and in the car.

I love this show and watch it every chance I get! I think Kate and Jon are great parents. Those little ones are so darn cute. Love the new episodes!

i did have to :lmao: :lmao: though when kate kept repeating to the little girls (while driving to the strore) 'what are we getting' ('powdered sugar was their unison answer), 'what is the ONLY thing we're getting' ('POWDERED SUGAR'), then you see her like every one of us who has told our kids we're going in for one thing and one thing only-walking out with 2-3 bags:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I noticed that too. Though maybe she bought A LOT of powered sugar! LOL :lmao: Or maybe she just saw a few other items they needed. Who knows. It was funny though.

aparently the monkey Munch is the same as the recipe for muddy buddies on Chex cereal boxes http://www.recipelink.com/mf/0/83346

We do Puppy Chow here, which is made with Crispix Cereal; recipe is usually on the box, but I do it this way:

Melt 1 stick butter or margarine, 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1 cup of peanut butter. Pour over 1 box of Crispix cereal; gently toss to coat. Sprinkle with powdered sugar (usually calls for 1 cups, but I use less).

I keep mine in the fridge for a cool, chocolatey bite!!

We call it Puppy Chow as well! Once when I was in elementary school my mom made some for us to give to our teachers and we each made a "puppy chow" bag to put it in. It was so cute. I remember I made the little symbol in the corner of the bag and a bar code. I wish I had a photo of it. I should get the recipe my mom uses and make some. Though I think my mom uses Chex, the rice and the corn kind, I think. I think she also puts in peanuts and pretzel bits. But its been a while since she's made any so I can't remember. It is yummy though!

Monkey munch, puppy chow, or muddy buddies, the reccipe is on any chex mix box, I wont tell anyone what we call it, lets just say Mmmmmm

What? No comments on yesterday's show? I thought it was cute. Though I was surprised that Jon and Kate let the kids watch that movie. I felt bad for Mady who was so upset by the monkey's death. Though it was cute when Aaden was saying "she's eating me."

Tonight's episode was cute. The girls are sooooo cute, especially Leah and Alexis. I thought their pottery projects turned out really cute. I liked Alexis' purple puppy. I thought that was super cute. And I was glad to see that Kate didn't flip out too badly about the mess. The bowl with all of their handprints was really cute. It was cute when they were interviewing all the girls together how the little girls were just crawling all over it. The boys were cute too though. Did anyone notice in the last two episodes they have been wearing Crocs. The music video song was cheesy, but the video with it was cute, especially the shots with the kids.

I thought Jon and Kate looked worn out on yesterday's(Sunday) show.

I know - they almost seemed sedated! Kate just didn't seem like her usual self. Both shows did crack me up though! That Leah is one beautiful child; and the twins just seem so much older to me now!

I agree - thought the music video was very cheesy. And what is up with those "Isiah" shirts that Jon and Kate both wore on each show?

I really liked both Sunday and Monday's episodes. The music video song was super cheesy, but kinda cute. :)

I thought it was so funny when Aaden was saying "She's eating me" when they lion ate the monkey. He thought it was funny, then we have Mady crying on the couch. Poor kid..she really was distraught over it! As soon as I saw the blinds the production guys had put up, I KNEW Kate was not going to be happy. In fact, I wouldn't have been happy. They didn't look right or anything.

Monday's episode was a true test of Kate's patience. LOL I thought it was funny that she kept saying she just didn't look at the mess. She was trying and it worked. The girls were able to just make a bit of a mess and have fun. Jon seems to be enjoying the gym, which is good.

The shirts they were wearing reference Isaiah 40:31....

31But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

With 8 kids, I think that's a very relevant verse to them. :)

I took my girls to the store yesterday, and we got the ingredients to make Monkey Munch. Man, is it good! I can't keep my hand out of the container. I just polished off a big cupful. I don't think I can ever make this again or I'm going to gain weight!

I still can't get over how recent these shows are. Did you see the date on the pottery, it was 5-28-08. Dang, so they filmed the show, edited it, and got it on the air in a month. Wow. That's awesome.

I was really impressed by Kate letting the kids get messy! Go Kate! Even Jon couldn't believe it, his cracks about his wife were priceless. :rotfl: I love how she was trying..even though she was doing her own thing while they were getting messy. That's ok though, baby steps!!!!

Am I the only one who wants to take their kids pottery painting now? :cool1:

My DD turned to me during the show and said we should go do that too! Kate did look very relaxed and into what she was making.

Wasn't Jon hysterical when Kate was getting ready to leave and she kept yelling from the van for him to do more things - "I'm just going to stand here until you go!" He was so funny! And how cute of Joel to give Colin the stuffed animal went he got put in time out?

I thought the Isiah shirts were referencing the Bible; I'm just wondering why they would both choose to wear them all of sudden. Jon had his on for one show; Kate the next.

I did not see the date on the pottery, but I can't help but think the episode was older. When Jon was bent over at the kitchen table (when they were eating beofre going ot the pottery place) I noticed his bald spot was really showing. I would have to be before the hair transplant surgery unless they all fell out.
