that was what i had recalled as well, but i'm just going by what kate said the other nite in the episode.

I think she meant "actual" shows; I don't count cartoons as tv shows.
At first I thought she meant in the VCRs, but then I remembered she said LPBW was on at a time when they could actually see some of the shows... but who knows, that could be while they're in their beds...

I don't really watch LPBW but I was thinking it doesn't seem apropriate for little kids, am I right? Didn't the dad get arrested for DUI?

My dd10 was at Berkshire Mall last night, and said that John and the 2older girls were in front of her at Chick Fila. I asked her if she spoke to them, she said no. She did comment that the girls were teasing back and forth with each other about eating each others ice cream. She also commented, they acted very much like they do on the show.
Oh so Mady was being a complete brat? ;)

They eat Chick Fila? I'm surprised. The kids can't even eat a lollipop unless it's organic. I wonder if Kate knew they were eating processed chicken. :lmao:
No kidding!!!!!!

I was just about to ask, 'since when is Chic Fil A organic?'! :lmao:
I think John must have to sneak out every once in a while for some normal life!

I bet he does!!!!!!!!!

Yeah. All Chickfila's are closed on Sunday. That's interesting that the ones in your area are lds owned. In this area all the Mennonite owned stores/restaurants are closed on Sundays(and there are a lot of em). So, it's not so unusual to see that here.(Still, I can't seem to remember that when I get a jones for some chicken strips on a Sunday!) Actually, the Chickfila that I frequent is a free standing one. From my understanding, that is unusual. That most of the Chickfila's are in malls.

I found this info on Chickfila's website:
Q: Why is Chick-fil-A closed on Sunday?
A: Our founder, Truett Cathy, made the decision to close on Sundays in 1946 when he opened his first restaurant in Hapeville, Georgia. He has often shared that his decision was as much practical as spiritual. He believes that all franchised Chick-fil-A Operators and Restaurant employees should have an oppurtunity to rest, spend time with family and friends, and worship if they choose to do so. That's why all Chick-fil-A Restaurants are closed on Sundays. It's part of our recipe for success.

I was also going to say that Truett Cathy found out about a Chick-fil-A was open on a Sunday (the mall was having a grand opening) and the manager was fired. He is very serious about being closed on Sunday. The Chick-fil-A near my house is open 24 hours, except they close at 11 on Saturday and have to be out before 12 AM, they dont open back up till Breakfast on Monday.

Chick-fil-a is "popular" with those that try to avoid chemicals, fillers, etc
While the ingredients aren't organic, most items are all natural, do not contain fillers etc.
A non organic lollipop contains mostly high fructose corn syrup and artificial ingredients.

i know where we live some public school systems have modified uniforms. My daughter can only wear Kakhi pants or skirts with a collar shirt or sweater.
Alot of public schools are doing this now.

I really liked tonight's episode. It was interesting to see them at church. I have two things I'm confused about:
Why were they touting it as a Memorial Day picnic? They even showed May 26th on their calendar, but obviously it wasn't filmed today. It was probably the weekend before Mother's Day.

Also- did they really say their church was an hour away? Holy Moly! There would have to be no other churches around for me to go an hour every week. Their church looked awesome- very similar to mine.

The end of the show made me tear up- the still photos of the kids, and Kate saying how she wanted to bottle up their youngness. Oh, how I understand! My babies are way too big, and seeing the sextuplets often reminds me of my own kids at that age, and how cute they were when they talked, and how they brushed their hair back from their faces. sigh

Could it be LAST YEAR memorial day? I haven't seen this episode and in fact my DVR says it is essence of emril at 9pm.

No it was from this year because they mentioned the fact that the Sextuplets were soon to be 4. So it was before May 10th since that was their birthday. TLC has done this before wth Little People, Big World. It was supposed to be Thanksgiving, but the episode aried on Thanksgiving, so it clearly was filmed beforehand.

It was a cute episode though. I teared up a little at the end when Kate was talking about how they are growing up. It definitely looked like they all had a fun day. I was glad that they showed plenty of the kids.

I figure it must have been pretty recently filmed since the little kids were all wearing shorts. Maybe just a week or two early?:confused3
Once again, Kate cracked me up over the kid's diet. She's all about organic and eating healthy but did anyone else ever notice how much sugar she gives them?!? Peanut butter and marshmallow fluff (all natural!) sandwiches, apples, and cookies - it's no wonder those kids have so many meltdowns! :lmao:

It annoys the heck out of me where she says about five times every episode that they eat all organic. Ok, really, we get the point. There is no award for being organic, so stop bringing it up all the time. :rotfl:

I do feel really bad for the kids because of her anti-stain fetish. I remember thinking when they were at the ice cream parlor, which was the last stop of the day. She made the almost 4 year olds wear bibs. They were going home afterwards..a little ice cream on their clothes won't kill anything. For one thing, those were Gymbo clothes, and nearly EVERYTHING washes out of Gymbo (I know, I have three kids and don't deny them on the basis of stain worry) and two..they get the clothes for free. So really, let loose! :cool1: Other than that, it was a GREAT episode..and I think they are both great parents..I would be going nuts with 8 kids!

I was a little thrown by the notation at the begininng stating it was Memorial Day??? I almost turned it off because I thought it was last year's show until I saw that the kids and realized it was a new show. I think it was filmed the Sunday before Mother's Day. The kids were not yet 4 yo and they had made a Mother's Day gift in Sunday school.

The end of the show was very moving. It almost made me think that it was a finale. I can so relate to missing the "youngness". My favorite time of being a mom was ages 3-4 years old! What am I saying---it is ALL good! But I do get melancholy!

Last night's was a good episode. I want to go to their church because it just looks like a great one. I LOVED when one of the twins said to Kate "Can't you just let them have fun?" when Kate was fussing about them playing in the grass at the ice cream place. That was a great moment!

The pictures at the end were sentimental weren't they? I know exactly what she means about their "youngness." I'm realizing that my almost 8 year old DS isn't a little kid anymore and it makes me sad. He's sooo much more independant. DS1 is growing up way too fast too. He's nearly 17 months old already.....

My husband watches this show. All I can say is :scared1: I love kids but I wouldnt last 1 hour in a house that crazy. I barely made it though toddlerhood with my 3, I can't imagine 6 kids that age all at once. And if they are close to 4 why don't they talk better? My husband says they are 2 but if they are 4 they should be talking much better then the show I saw about church and a picnic. I wonder if they are getting enough verbal interaction. I always talked to my kids like they were humans and they have such a big vocabulary, even when they were litter they talked very well and knew all sorts of words. I never talked baby talk to them.

I watch this show, a bit. I forgot about it, though, the past THREE weeks! :(

I have become such a great fan of this show, b/c Kate and John are too, too funny.

Actually, in reference to the comment about how they speak, I've heard before that it's very common for multiples to have speech problems. I can't remember the exact reason, but I want to say that it's because they all understand each other so well and interact with other kids with the same speech patterns so much. Also, they're bound to be delayed developmentally in some areas because they're preemies.

My four-year-old speaks very similarly to them. She qualified last year for speech therapy, but doesn't qualify anymore. She's just a little slower developing even though we speak correctly to her and help her work on her mistakes. She's also been slower developing in all areas, but the doctors and specialists all say she's within range and doing fine. The Gosselin kids make many of the same mistakes as her that are common for slower-developing kids and really not a concern. It's not in any way an indication of poor parenting.

Thank you for saying this so much nicer than I was about to.
I commented to DH last night about a few things I expected to see Kate blasted for on this thread. However I never imagined that Jon and Kate would be accused of neglecting/hindering the kids verbal development, and/or not interacting with the verbally.
